Our spacious glamping tent rests under a giant Texas Oak on a 5-acre estate called Deerhaven Retreat. This British-made canvas is an all-season oasis for nature lovers: Queen bed, 2 convertible futon chairs (sleeps 4), wi-fi, AC/Heat, Keurig,, coffee, tea, breakfast snacks. Greet deer on the path to your private full bathroom with soaking tub & hand shower—reserved for you the sparkling bathhouse! BBQ, firepit, lawn games, wildlife, and a Hill Country vibe that's only 8 min. to shops + dining!

The space
Our guests love this roomy 16 ft. British-made Bell Tent. It's perfect for nature lovers who enjoy the outdoors and wildlife. The tent is positioned under a giant Texas oak tree, and guests enjoy viewing deer, armadillo, fox, raccoon, possum and more.

FOR YOUR HEALTH

With plenty of fresh air and open space, our Deerhaven glamping cabins, tent, and tipi are the perfect place to keep "social distancing" and to virtually eliminate contact with another person's germs. At least while you are here on site!

Every day guest bathrooms are treated with ozone* between 11 am and 3 pm. You may notice a strong fresh scent during this timeframe. Additionally your private restroom is disinfected with bleach and ozone before your check-in, after a previous stay. This includes toilets, sinks, showers and floors.

Your cabin and/or tent accommodation has had an ozone treatment just before you check in. Ozone is a naturally occurring gas created from oxygen atoms. The anti-pathogenic effects of ozone have been substantiated for decades. It acts upon viruses, bacteria, fungi, and more. We time these treatments so that guests do not have to breathe strong ozone gas.

THE SPACE:

The solid queen side bed has a wonderful mattress, and the two convertible stuffed chairs each fold out to make single/twin beds. That makes beds for up to four people. All the bedding and towels you'll need is provided. Everything for coffee/tea is right in the tent -- plus you'll have a firepit, BBQ and ice chest to stock your own ice and food/drinks.

This tent was crafted in England from heavy 12 oz. canvas, and has a padded gym floor and colorful rug. There's air conditioning, fan, heaters, wi-fi, ice chest, Weber charcoal BBQ, food storage, Keurig, and a teapot with a variety of teas and micro-ground coffee.

The tent has its own deluxe super-clean private bathroom —reserved just for you a short walk away — and it's is stocked with plenty of fresh towels, basic amenities, and supplies. An awesome soaker tub + hand shower make for a soothing oasis. All sheets and towels are included, plus guests can do extra laundry on site.

SANITIZED FOR YOUR HEALTH!
Your bathroom will be treated with ozone every day at some time between 11 and 2 pm. You may notice a strong fresh scent during this timeframe. As always, between guest stays all toilets, sinks, and showers will be disinfected with bleach. White towels are laundered in hot water with bleach. We strive for a sparkling, sanitary facility!

The comfy "glamping" tent is part of a natural setting called Deerhaven Retreat that also hosts Tibetan Buddhist meditation, teachings...and a Saturday yoga classes in a giant 26 ft Tipi. Airbnb guests are welcome to attend! (Schedule subject to change.) Tent rental includes access to the grounds which includes a the tea garden with tables and BBQ and bistro lights, the giant fire pit, stargazing field, front lawn, and the woods.

This deluxe tent is ideal for guests who enjoy nature and are comfortable around wild animals such as deer, armadillos, raccoons, bugs, possum, fox and the occasional skunk. It is a natural, restful atmosphere with plenty of trees and starlight.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the 16 ft tent, their private bathroom, and the outdoor chairs and fire pit in the area near the unit. In addition, the shared BBQ-picnic area, and the recreational games near the tipi are available to guests. Plenty of parking is on site.

This wooded neighborhood, Oak Moss North, is a natural preserve that rests atop the aquifer recharge zone. This prevents development in the immediate area. However, the place is just 4 miles north of Loop 1604 and regular neighborhoods are nearby. Thus, you feel like you are out in the country but in fact are only 8 minutes to shopping with everything you need...Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Lowes -- and much more.

Special Note:
The densely-wooded military base, Camp Bullis, is 3 miles away. On training days (which are random with no set schedule) the sound of distant rifle and machine-gun training can sometimes be heard. If the distant sound of gunfire is an issue, we recommend you look for another place.

Christopher and I married in 1977, and move to San Antonio in 1980. As artists and musicians, we headed West from Boston in search of opportunity "Out West". Christopher is a professional designer, illustrator and musician. I am a nonprofit management consultant. In addition to family, our cats, and travel our three big areas of interest are: 1. Music — we founded the San Antonio Vocal Arts Ensemble (SAVAE) in 1989 and have six commercial recordings. We've done 80+ concert tours across the country and have been featured in national newspapers and on NPR. 2. Art — Christopher is a highly-regarded designer and illustrator. You will see his work all over the house. There are 50+ children's books he's illustrated on the shelves in addition to the framed art. 3. Tibetan Buddhism — We have a close relationship with two Tibetan monks, who are our teachers and Dharma friends. Over the past 12 years these great Lamas have stayed with us at the house for months at a time, teaching Buddhism right in the living room! We do love to travel, and are DYI travelers, having avoided organized tours. We've been to India (to visit the monks mentioned above). We've also travelled to Israel, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, Canada, and Spain. We're lucky to have family in Massachusetts (where Christopher was born) and on Cape Cod — where we played music after Berklee College of Music. We have siblings and many relatives in Hawaii who've been there for 35+ years—so we know the Islands pretty well. Last, but not least, we have lots of family in California (North and South) where Covita was born. You are very welcome to enjoy the home we cherished for 35 years. In 2017 we relocated to a different part of town in order to care for Christopher's 88-year old Mother. As for the rental house, we are very hand-on, doing the yard work and laundry, cleaning (etc.) ourselves because we have loved this house for many years and want to remain connected.
