About this listing
A charming space that's located in a quiet neighborhood close to the UNC campus & downtown Chapel Hill. Visit friends or college children, dine, & shop in the southern part of heaven or stay in to relax, read books, & cook your own gourmet meal!
The little house is truly a small and complete house - there's a charming living room complete with packed bookcase, a very workable kitchen with fridge, electric stove, dishwasher, microwave and toaster oven, a comfortable bedroom with a double bed and a television, and a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower.
The house is connected to our bigger house by a covered breezeway but has its own entrance and access by walkways directly from the driveway where you are welcome to park.
Interaction with Guests
We will be here during a guest's stay here and will be delighted to share information about "the southern part of heaven," as Chapel Hill is known. However, the little house is separate and completely private, and guests are free to come and go on their own schedules.
It's a quiet and friendly neighborhood in Chapel Hill with easy access to downtown and to the University of North Carolina. Lovely place to walk in the evening.
Just a couple of blocks' walk takes you to Culbreth Road where you can pick up the D Bus [always a free ride in Chapel HIll!] that will take you to downtown Chapel Hill and to the University of North Carolina. We're also close to all major roads and interstates in the area and close to area shopping by car.
Other Things to Note
We do have one pet, a cat - but, of course, he will not be staying at the Little House! However, they have stayed there with our children in years gone by so if you're seriously allergic to cats, you may want to choose another place in Chapel Hill.
We do have a Pack and Play should you want to bring an infant - we would welcome little ones!
We ask that guests not smoke in the Little House.
We had a wonderful experience staying in the Little House. The house is charming....exceptionally clean and spacious. Carolyn and her husband Ralph were such gracious hosts. We enjoyed meeting and talking with them - they were a great resource for us as we consider a possible future relocation to the area.
The Little House is a great place to stay and Linda and I cannot recommend it more highly.
Carolyn is the epitome of Southern charm and hospitality. She made us want to move in and stay. She was very communicative about directions, what to expect at arrival and where to find things in the house. The house was very comfortable, cozy and exceedingly accomodating. The kitchen and bath were larger than expected, the living room and bedroom had all that we needed, and more. Carolyn went the extra mile to take care of us and unexpected needs.
I would like it if I could find Carolyn and The Little House in every location we travel.
We stayed at The Little House for ten days earlier in July. It was a wonderful, positive experience in every way. Carolyn and Ralph are warm, friendly hosts who made our stay the best. The house is so cozy and comfortable, and the neighboring surroundings are lovely. Carolyn provided an array of breakfast items upon our arrival and was always eager to please, offering suggestions of things to see and do in the area. The neighborhood is beautiful, and the property is private and surrounded by beautiful trees, making us feel as if we were truly "in the country." We highly recommend The Little House to anyone who will be in Chapel Hill and looking for a comfortable home away from home. The only slightly negative thing about staying at The Little House is that the bed is a double instead of queen or king. But overall the home is such a winner that we overlooked that fact. We would definitely stay there again!
We knew the house looked very cute, but we had no idea how perfect it was until Carolyn greeted us, gave us the grand tour and welcomed us with food, drink, fabulous hospitality and great cheer. We spent two lovely days in this wonderful Little House, which is perfectly designed and set up for every convenience. We didn't want to leave. And we definitely want to return. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!
Carolyn was the most amazing hostess! I am pretty sure she is the definition of southern hospitality! She left us personalized and detailed information about the Little House and also was kind enough to go the extra mile and left us treats, drinks, and breakfast foods. She was a quick and accessible communicator which we appreciated! The home itself was clean and welcoming and had everything we needed and more to make us comfortable. We loved sitting in the living room one night during a storm and reading; it was very relaxing! The home is conveniently located and Chapel Hill itself was absolutely charming. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Chapel Hill!
I had a wonderful stay at the Little House in Chapel Hill. Carolyn and her husband do a fabulous job - its truly one of the best places I have ever stayed through AirBnB. The house is homey and elegant and a perfect size - bathroom and kitchen are full size even though the house it small. Everything you need plus little extras like treats and flowers make the house welcoming. Carolyn and her husband are friendly and thoughtful - always thinking about what they can do do make your stay more comfortable. I stayed there with my 9-year old and we loved the swings and the great wooded back yard! The location also is great - close to pretty much everything in Chapel Hill but also in a quiet, lovely neighborhood near bike trails. It was a great experience!
About the Host, Carolyn
Carolyn Karpinos - retired attorney married to Ralph Karpinos who is also an attorney here in Chapel Hill. We have children and grandsons in Nashville, Tennessee and Brooklyn, New York. I am an avid photographer, enjoy cooking, and love to read. My husband is a runner and swimmer and bakes the best bread in town! We have travelled extensively in this country and are doing some international travel these days as well. I lived in Accra, Ghana for a few months and have also spent some time in Haiti as a volunteer. Chapel Hill and Carrboro are wonderful small towns - very cosmopolitan and somewhat funky - but still rooted in their southern heritage in that the pace of life is not too hurried and people are friendly. We welcome guests to this area and like being hosts!
