The location of this apartment is fantastic. A close walk to Gran Via, two major Metro stations and proximity Calle La Bolla and the opera house made this an ideal stay for my two months in Madrid. Since the owner did not easily speak English (and my spanish is not good), we communicated through her friend Christina and this was very easy and helpful.
First off, great WIFI. Never did I have a problem using (website hidden) or Facetime or Viber. This is always very important, and it worked flawlessly (password is under the router). There is also a fine wall mounted tv that carries most of the major Spanish channels (no CNN or BBC). Secondly, there are many markets for buying your own food nearby, making this a very favorable location. The supermercado Dia is just up the street and a little walk down Calle Preciados will take you to El Corte Inglés where you can buy anything you could want.
Though some previous reviews have complained about street noise due to the club a few flours below, I never heard any disruptions other than a few intances of revelry during the major Holidays (Christmas, New Year and Epiphany). The apartment was quiet and welcoming after a full day of work and wandering the streets of Madrid. A few times I did I hear music from a neighboring apartment, but only on a Saturday evening. Not too bad for a city that stays up so late.
In the euro style, the bed is two singles pushed together to create one king sized bed. A red futon also folds out flat for a bed as well. The apt "could" sleep 4 but it'd be a tight fit. All linens were fresh and ironed. The kitchen was perfect, though a lack of bakeware/ovenware made baking and oven cooking difficult. I'm sure if I had asked the owner she would have been happy provide a baking sheet and bakeware. There is a small (stovetop) two cup coffee maker. No hot water kettle, but one can boil water on the stove. No Microwave is provided if you like that sort of thing, but there is a blender and a traditional toaster for bread.
Two small "Juliette" balconies and tall windows open up to provide plenty of fresh air and mostly reflective sunlight. The elevator was always working, and the building was always clean.
I would recommend this apartment for a retreat with a central location. Great for a couple for a week or so, or a single business person for longer. I hope to visit again!
Very nice apartment. The hosts were friendly and easy to communicate with. Sweet view and awesome area.
We had a great 1 week stay at Luisana's apartment. It is clean and is a spacious studio for comfortable sleeping set up for 2. Washing machine for laundry was nice to (website hidden) and kitchen seemed to be very new. Internet/wifi was easy to set up, stable, and fast.
Great restaurants around the area and the apartment is located an easy 20 minute walk to almost all tourist attractions. There are also subway stops to get you anywhere within a 5 minute walk.
I did find the bathroom a bit on the small side and the towels provide were a bit rough. If you are a light sleeper you may be bothered by street noise given how central the apartment is located. We didn't have any problems sleeping with the noise though.
This is a great apartment for a visit to Madrid. I liked the apartment and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if returning to Madrid.
Mercedes handled my three-month stay both attentively and graciously. She was always very responsive to any questions I had via both email and text. You could not choose a more central and convenient location in Madrid if you want to be in the middle of the action. Shopping, public transport, restaurants, large and small grocery stores and the surrounding districts of Malasaña, Chueca, Sol, Huertas and others are easily walkable. Wi-Fi worked without a hitch, kitchen utensils covered all my needs and the bedding and linens are all nice. This is a great place to call home for a either a long- or short-term stay!
The perfect flat for a business traveler or a husband and wife visiting Madrid.
The location just couldn't be any better - You are in the heart of Madrid.
The flat is very clean and has all the amenities you would need.
Just out front is a taxi stand and you are only a 5 minute cab ride to the train station.
I will definitely book the flat again and I suggest you do too.
Luisana was so nice and met me at the front door upon my arrival.
My experience was a 10/10
You have a treat in store for you if you decide to stay here. The apartment was impeccably neat and clean. It was also fresh, modern and uncluttered - which is uncommon. The host is very welcoming, pleasant, committed, and helpful. The location makes it walking distance from the Museo del Prado, the palace, the Atocha train station (if you're a good walker), and it is extremely easy and economical to get there from the airport via Metro.
Three people was fine, but it will be tight to fit in 4.
The apartment is actually a large studio in a great location just behind Gran Via. Its only a short walk from the Palace, Plaza Mayor, and tons of other things to see. Luisana was great and communicated extremely well throughout the entire trip. If going to Madrid I would highly recommend this apartment.
