There is so much more to Bali than the beaches and the water activities. Ubud is the cultural center of Bali, and thanks to Wayan, I got to see more than a few touristy sights. Wayan took me to the morning market, where we bought local produces for some home-cooked breakfast. After, he crafted an itinerary suited for my interest, and took me to local lunch places. My stay at Wayan's home was great and allowed me to experience how a local Balinese lives.
Wayan and his family were wonderful! He made us breakfast each morning we were there and took us to a place to get Babi gulung that's better than Ibu okay! He also showed us his cooking skills for dinner, and was ready to take us anywhere totally on our time schedule. He is expanding his property now, so there is some construction noise but not bad. Also if you don't like a plethora of animals, this might not be for you, but none of them bothered us at all. The cats are really cute as well!
Wayan's accommodation was exactly what we needed; simple and accommodating. We enjoyed a yoga class with Kara, who l believe will be leading the onsite studio when it opens in a few months.
Wayan is one of the best things about Ubud. Completely unexpected hospitality and took us anywhere we wanted to go to make sure we saw everything Ubud had to offer. Literally showed us full days of both Balinese culture and touristy attractions. Always HAPPY and very helpful, especially when it comes to driving and picking up. To experience the most of Ubud (whether you have an itinerary or not) I would highly recommend Wayan's place and you will learn and see so much during your stay! Thanks again Wayan and we'll be back next year (or probably in a few months :P)
Good experience to live with Wanyan. Thanks brother for taking me to the market and we had a wonderful time there!
Wayan picked us up from our lunch spot. The rooms are as nice as the picture. Everything about the room was superb - love the spaciousness of the room, the semi-outdoor shower and the firm bed! Breakfast was delicious - we had omelettes one morning and pancakes (more like stuffed crepes) the second day. Both were excellent and more than restaurant standard! He brought us to the market in the morning and cooked the duck Balinese-style when we returned from the market. We had it for dinner and loved it! It was a real pity we didn't get to taste his Italian food, which is his specialty. He also recommended a good driver to bring us around on our last day .
Wayan's guesthouse was a great place to stay and we really enjoyed a tour with Wayan. The room is really clean and comfortable and breakfast and other meals were really good.
Just a caution for other travellers to Ubud to be careful if leaving cash in your bags or room safe. We had money taken at two different Airbnb homestays. Fortunately it was returned on both occasions after we very tactfully raised it with the hosts.
We understand the difficulties in country locations and would still recommend Wayan as a very honest and trustworthy host.
