About This Listing
If you are looking for peaceful and private accommodation, we are sure you can find it by visiting us. The hotel with 5 beautiful cabins, made out of teak wood, individual cabins lies close to the Colorado River.
I had mixed feelings about this place. It was easy to get to from the airport (about 20 minutes cab drive and about $30 / 16k Colons). It was just north of Liberia, so if you don't have a car, you're stuck there. The cabins were VERY big and spacious, and very clean. The AC worked, but it never really got cool until late at night. Room came with a key and two remotes (one for the TV). There is a restaurant on site, and the food was OK (I'm easy to please). If you don't speak Spanish you will have a hard time ordering and/or speaking to anyone. It took me about 15 minutes to find someone to check in, and I tried ordering food 3x before I actually achieved it. However, if you're here for a night or so, it's OK. The biggest pain was the fact that the music was BLARING from the time I arrived Friday afternoon until about 2 or 3am. It was loud, booming, and could be heard throughout the entire compound. No one was in the restaurant or outside, so I'm not sure why it was even on. The pool was also small, and very very crowded with small children. If you don't like family friendly spots, this place is NOT for you. If you've got small kids, you might like it.
The listing description was accurate and our cabin was clean and well-maintained at this typical bed-and-breakfast. The cabin included an air conditioner and television. The windows to the cabin did not have locks, and the gate to the hotel was shut but not locked after 10PM.
The French-Canadian co-owner was friendly and available for questions about visiting the local national park, Rincon de la Vieja. The staff seemed generally friendly and kind. The pool(s!) were very nice, clean, and refreshing.
While the included breakfast was nice, expect CR bar food for lunches/dinners at the on-site bar/restaurant. There is nowhere else to get lunch or dinner within a twenty-minute drive, and the bar/restaurant is also frequented by people who live nearby. The bar/restaurant could be fairly loud, with a TV blaring during the day and music blaring at night, but it is supposed to close by 10PM. While it closed on time on Friday, the Saturday we were there it was open late and we had trouble sleeping due to the noise, for which the co-owner apologized the next day. There was no other local noise -- otherwise, it was quiet and peaceful.
Overall, we had a decent experience and would recommend staying here if you're just getting into Liberia (as we were) and/or if you want proximity to Rincon de la Vieja without staying at the Hacienda Guachipelin.
Basic clean and safe place to overnight. Cabins rustic but comfortable. Easy to get to from the Liberia airport by rental car. Can purchase dinner so no need to go back to Liberia after checkIng in. Breakfast included. Staff friendly but English is so-so unless the owner is present.
The cabin was very simple, but in fact, we had everything we needed. Everything was nice and clean and spacious, we had airco, a good bathroom, so no complaints.
Hosts and staff were friendly and helpful.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this if you want to visit the area.
Dagoberto was very accommodating and friendly. Even though we only stayed with him for one night he told us to call him if we needed anything for the rest of our honeymoon in Costa Rica. Breakfast was a huge plate of fresh fruit, which was included in the price of the cabin. The only drawback was being woken up at 4am by a dump truck. We hadn't noticed when we arrived because it was dark, but the B&B is behind what appears to be a construction company. However, the truck in the early morning was the only noise we heard. We wished we had planned on staying longer.
