The Space

Welcome to our comfortable guest room available to international students and local travelers. It is also a great "in between place" if you are closing escrow on your new house or just in town for business for a few weeks. I am an empty-nester now in a house that is decidedly too large. My son is at college in Clearwater, Florida at the Center of Neurosomatic Studies and he stops in now and then.

Here is why you will enjoy your stay with us:

o Large 11'- 6" x 15'- 6" room with vaulted ceilings
o A lot of natural light from a big 6ft x 6ft window
o Very nice, firm queen size luxury mattress in modern wood frame
o Good size closet with shelving
o 32" Flat Screen LED TV with Dish
o Adjoining shared bathroom with shower and granite counters
o Desk area, bookcase and dresser
o Microwave and Hot Plate
o Wireless internet and cable
o 20 x 40 Pool access with barbecue area
o Sun deck for tanning, lounging
o On site laundry
o Kitchen privileges
o Updated, modern house
o Street parking is free
o Quiet and safe neighborhood
o Easy freeway access in 1 mile
o Local lake, hiking, beach is 15 minutes away
o Great Yoga center close by for $10 class

We have the best weather in the world (I am told) and enjoy a quiet coastal lifestyle with good local schools. I also recommend a local tour of the Malibu wineries. This will give you a flavor of our local life!

Guest Access

My guests enjoy lounging by the pool and sipping wine. There is a fantastic patio area for reading a book or for chatting it up. The house also has wireless internet so you can take your lap top outside and work by the pool. You are also welcome to cook your own full breakfast in the well appointed kitchen!

Interaction with Guests

I give my guests total privacy and make myself available for travel and restaurant recommendations. Each guest is greeted and given a full house walk through to show special features and orientation to the home. Guests can freely prepare their own Continental breakfast in the well equipped kitchen!

The Neighborhood

This area is a mix of sophisticated trendy and family oriented. We have all the world class shopping at local malls. You can usually spot celebrities at local cafes, there are great restaurants but people really live here for the schools which are the top in Los Angeles. Even the people from Beverly Hills and Malibu move here for the West Valley schools! My area is a nice, upper middle class area (integrated with different cultures and intelligensia) and very safe with a rambling nursury and a popular biker's bar in walking distance. We have great international restaurants featuring Indian, Persian, Thai and Chinese foods. There is upscale dining at Ruth Chris, Roy's, Mangianni's, King's Seafood, etc. within 5 minutes. There is an Irish Pub, English Pub, a Mexican Biker's Bar... and a Corner Bakery. There is also a fun Farmer's market down the street every Saturday!

Getting around

This is Los Angeles. You got to have a car! The train station is 10 minutes away for longer trips along the coast.

Other Things to Note

I have a long haired, Persian cat named MacKenzie. He is calm and curious with guests. If you are allergic, you must keep your door closed. Otherwise, the house is kept tidy.

  • Sarah couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. She is very knowledgeable about local sights to see and things to do, and has a lovely home. The neighborhood is so peaceful and quiet, and waking up to the beautiful pool and serene surroundings was a joy.

  • My son was traveling across country for the first time and Sarah made it easy not to worry. Nice place and he is very happy there - he will be there all summer.

  • We were hosted by Sun's son, he is willing to help and friendly. The place was a little messy when we checked in. And it will take about 1 and a half hour taking bus to Hollywood. It will be nice for someone who has a car. Other things, overall, were nice, quiet neighborhood and convenient facilities. If you are pet friendly, it will be a good place to stay.

I am an empty nester and and have lived in this area since college and raised my family here. My lifestyle is healthy and I enjoy all the local outdoor activities. My interests are design, architecture, art, gardening, fine dining and travel. I enjoy quiet, low key and peaceful individuals who are calming to be around. I value tolerance, humility and acceptance and try to extend the same grace to others. I travel frequently for business and enjoy meeting interesting people. I love tropical environments and exotic foods.
