About This Listing
Minutes walk to theaters, clubs, restaurants and all night and cultural life of Sofia, as well as most historical buildings and tourist's sites, our studio sleeps 3+1 in a hip, style and it offers seafty privacy in the mids of the Capital's heartbeat
Hello, dear guest/s-to-be. We moved to the country side and are renting out our really cool loft/studio. The house that it is in, is over 130 years old! Here the first German-Bulgarian dictionaries have been written by our great grand dad, back when Bulgaria was a monarchy! During the communist time, an underground print house was run in it, and in the days of democracy a really cool vinyl records and manga comics shop brought over most of our friends in a daily base. Now-a-days we have horses and many kids, so we live in the country side, and thus our place is available for you.
We have not "off limit"areas. However there is a hostel above, and though there is a receptionist on duty 24 hours, which also provides extra safety, we mustn't bother him with too many of our inquiries. Though at times of corse we can ask him for help and he'd surely gladly provide it, after all she/he is really only responsible for the hostel's guests. So you are basically on your own. Of course you may always contact us if you feel the need to.
The location is at an inner yard, so it is quiet, and there is no direct sun light in it, making it a very good rest-well place. If you are longing for a more bright mornings - an inviting flower and greenery surrounded bench outside can become your coffee table or a laptop, or book reading bench. Please dispose of your trash at designated areas and try to keep pleasant for others. Basically: feel home but also take care of it like one.
Interaction with Guests
We live in the countryside, and though you can always contact us via airbnb, it is rather unlikely to meet us in person. Unless of course you decide to take the three hour trip, and visit our Happy Horses Estate to stay/ride at our Dome riding club-house. In any case, there is a hostel located on the floors above our place, which has a 24 hour receptionist, who can help you if there is a need.
It is hip, and cool and great overall! The nicest little coffee shops, boutiques, bistros and restaurants. Theaters, museums, everything within a few minutes walk! Just lovely :)
Please, be so kind and as a courtesy to the other guests do not smoke in the studio. There is a lovely outdoor area where you can sit and have a cigarette. Also, make sure you have turned the gas bottle valve off after each use of the stove to prevent leaking of gas. And please help us maintain our low price by turning the lights that you are not using off- the electricity price has gone way up in recent months.
머무는 내내 불편했습니다. 집은 춥고 지저분하고 어디에 앉아야 할지 고민하며 있었네요. 다시는 가고 싶지 않습니다.
The listing and the other comments here are accurate. Svilena is great, very friendly and prompt in answering messages and questions. The place is fine, and I would rent it again for short visits. In fact I had already stayed in it before, as it turned out, in 2007 when it was part of the adjacent hostel. It's extremely well located, very central, and roomy enough for one or two people. (I think more than that might feel crowded.) The hot water and water pressure were very good. A couple of disadvantages that would probably lead me not to stay here on longer visits (I am sometimes in Sofia for several weeks at a time): there's no real desk, although you can put a makeshift one together from end tables; the sofa is not real comfortable -- more like a bench; there's no normal refrigerator, but rather a commercial display refrigeration unit of the kind used in shops, and I couldn't find a way to set it below freezing, so it worked to chill things but not for refrigerator-temperature storage; there's no washing machine, TV or microwave; no AC, and I'm guessing not great airflow in the living area given the lack of windows (though I was there in cold weather, so no matter); and heating comes from a single large space heater in the kitchen, so has to be monitored closely to maintain your preferred temperature in different parts of the unit at different times. Most noticeably, as others have said, the living area is quite dark, with no direct source of outside light since the windows are all in the loft parts -- plus, the decor is heavy on dark wood and earth tones, which adds to the dark effect. Finally, though this didn't affect me, one of the sleeping areas is right next to a pretty noisy entryway and stairwell that gets a lot of foot traffic into and out of the hostel.
Again, mostly these were not problems for me during a short stay of a week-plus, and they wouldn't matter much if you're just sleeping in the apartment and away during the days. But if you need to be there daytimes and/or to work there, as I would on longer visits, they would be significant drawbacks. Excellent location and host, though! Those are very big pluses.
The loft was great, perfect location! Amazing restaurants all over in this neighborhood, and this is the happening place for the nightlife. recommend for sure.
A very cozy room with a beautiful loft and sitting area upstairs. It was pleasant to sit and read with natural light coming through the windows. The neighborhood was vibrant with lots of little shops and food options, and the hostel is just steps away from the Nevsky Cathedral and a Metro stop.
A nice quiet place to stay.
This place was so nice, I stayed there twice. The previous review tells all!
