About this listing
This railroad style apartment in NYC features wifi throughout. There is also a spacious eat-in kitchen (for 3) as well as a dining room that can seat up to 8 people around the custom table. You'll find the study is perfect for kicking back, reading, watching TV, or bowling on the wii. In our bathroom, we are fortunate enough to have great shower water pressure and a tub. Fairly large by NYC standards, our master bedroom features french doors, a full size bed, and even a hammock. We have also carved out a creative space (filled with arts and crafts supplies) near our spare bedroom nook which is currently serving as our baby nursery. The nook features a stained glass window and a twin size bed. Basement access is also available for storage. And street parking is easily found nearby (usually right on the block).
NOTE: In July and August we install a window air conditioning unit in the Master bedroom to counter the heat (there is also a public pool at a nearby park, if you need to take a dip). And in the winter months we have steam heat throughout the apartment that keeps the place nice and toasty.
My wife and I manage a theatre company that travels the world ((website hidden)) and we both romanticize country living. So given that, the style and feel of our apartment has an eclectic vibe that reflects our journeys, our creativity, and our down home nature. If the weather permits, feel free to cruise around on our bikes (1 male and 1 female) and take advantage of the backyard (a NYC luxury) for grilling or lounging (and composting). We have also equipped the place with a washing machine (another NYC luxury), so no need to spend time and money hauling your laundry to and from the local laundromat.
The place is ideal for a couple with a child (or a tag-a-long friend) OR for a couple who expects to have a guest during their stay (spare keys are available).
The apartment is located in Woodside, Queens (on the border of Sunnyside) -- less than a block away from the subway train (3-5 minutes walking, just out of ear shot). Our subway line is the 7 train, we're off the 52nd Street stop -- about 15 minutes to Grand Central, 20 minutes to Times Square. The 7 line crosses midtown and easily connects with every line in the city going up or down, making transportation to just about anywhere extremely efficient. Air travel is also easy as both the JFK and LaGuardia Airports are very close.
This neighborhood and it's surrounding neighborhoods are some of the most culturally diverse places on the planet. You can find just about any kind of ethnic food that your heart desires within walking distance (and everything delivers). Only in this neighborhood could you find some of the best Thai restaurants in the city as well as some of the best Irish Pubs.
The neighborhood is family friendly and there is a park within walking distance with a running track, basketball courts, public pool, playground and more. Nearby Museums include MOMA Queens, Museum of the Moving Image, and Noguchi Sculpture Museum, among others. And "Sesame Street" is not so far from here either!
We have lived in New York City since 2002 and moved to this neighborhood in 2010 because of all the great amenities it offers. We couldn't be happier here and all of our guests have had a fantastic experience getting to know this special corner (or should I say, "this tasty bite") of the big apple!
