Only 4km from the centre of Ubud, but far from the bustling traffic, this is the perfect location for those wanting to understand traditional Balinese life or to just relax and enjoy the real Bali. Superb private room with kitchen available.
Experience the true Balinese life at our lovely homestay of the Wayan Manada family. You will have your own luxurious room, with private hot-shower bathroom. The room was finished in 2013, and made with local Balinese materials. You will have access to the courtyard, where you can relax and have a conversation with people from the family.
We can learn you about the local lifestyle. This includes cooking, Hindu religion and its ceremonies, traditional market and much more. Just tell us what interests you and we can show you around!
There is a fully equipped kitchen available. So you can pick up local produce at the market, and practise your Balinese cooking skills here! If you don't know how to cook Balinese, we can teach you!

Wayan was every friendly and helpful. I felt welcomed here and safe staying here. It is better to have white light, to me it is quite dark at night.
Wayan is a very great host. He is ready to help you with anything you need. If you are looking for cooking class, he can teach you too! He even introduced us to his next of a kin, that turns out is a Yoga Guru which gave the highlight of our trip to Ubud. We also had very interesting conversation during breakfast that gives us a really proud perspective to be able to know Wayan in Bali.
The house itself is clean, homey and surprisingly no mosquitoes. You can still find ants in the bathroom, however given the bathroom is open air, i think is bearable. My favorite part of the house is actually the bathroom where it has open air and the shower room interior is just industrial chic :) and the most interesting thing is Wayan built the guesthouse with his own bare hands
Thank you Wayan & Family to accept us at your home during our short stay. We definitely consider to come back if we are going to Ubud again. And we will wait to comeback until the Yoga Studio is finished :)
Wayan's place is beautiful and simple. I hired him as a guide to show me the best of Ubud and Bali in 3 days, and he did not disappoint. I also spent time with him and another guest cooking a traditional Balinese meal. He is a very interesting host and has a lot of culture to share with you if you are interested! I had a great time here and even had the opportunity to participate in a traditional temple celebration. Just as an FYI, it is typical to find ants, spiders, and creatures in your room in Bali, so don't stay with a home stay if you're looking for a critter-less room.
The one thing I will add is that you must be careful about keeping money in your room, whether it is in your bag, purse, or hidden. I had left some money in my purse while going for a morning hike with Wayan, and when I returned there was about $120USD (in Rupuah and US bills) missing from my wallet. I cannot say for certain that it was the landlord's family, but I had counted my total amount the night before and it was all there. Interacting with Wayan personally, I find that he is very nice and generous, but I am suspicious because Sheralyn's review below confirms a similar situation. Unlike her, I brought the situation up and was not given back my money.
I would still recommend staying here for an authentic experience, but would be extra careful and keep your money with you at all times, even if you lock your doors.
Thanks!!!! This was a wonderful experienced stay at Wayan Manada Guesthouse for a week! Wayan family treat me like a family and show me the tradition Balinese culture ...the room it very beautiful and cozy, I call it " honey moon room " indeed, when I return to Bali will stay longer at Wayan Manada guesthouse again !!
Manada Guest House was a great over night stay and great prices !
I was a little disappointed that there was still building going on around me in the morning whilst I slept, also it wasn't easy to find when I tried to go for a walk and return back.
Wayan was a great host and I can't wait to stay when the rest of his guest houses are finished.
There is so much more to Bali than the beaches and the water activities. Ubud is the cultural center of Bali, and thanks to Wayan, I got to see more than a few touristy sights. Wayan took me to the morning market, where we bought local produces for some home-cooked breakfast. After, he crafted an itinerary suited for my interest, and took me to local lunch places. My stay at Wayan's home was great and allowed me to experience how a local Balinese lives.
