Villa Cardano has been completely renovated and offers today 2 apartments for rent. It is located on a hill in the Spina Verde Nature Park, surrounded by a large garden and only a few minutes from Como and the motorway. The villa is easily accessible by car, train, and plane and offers gated free parking next to the house.
It is especially suited for holidays at Lake Como or day trips to Milan or Switzerland or just as a stop-over on the way from Northern Europe to Italy or Southern France.
The space
The spacious penthouse with over 70 square meters has two bedrooms, a separable living room with a pull-out sofa, which can be used as a third bedroom, a kitchen with dining area for 6 people and two bathrooms.
The living room is equipped with satellite TV (Astra with hundreds of channels in various languages) and has access to the sunny and spacious 30 sqm roof terrace, which is to be used exclusively by the guests of the penthouse.
In addition, the house has a second approximately 65 square meter roof terrace (on the cover picture with the lounge furniture), which is to be shared with the host and guests from the Studio. This terrace has a 270 ° panoramic view of Como, Lake Como, and the Spina Verde Nature Park. Even locals say that this is the most beautiful view of the lake they know.
All rooms have floor to ceiling windows from where you have a beautiful distant view or view of Lake Como, the city of Como or the countryside. The rooms can be completely darkened with exterior blinds. Although there is no air conditioning, you can in summer keep the apartment pleasantly cool by tilting the slats and let the breeze in from the mountains (other than at the lakeside where you often have a damp heat). In addition, the bedrooms are equipped with fans.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, an espresso machine, an induction ceramic hob, sink, dishwasher and refrigerator with 3 * - freezer.
The beds in the 2 bedrooms are new extra wide box spring beds which are - according to most guests - very comfortable. Also, the pull-out couch in the living room has the same measure and is equal to a normal bed.
The bedrooms are covered with parquet, the living rooms with stone tiles. The apartment is heated by underfloor heating.
Guest access
Access to the property, the enclosed courtyard with two parking spaces and the villa is each possible with a separate code lock. The tenant receives the number codes for the doors shortly before his arrival.
The penthouse is situated in the top (2nd) floor and can be reached by walking up the stairs. Please note that there is no lift available.
Other things to note
The accommodation is accessible in only 15 minutes by car from two motorway exits, the main train station Como San Giovanni or the train station in Chiasso / Switzerland. To Milan city center, to the airport Milano-Malpensa and to Lugano / Switzerland one needs only about 30-35 minutes by car. The historical center of Como is about 10 to 12 minutes by car or taxi. The walk to the city, although theoretically not very far, is not recommended because of missing sidewalks. Instead, you can walk in 10-15 minutes to San Fermo with some typical cafes and restaurants which are mainly frequented by locals.
Villa Cardano offers another apartment for 2 persons with a separate entrance for rent via AirBnB. This is also fully equipped and has a kitchenette, bathroom, and a double bed.
A travel baby bed and a high chair are available for one baby in the house on request. Please tell us right in advance to block and provide it for you and please bring your own bed linen for your baby.
Como, like many other touristic cities in Italy, charges a tourist tax which is mostly paid on-site directly to the host. Since we have code locks for self-check-in and I am not always present during your stay, the tourist tax is already included in the price of renting the apartment. This is to say that you do not have to pay extra while you are in Como. Please also check with other accommodations because most of them don't mention a tourist tax and later charge you on-site. However, as required in Italy, we ask all our guests to send us a copy of their identity documents to confirm their identity.
Please note that Villa Cardano has a huge garden and is located in the "Spina Verde" nature reserve. Therefore, there are naturally many animals around and we cannot completely prevent insects (spiders, ants, etc.) from entering the house.
