Location and view was amazing. For sure it was in general the experience that we were striving for. Especially enjoyed morning walks through the trees and vineyards. We were distracted though as some expectations were not met. The pool was not usable due to algae. towels were clean but stained. Master bath electrical was not functioning. Going in my expectations were high. These distractions unfortunately left us a bit disappointed. We would however love to return one day, but would do so with lesser expectations.
Our host, Jane Li, was wonderful - gracious, caring and very accessible She responded immediately to all questions and concerns.Five thumbs up!.
Even though our stay was very short, but we had a great time, mainly thanks to Jane. She can be described by a single word: WONDERFUL
The house was great. The pictures are real and YGWYS. However a small note: the property is in a secluded area (i.e., there's a 15+ min drive to a nearby grocery store, in case you you need to make a trip to the store as you have forgotten to bring something with you).
However that has its own advantages: At night, you feel it's just you, the vineyard, and the stars, and nothing in between. It's amazingly quiet & beautiful.
Don't forget to take your camera. You'll be taking memorable pictures.
In short here's my rating:
work with Jane: 5/5
House amenities: 3/5
Definitely a place to go back.
4088 Atlas Peak has wonderful views and you are legitimately "off the grid". None of us had cell coverage and that was great! It is quite a hike out there, so take that into consideration. You are on winding roads that eventually go down to one lane. None of us were comfortable driving it at night (we are city folk!!) so we had to readjust our plans. Jane was very responsive and replied immediately.
This house is truly as beautiful (if not more beautiful) than it looks in the photos. The outdoor space and views cannot be beat. The property itself is private and expansive (with, in addition to the pool and spa, great trails for walking, large decks for relaxing and a beautiful lake). As other reviewers have noted, it is quite a bit up a windy mountain road (about 20-25 minutes), but the ride is worth it. Jane was an amazing host - she was able to graciously accommodate a last minute rescheduling due to a family emergency and was incredibly responsive to inquiries. I would definitely come back!
The place is stunning. Wonderful setting, well laid out. A really magical place for a weekend to get away from it all - you can't see a single man-made structure from the deck.
The terrace facing the vineyard is sheltered and a beautiful spot for lunch. The pool is great and heating easy to use. The house is well thought out open plan and ideal for families.
Jane was fantastic and very helpful - including delivering a phone we left in the house to a nearby hotel to have it couriered.
Would definitely come back and recommend it.
There was a lot of bird poop around the pool which we needed to clean up in advance.
Some general minor wear and tear issues - cutlery / crockery / glassware is dated, power around the pool doesn't work, bbq hadn't been cleaned for a long time, garden around the back / side of the house hasn't been tended to for a long time.
When the wind blows (as it does in Napa) it comes down the valley and directly through the fireplace - the smoke makes it really difficult to sit in front of.
Aside from Jane, we had multiple points of contact to deal with who got involved, and gave us conflicting information about how many guests we could have to a lunch, whether we could use the back bedroom in the tasting room, and then tried to charge us more money than originally taken. It all sorted out in the end though.
