SOUTHWOLD BARN is a luxurious conversion of five cart barns in Compton Abdale. The village is one of those 'that time forgot' where there are many beautiful country houses, mixed with quirky Cotswold cottages all on little lanes which lead towards the village spring in the shape of a Cotswold stone crocodile!

We're right in the middle of the Cotswolds so around 10 miles to Cheltenham, Bourton on the Water, Cirencester, 12 miles to Stow on the Wold. Oxford is only 30 miles away and Bath is an hour's drive.

We are conveniently located near to three outstanding wedding barns ( The Barn at Upcote, Stone Barn, Cripps Barn) and host many wedding party groups

There lots to see and do in the area with fabulous food, local breweries and Gin and Whisky distilleries within a very short distance.

The space
Southwold Barn sleeps 8 people. On the ground floor, there is a large vaulted drawing room with original stonework, oak beams, a large logburner and views to open countryside. The fully fitted kitchen opens on to an open plan dining area. There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor, these bedrooms share a bathroom with walk in shower.

On the first floor there is a twin bedded room with en-suite bathroom, and a fourth double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. There is also an additional small sitting area with a TV.

Outside is ample parking next to the Barn for 3/4 cars.

We're close to all the well known Cotswold towns and villages and can tell you about the not so known ones! Cheltenham, Cirencester and Bourton on the Water are about 10 miles, Stow on the Wold is 12 miles, Oxford is around 30 miles and Bath around 40 miles.

The nearest shops are in Northleach around 3 miles away where there is a small general store with cash point, bakery, butcher, post office and pharmacy. There is also a really good pub with excellent foot, wine bar (lots of pop up foodie evenings) and a couple of cafés. There are plenty of great places to eat and drink in the area if you don't fancy cooking yourself.

All the main supermarkets are available in Cheltenham/Cirencester, about 15 minutes drive away. All supermarkets deliver out to us.

This is a fantastic area for things to do: all manner of water sports at the lakes near South Cerney, cycle paths in the Forest of Dean, history/archaeology at Chedworth Roman Villa, Sherborne Lodge and Sudeley Castle, also Warwick and Oxford and Bath are not far away. Equestrian events are very popular here too. There are plenty of fantastic walking/hiking routes to follow and this is a particularly popular part of the country for challenging, hilly bike rides.

Compton Abdale, United Kingdom

We are at the edge of of a beautiful and typical Cotswold village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Behind a high hedge, tucked away from the main house, is our barn. If you are looking for a traditional Cotswold Cart Barn but with a modern feel, the gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside and privacy then this will be for you.

The main view from Southwold Barn is of uninterrupted views of magnificent rolling hills, complete with sheep, pheasants and birds of prey, our free range chickens peck around and visiting ducks come the say hello. The garden has a stream running down through it with ponds top and bottom (toddlers should be supervised), there is a gravelled eating area with furniture and gas BBQ for those balmy summer evenings.

The nearest shops are in Northleach 3 miles away where there is a small general store with cash point, bakery, butcher, post office and pharmacy. There are also a couple of pubs, and excellent wine bar (with regular pop up foodie events) and several cafés. There are plenty of great places to eat and drink in the area if you don't fancy cooking yourself, or we can arrange for a local chef to come in and cook for you, or to prepare a meal for you to just heat up in the oven.

All the main supermarkets are available in Cheltenham, about 15 minutes drive away. They all deliver.
