No pets. No smoking in the house. We are in a residential area and guests are expected to behave accordingly.
The listing description was accurate but Brigid was even better than that. She was very friendly from the time we arrived and made us tea and gave us details about the neighbourhood which was very upmarket.
Brigid is the consummate host! A warm welcome, fabulous house, and great hospitality. The house is tastefully furnished, with welcome creativity throughout, and spotlessly clean. No Marmite (not expected of course), no problem! Brigid went out of her way to get some the next day, I will return.
Brigid is a fantastic host. She is very kindly and the house is clean and well localized in Dublin. Five minutes to LUAS and 10 to the center... The good choise.
The house is in Ranelagh, which is three stops on the light-rail outside of the city center (St. Stephen's Green). From the rail stop, it's about a 5 minute walk to her home, which is a lovely Victorian home with clean rooms and warm comfortable beds. Ranelagh village is full of nice restaurants, organic cafe's, and even pubs, and it was a nice place to explore.
The host is Brigid. From the moment I showed up Brigid made me feel very welcome. My first morning there she organized a Food Tour of the city for me, and was always going out of her way to make me feel comfortable and at ease. Towards the end of my trip in Dublin, I went to Galway for one night, and as I was getting ready to come back to Dublin, it actually felt like I was coming "home". She is a helpful, hospitable, friendly, and an all-around wonderful person, and is truly the best of what AirBnb has to offer. I would gladly stay with her again.
Overall it was a great experience. The location of her house, the house itself, and Brigid were all amazing. It was far and away the best AirBnB experience I've ever had.
I appreciate Jacques kind comments. However, I would like to point out
that my house is a period house and as such we have gone to a lot of trouble
to have the bathroom in keeping with the rest of the Victorian house. The
bath is a vintage one of the kind people pay a lot of money
to acquire and not at all "desuet". In addition there is a thoroughly-modern
separate pumped shower for guests' use. As for the house being "excentree",
there is a very frequent tram service within 5 minutes walk of the house
which will have one in the city centre in less than 10 minutes unless one
prefers the 20-minute walk to the city. Brigid
We were in Dublin for the weekend and stayed with Brigid for a couple of nights. Her house is beautiful, quiet and situated in a very nice area of Dublin. She was a great host - giving us local tips and nice breakfast. Couldn't recommend her place highly enough if you're in Dublin for a few days. 15 mins into town and half an hour to the airport. Certainly worth a visit.
