Joyce was a most welcoming host and easy-going about all of our requests, whether it was for more pots and pans, moving furniture around to our liking, and explaining the house rules. The house was more than we were expecting based on the Airbnb description and photographs: it is very roomy and very private. Perfect for two couples. The kitchen was large and well equipped, even though not with a very modern stove. The neighborhood may be more "native" than some would like: barking dogs, loud roosters, a lot of street noise in the evenings, but we felt very safe and enjoyed being part of the neighborhood--and the view is to die for. A very steep hill must be climbed to reach the house, which should be mentioned in the description and there are a lot of stairs inside the house. Tenants had better be fit! If you are looking for a Better Homes and Gardens experience, Tecolote #20 is not for you; it has all the basics, a lot of charm, and a very attentive landlady.
Living in Casa Tecolote was just a pure mexican experience which we enjoyed a lot. Even my 84 years old mother was feeling at home. Joyce gave us very interesting pieces of advice like the masks museum and the toys museum. And San Miguel de Allende is so beautiful !
