Just steps away is the Baraboo river and down the street the Baraboo River Canoe & Kyak rental. On main street you can purchase freshly baked goods at the Village Market & Bakery. North Freedom also has an auto repair shop, a family sit down restaurant, local tavern and launder-mat. The village park has a new boat landing, pier, picnic areas and playground equipment, perfect for a family gathering. West of town is the Railroad museum, where you can ride a historical train or enjoy a dining railway experience.

Baraboo is a short 10 minute drive. There you can tour the historic Circus World Museum, hike the trail at Devils Lake State park, catch a movie at the restored Al Ringling Theater, taste wine at the Baraboo Bluff Winery, shop the unique shops situated around the historic Baraboo Square. Don't forget the Saturday/Wednesday Farmer's market and a fresh brewed coffee at the Coffee Bean Connection.

Wisconsin Dells is 15 minutes north and Reedsburg is 10 minutes west, where they have the 400 Bike Trail, as well as Dutch Hollow Lake and Lake Redstone. Spring Green is a 30 minute scenic drive south to see House on the Rock, Taliesin and the American Players Theater.
