We are a small and sincere home of international travelers who believe hostels are much more than a cheap place to stay. For us, it's about meeting fascinating people from all over the world, making lasting friendships, and creating community. We are very social here and will want to know something about yourself when you contact us by way of your Airbnb profile.
As fellow international travelers, this place is more than a hostel to us; it is our home. We strive to learn about the interesting people who choose to visit the great city of San Francisco. You can expect us to ask you the usual heap of questions: "Where did you come from? What do you do? How long you staying? Where you off to next?". We hope you don't mind indulging us with a bit of social chatter before we show you to your bunk. However, if you just arrived from some far off location and can hardly keep an eye open- we will work as quickly as possible to tuck you into your bed.
Our house is specifically designed to so that interaction with other guests is impossible to avoid; the shared dormitories encourage community and being social with your new friends. If you crave privacy or tend to be anti-social, you may find our "openness" a bit odd or not to your liking. We would love to suit everyone's tastes if we could, but we do understand if this concept is not the right choice for you.
We are also in a great location, nestled comfortably between the Financial District and Chinatown, a stone's throw from the iconic Transamerican Tower, and stumbling-home distance from North Beach's vibrant bars. We are on a major bus line and roughly 5 blocks from the Muni/Bart station. Although we are a small hostel, we do a good job providing the amenities and services of the larger hostels, except with a personal touch. You would never confuse our wee hostel with a "flashpackers" and we're not even close to resembling an institutional (aka impersonal) hostel.
Yes, our kitchen will only accommodate a few people at one time, but rest assured that it's modern, fully stocked and some amazingly yummy food comes out of there. We routinely invite our guests to join us for community dinners. Our bathrooms are clean and modern, even if the plumbing on the inside is over 100 years old! Our beds are the sturdiest bunks in the world- custom made for backpackers with powder coated steel. These beds will not squeak or shake and there are large backpack/suitcase sized storage lockers underneath (99cm wide by 45cm tall by 60cm deep). You can use your own lock or buy one from us. And, of course, we have free wi-fi and high speed internet available.
San Francisco is chock full of things to do, of course. And, since we do a bit of traveling ourselves, we know budget is key. We definitely will not push a bunch of expensive tours and tickets on you. We are happy to point you in the direction you seek- armed with a map.
We are in the business of getting to know people. If you think this unique hostel is right up your alley, we invite you to come spend some time with us. Happy travels, and welcome.

Check in is available from 8am-midnight each day.
As a travelers house, all guests are required to have a government issued photo ID and proof of traveling status (i.e. plane tickets or passport). You will be asked for a $20 refundable security deposit at check-in.
Most of our rules are common sense and will be explained at check-in. In general, we simply ask that guests follow the golden rule of living in community: "Be Excellent to One Another".

Quick replay - I really appreciate that!
Very friendly guys within a nice atmosphere. You feel integrated and accepted from beginning.
The wifi works quite fast - comparing to some other places
It was my first time staying in a hostel and initially had very different expectations of the place. After the stay, all my preconceived negative notions of hostel was removed with this hostel. The people were warm and friendly, the hosts they were helpful and even allowed me to place my luggage without charge at the place till my flight on the day. In addition, the other backpackers in the hostel came from all walks of life with PHD holders down to high school kids going on to college and in SF for vacation. The location is excellent which is just right in between the fringe of Financial District and Chinatown which means you get access to tons of great food just in minutes after walking down the steps of the hostel. There's also a common area for fun and games and it is most enjoyable
There's a few warnings which may put some people off but in my case I could do with it - there are several other backpackers that might be noisy at night so if you are looking for a place to rest well that might be off-putting. Also, some of the backpackers come from Europe (with rather questionable bathing routines) and might not have the best hygiene practices around and you might experience foul stenches from them if you have to live in those rooms. The facilities in the room are fine with plugs in various spots and your own locker but you do have to purchase (5USD) or bring your own lock. The last but not least which might be a nightmare for some it is the three or four long flight of stairs you have to get up to the hostel or your room, but I guess it is only 2 instances you have to deal with it intensively - arriving and departing apart from that the place was definitely much more I asked for as I did manage to interact and learn from people from Beirut to Belgium and other spots of the world I will never have imagined existed or will ever have met. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED: LOCATION AND PEOPLE!
You can't find better place for this price. Clean, quiet, and activities for the guests
The hostel is greatly located, right between chinatown and the financial district and very close to north beach. The staff is very friendly and competent, they have plenty helpful insights on the city so don't hesitate to ask their advice on what you may want to do. I met incredible people at Pacific Trade wings and I will keep amazing memories of my stay in SF thanks to this experience.
This hostel was pretty good to stay. Many guys from all over the world and you can hang out with them, which was pretty cool.
Very nice and cozy hostel, with all the amenities and things that you may need. All the staff is very kind and make you feel at home. I completely recommend this place, it's nice and comfortable and you get to meet interesting people from all over the world and the States. I would definitely be staying here again.
A great hostel that is clean, comfortable and safe. The staff was friendly and responsible. Location is great, in China Town close to all attractions. The only issue I had was with the abundant street noise, but that is just by virtue of its location not really reflective of the quality of the hostel. They provide towels which is a plus. I highly recommend perfect for the solo traveler. I would definitely stay again!
