About this listing
A bright and comfortable south facing room with en-suite facilities in a large modern penthouse flat. The room opens to a large balcony with great views of the River Clyde and the City. Located near the Clyde Arc Bridge, the Glasgow Hydro concert hall, SECC conference & exhibition centre, BBC, STV and media centre. With good private parking. Good restaurants and nightlife are within walking distance. Breakfast is included.
The open and bright room with its elevated location above the river gives stunning views of the city and several of its well known landmarks. The large balcony has tables and chairs and is great to sit out on with a cup of coffee or glass of wine on a good day or evening. The city lights are colourful at night. The room has its own tea and coffee machine with a good variety of teas and coffees. Also provided in the room are a writing desk, storage, a "smart" TV with built in WiFi, a clock radio alarm with a "Lightning" connector and Bluetooth. There's a safe in the wardrobe which is big enough for cameras or iPads and there's a hairdryer in a drawer. A wireless network operates throughout the property which gives internet access, and there's a network printer which can be useful for printing out boarding passes etc. There is a fridge in the living room for the use of guests. There are plenty of power points in the room for laptops or chargers.
The room has a modern en-suite with all the usual facilities including a good sized shower. Guests also have exclusive use of a separate bathroom (with bath) in the adjacent hallway. Towels, soaps & shampoo are all provided. There is a shared lounge/sitting room which has a built in fridge with bottled water and soft drinks. A freshly prepared continental breakfast is provided in the shared breakfast area at a time to suit guest's arrangements. We are able to be versatile in most respects.
Interaction with guests
We are delighted to meet our guests at the gate and bring them in and show the accommodation along with a welcoming cup of tea or coffee. We like Glasgow and know the city and area well so hopefully, can suggest good shops, restaurants, and entertainment.
There's easy walking access to the City Centre (along the new landscaped riverside walkway) or to the West End. Nearby, the local area has been transformed with a thriving bar and restaurant area. The immediate area includes the SECC exhibition and concert centre, the Armadillo, the new Glasgow Hydro, Sky-park business complex, and shipping heritage in the form of the Finnieston Crane and old docks. The iconic transport museum, the Tall ship, Kelvin Hall and Kelvingrove Art Gallery are within walking distance. The Pacific Quay media district is just across the Clyde Arc (Squinty!) Bridge. The BBC and STV buildings face the river with the Science Centre and Tower a little further along, near the berth for the Waverley paddle Steamer.
If needed, at no extra charge, there is a spacious car parking bay for one car in the private covered car park. (A vehicle height restriction of 1.9 metres applies & although our car park has always been very secure we can't accept liability for vehicles or contents). There are very also good bus and local train links. Taxi's tend not to be very costly as Glasgow is a fairly compact city. The airport is about 20 minutes away by car, a little longer on the regular bus services. Taxis from the airport charge between £20 up to around £25. If you mention that the apartment is near the Clyde Arc, (nicknamed, "Squinty") bridge you can often negotiate a cheaper fixed price as it is not as far as the city centre.
Other things to note
Conferences, exhibitions and concerts - The apartment is very close indeed to the SECC conference and exhibition centre and to the Glasgow Hydro arena. They are only a couple of minutes walking distance. We offer special pricing for stays of 7 days or more which show automatically on the Airbnb system. For longer stays arrangements are completely flexible with use of the kitchen or laundry room if required. If attending the Edinburgh Festival or other Edinburgh or central Scotland events - commuting by train from Glasgow is relatively easy. The station is a short journey by a frequent bus service or about a half hour walk from the flat. A taxi would be around £6 to the furthest away station. Most of the major car hire firms are located within a couple of blocks making it easy to collect or return a car.
There is no smoking inside the property - thanks!

We are outgoing with a lot of interests and are pleased to meet others in our home. We really enjoy staying here. Ev is originally from London and Bill, although widely travelled, is from Scotland. Ev is interested in art, photography, travel and languages. Bill has been involved in communications, science, writing, and, more recently, in online wine retailing. Business sometimes takes us to Europe, France and Spain in particular, so Ev's knowledge of French is a great help. Glasgow has a marvellous variety of restaurants and we enjoy eating out. Loch Lomond and the wonderful Scottish countryside are easily accessible from Glasgow and we like to take short breaks away.
