Wayan picked us up from our lunch spot. The rooms are as nice as the picture. Everything about the room was superb - love the spaciousness of the room, the semi-outdoor shower and the firm bed! Breakfast was delicious - we had omelettes one morning and pancakes (more like stuffed crepes) the second day. Both were excellent and more than restaurant standard! He brought us to the market in the morning and cooked the duck Balinese-style when we returned from the market. We had it for dinner and loved it! It was a real pity we didn't get to taste his Italian food, which is his specialty. He also recommended a good driver to bring us around on our last day .
We had a lovely 6 night stay with Wayan and his family at Manada Guesthouse. The room was clean and comfortable, well designed and furnished (we loved the huge shower!). Breakfast was a plate of fruit followed by something different most days eg pancakes, omelette, etc. Tea and Balinese coffee was provided at all times throughout the day. Wayan takes pride in looking after his guests. He took us on a lovely tour around ubud which included the holy water temple, rice paddies, traditional villiage and much more....it was well priced. Wayan also dropped us off at different places at no cost and educated us on his culture.
We would certainly recommend this place to those looking for a traditional Balinese experience with the comforts of home. Thank you Wayan and family.
We stayed at Wayans two nights and had a great stay! Breakfast was the best in Ubud and Wayan took us to places we never would have seen. Great host and wants to show you Ubud and we also got to see a ceremony which was great! Would recommend others to go to stay at Wayans and they will have a great experience of Ubud!
I stopped in Bali for two nights on my way home to America from Australia. I decided to stay with Wayan because of his great reviews and location. We had a little hiccup at first. He went to the airport to pick me up and we never found each other. So I ended up taking a cab to Ubud and staying at the Beji Hotel, which is three minutes from his place and was pretty spectacular.
The next day Wayan and I connected and he said he couldn't sleep because he was worried about me. He came to the hotel, met me and took me to the end of ceremony at his Temple near his home. Then the following day he took me around Ubud; local markets, holy water temple, rice fields... And a few others. He's a great person and loves his guest. I would recommend him and his home to anyone. It's a good location and he will help you with anything. I never ended up staying there, but he really went out of his way to help me and show me around, and make me feel like family.
Wayan and his family made my stay in Ubud an experience I will never forget. In all the places I have travelled to, I have never felt more welcome. I ended up extending my stay for another night, and I wish I could have stayed even longer.
Wayan is an excellent chef, and I was well fed and watered during my stay. His black rice pudding was a special highlight, as well as his delicious breakfasts.
The room was beautifully presented, clean and spacious. I especially enjoyed the perks of the outdoor shower, high speed wifi and a comfortable bed. The rooms are of a high hotel standard, and much nicer than many hotels I have stayed in. Wayan takes great pride in keeping the guesthouses clean and tidy, and the surrounding gardens and paths are well kept.
Wayan took me on many walks, motorcycle rides, market tours, temple trips and always with a gracious and generous smile. As a solo female traveller I always felt safe and secure, and Wayan made sure I was never ripped off when buying things.
I cannot recommend staying with this family highly enough, it made my trip to Bali a truly authentic experience, and I feel so lucky to have made such special friends. I know your own time in Bali will be unique if you choose to stay with this family.
I booked with Wayan for 2 nights and loved it so much, I decided to stay for another night! Wayans place was nice and clean, just like the pictures. He was super accommodating arranging our tours and transport for us, while getting the best deals possible! It was so nice to stay with someone who knows the area and makes you feel at home on his property. We had his sister come give us in room massages and they were wonderful. He also had a scooter we could rent from him which was perfect because his place is a little out of ubud. We had such a great stay and can't wait to come back again!
