The apartment is located in the 2nd line from the sea in Miramar Beach. It is a cozy space with two terraces, one east and the other to the west where you can enjoy the view of the sea.
The breakfast on the terrace, or even a candellight dinner are small pleasures that I enjoy in my home. The high ceiling has allowed me to build a mezzanine room in wood which contributes to a warmer environment and acolhedor. Tradicionaly used as a library but in which an extra mattress can be placed.
The guests have access to the parking space and two bikes to choose from. The area has lane for cyclists so this is a very nice option.
Interaction with Guests
I will be available for any information about places to visit, tips on hotel supply and other needs that are in my power to satisfy.
Miramar is a very quiet location. For golf lovers the field abuts the beach.
The fishermans village of Aguda is about 1.5 km where fresh fish is (website hidden) you can also visit the Estação Litoral da Aguda an aquarium showing the local fauna and aquatic flora, especially marine.
Miramar has a train satation and this is undoubtedly the most effective means of public transport. In just 15 minutes you arrive at Oporto and in 5 minutes in the city of Espinho, where you can enjoy a fish stew or a seafood rice wille watching the sea.
Other Things to Note
2 beds, one double and one single and a sofa bed.
Wish you make good use of the time, leaving the space in good condition.
Celia's apartment is roomy, comfortable and the perfect place to relax. Located on the third floor you can have breakfast and enjoy a great view of the sea and Senhor de Pedra, the little church on the rocks from one of two balconies. Grocery store is just around the corner, cafés and the beach/boardwalk are 5 minutes away.
Celia has a great knowledge of the area and is more than willing to help with any questions. There's a beautiful, little, traditional fishing village close enough to walk to and have lunch. There's a golf course just off the beach and a bike in the garage to use on the trails. Everything I needed was close by and Celia is a great host. I would certainly stay here again. Miramar is beautiful and Celia's apartment is perfect.
The welcome was very warm and friendly. Celia was away and her sister ,Rute, and her friend, Ricardo, made sure all was well before leaving.
Two balconies! One east and one west facing. You get the sun all day that way if you relax at apartment.
2 min walk to sea. 1 min to mini market/bar. Very good fresh fish meals in local restos (looking out to sea as you eat) for 7.50€. Soup of the day 1.30€. A beachside coffee/beer 1.20 or less. Train into porto 1.90€. All amazing value. We pay twice/three times that in France if location is nice!
Used the bikes in garage too. Safe bike lanes along coast. Celia needs to explain and show off more that she has on her doorstep!!
In all, a value for money apartment in a good location. We stayed 5 nights. Thanks...will be back.
Celia was ace! Great host and very helpful, the apartment was just as described and in a lovely area, quiet and close to the beach but with great transport links directly into Porto.
Would recommend, thanks for a great experience!
We were very warmly welcomed by Celia, who picked us up from the train station by car and showed us the neighborhood when we arrived, and explained the highlights of the surroundings and Porto on the map.
The apartment is as advertised and has a very nice terrace. Beds are basic. We cooked our own dinner a few times - there is a little supermarket, open daily, just around the corner. There are also a few restaurants at walking distance, and once we used the bikes to have diner at the nice pizzeria in the next town, Aguda. It's lovely to have the beach at walking distance. Although the sea has the reputation of being very cold, for us (Dutch) the water was certainly warm enough for swimming, but note that depending on the tide, sometimes it is too dangerous to swim.
I also enjoyed playing the piano, although unfortunately the pedals do not work.
We had some problems sleeping the first nights due to mosquitoes, this was solved by changing rooms and using repellent (DEET), so be sure to bring some repellent if you are sensitive to mosquitoes.
Regarding the bikes - for us they were good for small distances, to go to Porto one bike was a bit too small and heavy for me. But the train station is close and brings you to Porto for only €1,40.
Overall we had a good experience for a very affordable price.
Our host was responsive during the reservation process and quite helpful when we arrived, offering information and assistance to get settled in. The flat was perfect in terms of location, size and comfort. It was certainly reflective of the listing and exceeded our expectations. We were a 3 minute walk from the beach with a gorgeous view of the Senhor da Pedra chapel from the balcony. There was a neighbourhood grocer just around the corner and the neighbourhood is quite friendly.
The apartment was great, with the view on the little church, we took the train to get to Porto and visit during the day (1/2 an hour) and came back in the afternoon to go to the beach, which is just next to the apartment. We had a very nice time and Celia took very good care of us, providing us a garage, and many advices. Thanks !
