About This Listing
Ganesha House is an antique Indonesian wooden house, carefully and sympathetically created to give a sense of space and a tone of rustic luxury. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a 13m swimming pool. Away from, but quick access to bustling Ubud.
Hati Suci (Clean or Pure Heart) is the name of our property. There are four houses on the property, Ganesha House is the largest, all have access to the gardens and swimming pool. All have their own unique sense of privacy.
Hati Suci is located 13 km, 20 mins north of busy Ubud. Amid luscious rice fields, on the edge of virgin jungle, it reflects conscious sustainability and permaculture principles. Flexible accommodation suiting family, friends, retreats.
NEW INTRO OFFER
IMPORTANT: This introductory offer reflects that the current temporary access is via a rice field path. Although beautiful and used daily by the local community, we consider that (at present) it would be unsuitable for elderly or infirm visitors.
The antique wooden structure, has personality and rustic luxury running throughout. The owners personal taste and belongings add to the warmth and homeliness of Ganesha House.
Ganesha House has two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, one with a large open air bath. It also has a well equipped kitchen, a sumptuous wooden dining table capable of seating sixteen, and a spacious living area that can be used as a meditation or yoga space.
Each bedroom has it’s own safe, big enough to hold a 17 inch laptop.
A 13m swimming pool is central to the property, surrounded by the maturing garden. A large comfortable Bale (covered seating area) is next to the pool, with other comfortable seating areas in abundance. Nearby, a covered traditional grass roofed building holds two hammocks and a swing chair for guests use.
The 13m pool is 1.4m deep and will shortly be converted into a salt water pool. The pool may be shared by guests who rent the smaller guest houses, however, Ganesha House and it’s private garden are for use solely by it’s tenants.
Hati Suci has been built with a conscious effort towards sustainability and permaculture. We have a passive solar water heating system, non chemical waste water treatment, rain catchment and gardens that are chemical free.
The Garden consists of vegetable gardens, herb areas, newly planted fruit trees and tropical planting. Any produce is available for your personal use. It is an ever evolving work in progress. There is also a fish pond, integral to the waste water system. Our gardeners take pride in this project based on permaculture principles. Flowers, butterflies and birds are plentiful.
Wi-Fi Internet is included (please bring your own laptop or tablet).
We do not have AC, and choose to take advantage of the natural breezes.
PETS: John and Mike are the two cats at Hati Suci. They are effective and necessary in keeping some wildlife out of the houses. Affectionate yet independent they are part of the rental. Our staff will take care of their needs.
We have easy access by motorbike or car (taxi services can be arranged) to Ubud, the cultural centre of Bali. The 20 minute drive is breathtaking, winding through the jungle, rice fields, river valleys and several traditional villages.
Ubud abounds with restaurants, shops, spas, yoga, cooking, batik and art classes along with many healing modalities. It has several art galleries and a museum. Evenings offer Balinese dance performances, Fire ceremonies and Gamelan.
We are a one and a half hour drive from the airport, one hour from the nearest beaches and half an hour from Kintamani, which is on the edge of the volcano, Mount Batur.
Hati Suci and the surrounding rice fields themselves are in a unique and tranquil setting. Higher than Ubud towards the foothills of the volcano, it is tropical but not as hot as the beach areas. There are fewer mosquitoes but wildlife is abundant.
Hati Suci has a manager, two housekeepers and a gardener.
We can also provide an onsite chef.
Laundry can be done for an additional fee. Also some local restaurants deliver to the house, menus are provided.
Currently, access to the property is via a 4 minute walk along the rice field path, which is maintained regularly but is made of earth. It is beautiful, authentic, used daily by local rice farmers but it is uneven, unlit and we think unsuitable for elderly or infirm visitors.
A permanent brick path is planned but as yet not completed.
The swimming pool is a shared area between guests as is the pool Bale (covered seating area), and garden shelter.
Interaction with Guests
There is daily cleaning, pool maintenance and gardening included. Our manager will be at hand and we provide an Indonesian mobile with useful numbers and contacts.
Daily offerings are made at the houses and temples on the land by our Balinese help. Should you want complete privacy at any time, then we will fully respect that, just please let us know, however, offerings have to be accommodated at some time most days.
The village we are located in is traditional, and in it's own way, unique. There are views from the land towards Mount Agung and one of the major water temples of Tirta Empul is 4 kilometres away in Tampaksiring. There are local warungs (eating places) in the village and a large traditional market selling fruit, vegetables and livestock in nearby Pujung. We have a growing number of more western style restaurants a short ride away and small local shops selling daily essentials are close. We are about 20 minutes by scooter or car from Ubud where there are hundreds of restaurants, spas, yoga schools, great shopping and a large vibrant daily market.
Scooters are our preferred method of getting around. They are cheap, and beat the traffic in the larger towns. We have several motorbikes for rent at competitive prices of 50,000 Rupiah (approx. $5USD) per day or 500,000 (approx. $50USD) per month. We also have a number of bicycles for use by the more energetic guests. Cycling through the winding local lanes can be a beautiful way to see the island and our surroundings.
We also have at hand several local taxi drivers some of whom speak excellent English. Tours can be arranged through our manager if you wish.
We advise guests to bring with them International Driving Permits as the local Police often perform spot checks.
Other Things to Note
1. The rental includes our manager, there are two housekeepers and a gardener.
2. If possible bring a photocopy of your passport , it is required by law that all visitors be registered, and this will eliminate the need for your actual passport to be taken to the police station.
3. Mobile phones are available for your use.
4. There is unlimited internet access included with the house. Please be patient, Bali is not a first world country and occasionally internet lapses for short periods.
5. This is a safe area, however we are not responsible for any valuables left in the house. There is a strong secure safe in each bedroom, please keep your travel documents, money, laptops and any other valuables in there.
6. We can provide a laundry service,
An information sheet with itemised prices is in the houses.
7. We are in the middle of the working rice fields and, occasionally, usually for brief amounts of time, there can be issues with the electricity or internet. Please be patient, it is normally back on fairly quickly.
8. Our water supply is stored rain water with emergency top up through piped spring water. Our manager and gardener will monitor supplies.
9. Toilet and bathroom waste is managed through an organic waste water system using worms. Please never use bleach or strong chemicals, although the system copes with normal shampoos and soaps. Please use the bins provided for toilet paper and sanitary towels. Thank you.
10. Also, the area is teeming with birds and wildlife, occasionally these creatures might "trespass" ... they have no idea of what man-made boundaries mean. The staff clean thoroughly daily, so be assured we move them on and there are no actual "residents".
11. We have excellent reasonably priced massage therapists, manicurists etc. who can be scheduled at the property.
Massage beds are available at the property.
12 . We've already said it but John and Mike are the two resident cats that live here, with whoever is hosting. They are friendly and efficient at keeping unwanted small animals out of the house and our staff will feed them. We are sorry but their residency is non negotiable :-) Thank you.
RELAX AND ENJOY :-)
My fiancé, her brother and sister-in-law and I just completed our six day, five night stay at Hati Suci. This was my first AirBnB experience and first trip to Bali. We could not have been more pleased with our experience. Our late night monsoon airport ride through the windy foothills to the secluded retreat, started our trip off with just the perfect amount of adventure and intrigue. Soaked and disoriented, I admit I was a bit worried what I had signed us up for, but the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with such warmth and graciousness from our hosts that we immediately began melt into the organic environment they had worked so hard to cultivate.
All of our needs were met. A local cell phone was provided - our hosts were always quick to respond with local recommendations, coordinating drivers and last minute massages. Scooters were provided for transportation to Ubud and the local villages. The beds were clean and comfortable. The kitchen well stocked and convenient. The open air bathrooms were clean, private with plenty off hot water. The open spacious floor plan had you surrounded by the beauty of the rice fields and gardens and every turn. The Internet worked fine when needed. The pictures and descriptions from the AirBnB were very accurate and everything met our expectations perfectly.
The hosts make it very clear in the description that there will be some interaction with the natural environment- frogs, geckos, etc. If you are looking for a more glossy, sheltered 5 star resort type experience, this is probably not for you. If you value authenticity and connection with local culture and natural curiosities, Hati Suci will not disappoint.
As a side note, I had planned to propose to my girlfriend while in Bali. With no experience to work from, I had hoped to scout out a romantic location when I arrived. There were so many beautiful places in Bali that would have worked, but ultimately I was swept away by the simplicity and warmth of Hati Suci. A sunrise walk the the rice terraces with the volcano on the horizon provided the perfect backdrop for our special moment. This place will always hold significance for us and we cannot wait to visit again.
Il posto è delizioso, pulito e di grande gusto. I proprietari sono disponibilissimi...non potevamo scegliere meglio. In 15min di motorino siete ad UBUD
Beautiful villa in a fantastic setting; it was the perfect place to relax and experience the true Bali. The villa and its grounds are surrounded by rice paddies which provide a great backdrop to the pool and open lounge and resting areas. The house is tastefully decorated & well equipped, and being located 20 minutes away from Ubud makes it the perfect place to escape the crowds and experience the sights (and sounds!) of the surrounding jungle. The scooters available for hire make it easy to get to and from the villa.
We stayed here for 3 days and the owners, Tim and Giles, couldn't have been more welcoming & helpful – providing us with breakfast on the first morning since we arrived so late the previous night, taking us to the local market (great experience!) and just generally making sure everything was ok. Overall a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back!
Ilu's Villa was just amazing!
Close to Ubud (13 kms) this place is just how you need for a quiet retreat. Surrounded by rice fields, the villa is tastefully decorated in a Javanese style. Very spacious, and open to the outside, the view is great over the rice fields of the living room. The pool is very nice and clean and beds are very confortable.
You are lulled, every day, by the sweet sound of frogs. It's really pleasant. and strangely no mosquitos here!
John and Agatha, the cats couple, was my adorable companion during my stay. So sweet for a city girl to reconnect with the nature. Total interaction.
By scotter, you just need 20 min for reach the city center of Ubud. The landscape on the way is very beautiful, surrounded by trees and rice fields it's an invitation to reverie.
This place is perfect for your creativity, retreat, yoga, and the must is to can book a massage appointement with Mr Z, the therapetic masseur. Without exaggeration the best one!
Summary, wait can I say about my stay?
In First, the communication with Tim and Giles was efficient and fast. Everything was organized to pick me up at the airport at night, and welcome me in the best conditions.
My surprise was to recognize Gusti, their driver, when I arrived at the airport. The coicidence was that he was mine during my previous holiday in Bali. In professional moving, my organization was timed. I just needed to close my eyes, gusti took care of all during these few days. For a private party, he organized in one day a delicious Balinese dinner and invited the children of his village to play gamelan just for my friends and me. Thanks again Tim, Giles and Gusti for this fantastic time!
For finishing my review, I would like to talk about Tim and Giles who locked after me during my stay... I was met a very good persons. Adorable, peaceful and preventing, I falling in love with them :) Their desire to create a charming place is a total success.
My only regret is not being able to stay longer.
I booked a stay of 4 nights at Hati Suci at the start of my trip to Bali, after enquiring about availability I got a very prompt response, also our host was able to arrange transport from Denpasar airport. This was very helpful as the house is situated outside of Ubud in a small village. The property is beautiful and secluded, a lovely getaway in nature, though was close enough for us to pop down to Ubud on a scooter for dinners and excursions, such as the monkey forest. The house itself is wonderfully presented and this part is completed, however some parts of the property are still being finished off. Such as the walk from the road through paddy fields, though this is currently a footpath they said there are plans for it to be paved in the near future. The message that I received prior to booking did state this, and it is also mentioned in the listing. The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked for ourselves buying supplies in Ubud. There are gardens where the hosts are growing their own food, which we were told we could help ourselves to. Although these were still growing and were not quite ready for us to eat. The pool is superb and is well needed for the lovely warm days that Bali provided us, and the seated areas around the pool also provided welcome shade. The house is very much situated near a jungle and as such we had a couple of creepy crawlies make their way in, for example a frog (luckily none of us are very squeamish), and we had a hornet trying to build a nest, though this was mentioned to the cleaner and was very promptly removed by her. Hosts lovely and lovely staff.
Overall, we had a lovely stay, very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. This was my 3rd trip to Bali, and this is easily one of the nicest places I have stayed in! Would highly recommend.
