A beautiful hideaway, even in the winter. Very clean and heating and stove working perfectly. Our baby daughter enjoyed all the animals, especially the two kind dogs.
Luisa, Francesco and their family are very nice and relaxed people.
We stayed here for two nights in winter. The location is lovely and the apartment has a rustic, country vibe. Francesco and Louisa were extremely welcoming and their yoghurt, cheese and pickles are absolutely delicious!
I have delayed writing this review because I just don't know how to put into words how special this place is! The warmth and kindness and positivity of Francesco and Luisa cannot be overstated. From the homemade soap on the bathroom sink to the basket of fresh eggs to the woodstove that had been lit and stoked hours before our arrival, Francesco and Luisa were the most thoughtful hosts we could ever hope for. And their farm and the apartment are gorgeous. The apartment is rustic, cozy, and unique. Plus, there are all sorts of dear, sweet animals for all you animal lovers. In addition, Citta della Pieve is a stunning historic place, very near, with a vibrant local economy and fantastic restaurants. Try the cornetto al cioccolato at Caffe degli Artisti. If you get there early enough, you might get one hot from the oven. Heaven. Francesco provided two excellent hand-drawn maps with helpful notes about restaurants and other places to go. The location is also a fabulous home base for exploring Umbria and Tuscany, which we did with our rental car. Ask Francesco for the map of the hot springs in San Casciano de Bagni. Totally worth the trip. Go at night. But we also could have blissfully stayed put on the farm for the whole time, reading, writing, and unwinding. I communicated with our hosts in Italian and learned a lot about the farm and how self-sustaining they are. These are two inspiring and lovely people that we feel very thankful to have met. We will never forget them, and will return as soon as we possible can. Grazie mille, Francesco e Luisa. Non potremmo immaginare un soggiorno più meraviglioso e ricostituente.
You can feel that you are getting to a special place right from entering the Cimbolello driveway. If you wish to see Italy's offbeat paths and enjoy real food of real people Francesco's and Luisa's place could be the one. Simple with rustic charm, green hills serenity and the best olive oil we ever tasted. We felt home far away from home. We wish to show them Vermont one day.
Grazie per l'esperienza!
This place is absolutely amazing! If you want to have a taste of the Italian countryside this is it. Francesco and Luisa are incredible hosts. From the moment you drive onto the farm you feel so welcomed. The farm itself is so relaxing and we were able to catch the gorgeous sunset each night we were there. There are two adorable dogs that served as our guides one morning around the farm as well as plenty of other animals to see and interact with.
Citta Della Pieve is only a 5 minute drive away. It's a perfect small Italian town with the best food we had in all our travels through Italy. There's also a lot of really cool shops and things to see.
Our stay at Cimbolello was absolutely excellent - we enjoyed every minute of it.....Francesco and Luisa are incredible hosts, very helpful and the accommodation is very beautiful, peaceful and charming.
Highly recommended staying at Cimbolello with Francesco and Luisa and their wonderful two dogs as well as their fantastic olive oil and all their other products of this farm.
Real nice place and people. Francesco and Luisa are nice and kind.
Totally recommend it for a real experience.
I spent a week at this lovely farm, mid-October. Since I clicked in my booking, Fransesco and Luisa were very informative and welcoming. And, from the moment I met them, they were the most welcoming, warmhearted and hospitable hosts you could ever want! I felt so welcome :-) They are lovely people, and I agree with others here, even the dogs are super nice! It doesn't matter if you don't speak Italian, they can communicate very well with some English, smiles and gestures.
During my stay, a basket with fresh eggs was complimentary in the rustic kitchen, together with nice espresso. In the morning, Luisa came with fresh sheep yoghurt and newly made jam from quince and grape. Delicious! This is the perfect place for those who want to experience the true Italian countryside, and the most beautiful too! The studio is very well made, authentic, clean, beautiful and eco-friendly. It is also well equipped with all you need to make food, if you want that. The wi-fi is working fine (I was working there) by a wall connection. The village is a half hour brisk walk away, but bring a flash light for the return under the stars. Citta della Pieve is a magic village. Very Italian, and not touristic at all. The location is perfect for day trips to Pienza, Montalcino, Castiglione di Lago etc. but I found Citta della Pieve to be the real gem! Try Bistrot del Duca for lunch and dinner (fantastic!), and you will also find a lot of other great places for gelato, wine, pizza etc. People are so friendly there.
I highly recommend Cimbolello, but for people who appreciate the quiet, rustic, natural and real Italian country life. Gracie Mille to my hosts! Thank you for the great hospitality, the dinner, the pasta making, and for sharing your paradise with AirBnB. :-))) I hope to return!
A lovely apartment on a farm just outside the attractive village of Citte della Pieve within reach of many wonderful Tuscan and Umbrian sites and only 2 hours drive from Rome. Even the dogs were impeccably behaved. Highly recommended.
My husband and I are so glad that we went off the beaten path and stayed at Francesco and Luisa's farm, who were fantastic hosts and did everything to make our stay very comfortable. They were so hospitable, it was like visiting distant family. Accommodations were rustic but comfortable, with everything we needed. It's a well-kept farm with sheep, honey bees, lavender, olive trees and a vineyard in a beautiful country side, up in the hills.
We had an unforgettable stay, a real way to experience Italy. The farm is a great hub to drive to other areas of Tuscany and Umbria. There is a quaint little town nearby where we had our best meal of the whole trip, and we would have never known about it if not for Luisa's suggestion. We can't recommend enough staying at Francesco and Luisa's farm and we are already dreaming about going back.
