I have five rooms to rent for up to 10 people. When I had the Ben Stiller film crew in the house I hosted 12 people. State your needs and we will sort something out. i can offer a room with the best view in Iceland for one person or more.
One nice bedroom with two single beds for either 2 friends or a couple and a shared restroom (toilet/shower) on the second floor in an old charming house in Stykkishólmur.
There are four bedrooms on the second floor and the host´s bedroom and the shared living room are on the first floor. You can stay privately on the second floor or you can mingle with other guests and the owner as you like on the first floor. He can take care of sightseeing tours for you and give you good advice on what to see and so on.
Only a few steps away there is a bank, a swimming pool, some restaurants, a "supermarket" and everything you need.
The view from the house is incredible to the fjord of Breiðafjörður and there are real elves in the garden. During the wintertime this is the place for watching the northern lights or looking for Santa. You have to have one thing clear: This is an old house and there will most likely be some other guests on the second floor. But the second floor is the guests kingdom. The owner will not step into that kingdom more than absolutely needed.
The host is a local musician. I can set up a small concert for you introducing you to Icelandic music. If you are a musician it might be useful to know that there is a studio based in the village and good musicians for session work. If you have a band this might be the place to make your record or demo. The village of Stykkishólmur is only two hours drive from the capital of Reykjavík and is located on the peninsula of Snæfellsnes, the most interesting area of Iceland.
No boos, no drugs, no smoking inside, peace and quiet after 23 o´clock.
The kitchen and the garden are not included but I have a bad eye sight. But if you use it, it is on your own responsibility and at your own risk. Im am a bit of a hillbilly you know...
Wonderful and welcoming host! Beautiful view. Comfortable bed in house with lots of charm. I recommend this place.
Heimir was such a wonderful host, and we had a lovely stay at his house. Upon our arrival, Heimir even helped us to plot out a route to see the peninsula on a map he provided for us. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area! We had a wonderful stay!
Heimir's home definitely has a character, you'll feel like you're staying at your friend's house. We got a small room with great view of the town's bizarre church. Heimir was knowledgeable and got us breakfast in the morning. All in all, we had a good time.
We came to Stykkisholmur to relax in Autumn, after our plans to drive the Ring Road changed due to the weather. Stykkisholmur was understandably very quiet in late September, but the pools & Volcano museum were open. Heimir was a good host. Though I know previously he's been keen to show guests the village & perhaps some of the peninsula, we just wanted to relax after a number of days on the road & he gave us the space to do that. The double room has lovely views & the house is in great location for driving the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Thank you for our stay Heimir.
Heimir was polite, correct and punctual with us. His home is in the centre of the town, however it seems small to so much rooms. We missed more comfort, as shower towels, and the price seems some expensive.
Heimir is a great host.. I appreciated his dry sense of humor, and he was very accommodating our arrival time. Ask for one of the rooms with a view. The view is a good one.
Heimir was a very welcoming and hospitable host; he not only picked me up when I arrived, he also took me back to the bus stop when I left which I was very grateful for because my suitcase is extremely heavy.
He also drove me around the area so I could get some special views of the area and some excellent pictures of Icelandic horses and sheep! (In the buses you can never get those wonderful pictures that you want to take so it was fantastic to have my own driver to stop and go where ever I wanted.)
I would recommend this place to people who like old rustic charm and the chance to meet a real local who knows and loves his home. Thank you Heimir!
Heimir's house is very old and full of charm. The upstairs' rooms have all been renovated and are very comfortable, but the bathroom is still "work in progress". I hope the next time I come the bathroom and the kitchen will be finished and then it will be the perfect house by the sea with wonderful deck with spectacular views of the sea and that amazing hit you in the eye modern church perched up on top of the hill.

Not much to say. Im an easy going person that lives alone with enough space for guests. I like to comunicate with open minded people from different cultures and showing them around my smal northern village. My village is the perfect place to relax from the noice and stress of the big cities, listen to the silence or watch the birds and our unspoiled nature. The locals are friendly and our cluture is different. This is a smal fishermans and farmer village mostly. I would love to show you around.
