Welcome to the smallest of the San Francisco hostels! We may be little, but we’ve got huge personality. Our space is all about creating community with fascinating travelers from around the world. Looking for instant friendships and awesome vibes? You found us, high five! We believe hostels are far more than just a cheap place to stay, and we are seeking out guests who feel the same.
Our accommodation is all mixed gender dorm rooms with 6 or 8 beds per room, bunk bed style, with large lockers underneath each bed. We also have a fully stocked kitchen, clean bathrooms, and cozy common room to hang out. It’s a very open, communal set up, with new international friends all around you. Like summer camp, but even better...because you're an adult now ;-)
Freebies don’t stop there, check these out too:
Free fluffy towels
Free nightly sock wash
Free high speed wifi & guest computer
Free high fives
Free luggage storage day of check in/out
Free hairdryers & straighteners
Free printing of boarding passes to new adventures
Freedom to be your amazing self!
Hungry, thirsty and broke? Forget the two hour hostel breakfast you slept through, we offer FREE peanut butter, jam, bread, tea, & coffee... 24 hours/7 days a week. We know, it’s awesome. We love you and you’re welcome.
Our central location between Chinatown and the Financial District is fantastic, public transport is plentiful, and vibrant North Beach bars are stumbling distance away.
As fellow international travelers, this place is more than a hostel to us; it is our home. We are very social and personable here, and want to know about you when you contact us. So, what brings you to SF and to our hostel?
Our location can't be beat! We are located one block over from the famous San Francisco Chinatown, one block from the bustling Financial District, a few blocks south of "Little Italy" in North Beach, and just a 10 minute stroll from the water along the Embarcadero.
Public transportation is plentiful and nearby, though many things are walking distance. We are next to the #1 bus, 1 block from the California Cable Car line, and 5 blocks from the Montgomery BART station. You can catch many other buses near the BART station as well.
Cars are not recommended since we are right in downtown SF and parking garages are very expensive (about $30/24 hours). There is minimal street parking in front of the hostel: 7pm-7am during the week, and limited on the weekends. Alternatively, we know of some first come, first served free street parking across the city. You can then take a 25 minute bus ride back.
Other Things to Note
Our dorms hold between 6 and 8 people. "Four" refers to our maximum group size, not the dorm size.
As a traveler's hostel, we welcome those coming to/from San Francisco as temporary tourists. We unfortunately are unable to host residents of the Bay Area.
DATES NOT AVAILABLE?
Check one of our other listings! We have multiple listings on Airbnb for the same hostel simply so that we may accept more than one guest at a time. All of our "Friendly Hostel with Community" listings are for Pacific Tradewinds Hostel and are exactly the same (same hostel, same price, same rooms, etc).
All of our "International Hacker Hostel" listings are also the same (still the same hostel, plus 24/7 access to our coworking space, Nomad-A-What Travel Coworking, around the corner). If you're still having trouble, send us a message and we'll check for you.
Check in is available from 8am-midnight each day.
As a travelers house, all guests are required to have a government issued photo ID and proof of traveling status (i.e. plane tickets or passport). You will be asked for a $20 refundable security deposit at check-in.
Most of our rules are common sense and will be explained at check-in. In general, we simply ask that guests follow the golden rule of living in community: "Be Excellent to One Another".
