A charming space that's located in a quiet neighborhood close to the UNC campus & downtown Chapel Hill. Visit friends or college children, dine, & shop in the southern part of heaven or stay in to relax, read books, & cook your own gourmet meal!
The little house is truly a small and complete house - there's a charming living room complete with packed bookcase, a very workable kitchen with fridge, electric stove, dishwasher, microwave and toaster oven, a comfortable bedroom with a double bed and a television, and a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower.
The house is connected to our bigger house by a covered breezeway but has its own entrance and access by walkways directly from the driveway where you are welcome to park.
Interaction with Guests
We will be here during a guest's stay here and will be delighted to share information about "the southern part of heaven," as Chapel Hill is known. However, the little house is separate and completely private, and guests are free to come and go on their own schedules.
It's a quiet and friendly neighborhood in Chapel Hill with easy access to downtown and to the University of North Carolina. Lovely place to walk in the evening.
Just a couple of blocks' walk takes you to Culbreth Road where you can pick up the D Bus [always a free ride in Chapel HIll!] that will take you to downtown Chapel Hill and to the University of North Carolina. We're also close to all major roads and interstates in the area and close to area shopping by car.
Other Things to Note
We do have one pet, a cat - but, of course, he will not be staying at the Little House! However, they have stayed there with our children in years gone by so if you're seriously allergic to cats, you may want to choose another place in Chapel Hill.
We do have a Pack and Play should you want to bring an infant - we would welcome little ones!
We ask that guests not smoke in the Little House.
Carolyn's adorable Little House is the perfect place to stay in Chapel Hill. Close to town, stocked with all the essentials (and then some), and Carolyn was great about giving us info on how to get around and what to do. We felt very comfortable and welcome.
What a great charming little house. Clean quiet and charming. Carolyn is welcoming and lovely. The location is also very nice- away from the immediate downtown area but a really quick drive (great bus services as well). Would stay here again without hesitation - really great
Carolyn was a pleasure to work with arranging my arrival; she met me in the driveway to welcome me to the Little House. There were fresh flowers on the dining table and breakfast items in the very roomy, well equipped kitchen. I had my own parking place in the driveway. I was out of the house most of the day while in town, but my evenings were comfortable and private. The Little House is little, but plenty for one or two people. I would love to stay again next time I'm in town.
Carolyn and her husband were so welcoming to us. The Little House was all ready for us when we arrived, complete with fresh milk for breakfast, coffee, bagels, and donuts. Everything we could need was available and Carolyn graciously agreed to lend additional materials for cooking Thanksgiving dinner. The Little House is charming, very comfortable, a perfect size for 2 people, and conveniently located yet quiet and peaceful. We couldn't have had a better experience.
This was my second stay at the Little House, this time I was joined by my husband. He was equally pleased. The atmosphere is warm and bright and cozy... just perfect. We were really happy to be there and I can recommend this lovely place to anyone.
To say our experience exceeded every expectation is an understatement. From the first few minutes of our arrival I felt that we were visiting good friends or relatives. We received a warm welcome and upon touring The Little House we found everything to our liking. For a "little house" we found the kitchen and bath to be of good size and in like new condition. The decor centers laround antiques and books. We felt so at home.
Caroline and Ralph couldn't have been more welcoming and catered to our every need. When we arrived fresh breakfast foods filled the kitchen and roses were on the dining table.
We enjoyed a whole month there and when we left we felt that we were leaving good friends behind.
If you are looking for a well maintained "home away from home" in a lovely, safe neighborhood this is the place. We treasure our time there with Caroline and Ralph. I would give our experience an A+ rating.
The welcome and accommodations I enjoyed here were like being welcomed as a member of the family. Every effort was made by my hosts to ensure my comfort and needs. There were fresh flowers, books, a stocked fridge and the lovely setting. It could not have been better!
Carolyn Karpinos - retired attorney married to Ralph Karpinos who is also an attorney here in Chapel Hill. We have children and grandsons in Nashville, Tennessee and Brooklyn, New York. I am an avid photographer, enjoy cooking, and love to read. My husband is a runner and swimmer and bakes the best bread in town! We have travelled extensively in this country and are doing some international travel these days as well. I lived in Accra, Ghana for a few months and have also spent some time in Haiti as a volunteer. Chapel Hill and Carrboro are wonderful small towns - very cosmopolitan and somewhat funky - but still rooted in their southern heritage in that the pace of life is not too hurried and people are friendly. We welcome guests to this area and like being hosts!
