an entire hut to yourself with attached toilet and bathroom. Situated in the heart of a typical Malay village and faces the sea and beach. A 3 minute walk to sit on the beach shared with the Sheraton Resort. Free internet.
Our hut is on the beach and suitable for anyone who is concerned with saving the planet. Built from recycled materials, our hut is ecologically sound and a life changing experience for anyone wishing to get away from the cities and back to nature.
Paradoxically, our hut is close to all modern amenities but hidden from them. situated between the sea and jungle, our hut is wonderfully secluded. It is next door to the Sheraton resort so we are sharing a common beach with a 5 star hotel! A 3 minute stroll takes u to the facilities of the Sheraton. We are so lucky.
You have the whole hut to yourself, cool sea breezes and an electric fans. Coffee and tea amenities. Access to internet via a dongle or internet cafes and restaurants 15 steps nearby.
Rentals for cars, bikes, etc, local warungs (coffee/eating cafes) and small supermarket, all within walking distance. The waterfall is a ride away by motorbike, about 5 minutes and pushbike, depends on how fit and how fast you are. It is also walkable if you are that way inclined.
You will get lots of music and if you are lucky, if Moni is around, you may even get a free meal! If you love sitting on a quiet beach doing very little, this is ideal for you. Watching the fishing boats glide out at sunset and back at sunrise is something close to a spiritual experience . You can sit on a rock or dream and meditate, or wish upon a star... for the love of your life...whatever you like, everything is possible on an island like this... selamat datang, welcome!
Basic en prima.
The hut was perfect! It's away from the touristy areas and right next to a beach that's great for reading a book at. I would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't require a 5 star resort! Very cozy, great patio and a true local experience. You may need to rent a motor bike or scooter to get to some other places but theyre cheap and the roads are safe.
The hut was clean and well maintained and looked as it did in the picture, we didn't have any problems with mossies and we loved the Chinese restaurant Shin Mee which was close by. Moni and Felipes friend Paul picked us up and kindly showed us the ropes. We hadn't realised that the beach wasn't for swimming and the location meant that we needed to rent a car or scooter to get around. It wasn't exactly peaceful as there were diggers working at the front so it was a different experience from what we had hoped for from the picture.
I didn't get to meet Phil and Moni - but Paul their friend was very helpful and it was nice to get an understanding of island, locals and restaurants. Especially the tip about the cable car ride. Well worth doing.
The bungalow was clean, small, basic and everything we imagined and wanted to go back to basics for a few days and appreciate the simple life. The beach is a little further than ten steps away, but its pleasant. The sunrise from there is nice as well. Not a beach for swimming, which was a shame.
Regarding access to the Sheraton Hotel - we didn't try and get access via the back way, as felt it would have been a waste of time. Instead we rode there on our hired moped and brought some bar snacks and a cocktails and used the facilities - which was nice - as pool, wifi and sun loungers - so a few luxury hours done on the cheap and a stones through from the bungalow.
Overall a nice simple bungalow to enjoy what the island has to offer - which is fab beaches and vast greenery and jungle.
Advice - hire a moped/car - and drive around to see it all/
I can't believe I got such fantastic experience in langkawi with auntie Moni, Felipe n two donkeys. Really appreciate auntie Moni's caring n the fun u brought to me. Never regret renting the hut there. It is such a clean n tidy place with a beach around. I got a really good view in the place I stayed. Even there's a mountain besides the hut, there is no mosquito 'cause of the light machine n the new net. I enjoyed the time in langkawi with the host. Auntie Moni took me to taste the local Malay food also the club for a small musical party. What made me moving is that auntie cooked breakfast for me the last day. Since Its my first time to travel Malaysia, I only planed 3 days in langkawi. It's not enough to travel around the island. I will n must come again to meet my cute, such good crazy auntie Moni and stay in this hut in my next annual vocation.
We had a great week in Langawi! Moni and Phil were perfect hosts- they helped us get orientated on our first day and gave advice but let us have our own space as well. The hut has everything we needed-we were happy to share it with the occasional small creature. It is well located with the beach , restaurants, shops and the local fishing village within walking distance. However, as we always like to see whats round the next corner- we hired a scooter from the nearby village and were able to see most of the island during our stay. One of the highlights of the island is its wildlife -we saw monkeys, eagles, salamanders and even a great hornbill which we are told is rare. Overall it was a stress free and really enjoyable part of our holiday and we would highly recommend it.
Moni and Phil's hut is a little piece of paradise. It is quite simple, but has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. I spent many happy hours reading and lounging on the porch, listening to the sounds of nature. The beach down the street is a lovely spot to sit in the mornings and evenings. I didn't have any problems with bugs (or the monkeys), but the hut is well supplied with bug spray, etc. I love that the hut is in a village away from the main tourist area, but is easily accessible to everything.
Their friend Paul met me at the airport and got me settled in the hut and also took me a on great tour of Langkawi one day; he knows the best restaurants and makes fantastic chocolates! Moni and Phil arrived halfway through my stay and are the most gracious hosts. I'm so happy I was able to meet them.
I cannot recommend the hut highly enough and hope to be back soon.
Even though we knew the hut was basic, we were very disappointed. There is no view of the water, and the neighbour across from the hut is still constructing his building so lots of noise. No chance of sitting on the veranda and doing nothing because of this. The toilet did not work and we had to ue the toilet in another building which is very annoying when it's dark and at night. It means you have to get out and leave the hut. Even though there (email hidden), this was full of holes. Furthermore we found there was mold all throughout the hut so when you close it for a day to go out and venture, it stinks horrible when coming back. We tried to go to the Sheraton and use their facilities but unfortunately we were told to leave within 2 minutes of arrival. Which is fair enough cause we were not guests of the resort but we could not use any of the facilities. Restaurants in the area do offer great food but we decided to leave the hut after spending 1 night there. It was just plain dirty and because of the many holes/gaps in floor and walls everything that wants to get in, can. There were a few cups and plastic cups but one of them was leaking so after pouring the juice it was everywere.
We hate resorts and this is the reason why we decided to book this hut, but for us it was the biggest disappointment of the holiday and we had to find another place to stay for a few nights.
We loved our stay in Langkawi and 10 steps from the beach hut! The hut is as others have described: simple but lots of character and great balcony and outdoor setting to relax on.
The hut had everything we might have needed and really welcoming instructions. There were mozzie coils and spray, pack of cards, kite, mozzie net over the bed, long welcome note with things to be aware of, etc. We had their friend Paul's contact details in case we needed anything and got lifts on arrival and departure. As other have described the windows are made of boards or wood so to open the windows you risk mosquitos but in fact we didn't have much problems with mosquitos.
The hut backs onto lovely jungle and as others have said the beach it is near is not that lovely, bit dirty water and plain compared to Cenang.
We went to the Sheraton for a drink and swim which went great. Nearby restaurant had fantastic food and really friendly waiters.
Problems we had: we couldn't use the toilet but they gave us the key to the place next door which was really close. Place smelt like mould before we opened it up. We saw spiders in the bathroom and actually one small spider landed on Bryan in the shower! Shower water wasn't heated which wasn't unpleasant in such humid climate.
Would stay there again for sure!
We had a nice time in Langkawi and the hut made our trip special!
The hut ist quite simply, but you have everything you need on an island.
I loved the silence, you just hear the nature!
Interestingly we had no problems with mosquitos, but their are enough other animals, but it didn't matter.
(Just one animal made problems, I think it was a mouse, who loves plastic, for example bottles. You should put every plastic away.)
For us Europeans the exotic wildlife was very exciting!
I also like the beach close to the hut, i like the rocks, the shells, the grabs and the experience from ebb and flow.
Nice to relaxe and experience the island, and it is a little adventure too.
