Other Things to Note
We'll give you the code for the gate and a remote control to open and close the gate for easy comfortable access
Also, so the tub stays clean between Wednesday weekly cleanings, PLEASE COVER THE TUB AFTER EACH USE. If and when it is not covered the tub gets dirty due to high maui winds and the fact that we're in the middle of a jungle. If that is the case the pool guy George comes out and cleans it, he comes every wednesday, but if we need him to come before that, he'll do his best to make it ASAP, thus we cannot guarentee he'll be ready and able to come at the drop of a hat and have the tub cleaned after its been uncovered. At the same time, we're doing everything we can to remind guests of spa/pool rules, putting signs up, charging extra cleaning fees when the tub is uncovered, etc, thus this should not be a common occurence. PLEASE DO YOUR PART, MAHALO!
There is a 14% fee added for taxes. I will give you details as to how to pay for it separate from airbnb. To add it in the fees would make your airbnb host fee more expensive so we do it separately as well as for clear accounting purposes. Maui county is very strict with taxes, mahalo.
NO SHOES in the house. It's part of our Hawaiian culture and it helps keep germs and dirt away and out of the cottage, some guests have complained, (maybe one) if its a big deal, you don't have to, I say try it! its a cleaner way to live :) While you are here, it's your home, treat it as such, with love and respect for the 'aina' (land) and respect for the electricity bill, its highest in the country! If your gone for the day, please turn off the lights in the bathroom and bedrooms. We have patio and sensor lights for when you arrive at night. Also, if your using the spa before 7pm or after 10pm, REMEMBER TO TURN IT OFF afterwards. It is set on a timer and will turn on between 7-9pm. Most importantly PUT THE COVER BACK ON WHEN YOUR DONE USING SPA, the spa can turn into a mess if COVER IS OFF due to all of the leaves and wind on maui and it won't be usable the next day unless we call the pool guy who cannot always come right away and who charges extra if he has to come on a day that he's not scheduled. If your leaving the next day, and the spa is not covered the guests after you won't have access to spa until the pool guy shows up to clean it, so also out of respect to the guests after you; put the cover back on. Also, if you do leave the spa cover off, we have to charge you a spa cleaning fee.
NO CHARCOAL IN PROPANE GRILL! Yes a prior guest did this and destroyed our grill, luckily the house didn't explode.
Blow out candles when done using them and take all of your belongings with you, a double run through is a good idea. Please look at the email I send all my guests for detailed instructions. In addition, we just put up signs for further clarity and to help you remember, its easy to forget things when your having a good time! :) I will email you our guestbook which is also available in printed form on the coffee table- info to zipline, waterfalls, ocean, nearby restaurants, fine dine, health food stores, massage, fitness and yoga instructor contacts, jacuzzi info, info on the house basics and information to your road to hana trip. much aloha and many mahalos! welcome to maui wowy!
Our stay at Ululani was fantastic. We loved the privacy and quietness of the house and gardens. It really is a private jungle oasis. The pool is in a fabulous location just up a path from the house. Even though it is shared, we didn't encounter another soul the entire 4 night stay.
The house is perfect for two couples or a family. We (4 adults 1 toddler) found it to be the perfect size for us. The open concept and separated bedrooms are
really nice. The wrap around patio and the view from both bedrooms are lovely.
We could easily spend a week or longer in this beautiful tranquil place. Highly recommended.
Note: the kitchen is well stocked for cooking including a fabulous vitamix blender. We enjoyed cooking and dinners on the lanai.
Enjoyed our stay at the Ulaini house in the jungle. House layout is very nice for two couples and the Lanai has a beautiful view of the jungle and the ocean in the distance. Enjoyed the hot tub daily, only used the pool once as the weather did not cooperate, but the pool is beautiful. Very private and well maintained home
Beautiful home and very secluded for quiet and privacy. A good place to start the drive to Hana. Nice place to get away from the tourist-y feel.
If your looking for an authentic off the beaten path Maui experience then this is the rental for you. We were two couples looking for a private tropical location to enjoy. The home has a great hot tub and a small pool to enjoy all to yourself. It is wonderful in the evening to enjoy the outdoors and the stars in. The house was a great size. Plenty of private space and space to gather and share meals and relax. You will be surrounded by gorgeous foliage in the gardens and the house staff that tends to the property are very friendly and helpful should you need anything. The bedrooms and bathrooms are of equal size and both very comfortable. The lanai area is large enough for a BBQ and evening with friends and family.
This was exactly what we expecting, and were hoping for, a secluded jungle retreat. A few hundred yards off the road and a million miles from everywhere. The house was beautiful and had everything we could need or want. The zipline company just down the road was fabulous, we had a great time with them.
We arrived to the house at night and instantly noticed it was dirty. A lot of dirt on the tile floor inside. Dishes in the dishwasher, wet clothes in the washer machine, random shirt on the walkway toward the pool, dirty rag hanging from the deck, random food and drink in the fridge and freezer, kitchen cabinets and pantry disorganized with food and cleaning supplies mixed together, mildew covering the shower curtain, dirty wet towels and dirty unmade bedding in the second bedroom, smelling so fowl, we thought something may have died in there. We ended up cleaning the place ourselves except the second bedroom. We contacted the owner with these issues. She responded saying there was some confusion and her and the care taker made excuses for every issue. We were never informed during the rental process that we would not have access to both bedrooms. We also found it suspicious that the owner requests a 14% tax fee in cash a day before we arrive. The care taker had no clue how to turn on the hot tub when we asked. We were only provided 2 towels for our 7 Night stay. The water pressure was nonexistent. We didn't let this experience ruin our honeymoon and still had a great time once we cleaned the house ourselves.
Awesome home away from home. Beautiful location. We will definitely go back if we decide to visit Maui again. Mahalo.
