Two-bedroom apartment, located two steps down from a lovely plaza with a 17th-century convent, cypresses and pines, two cafés and a Mexican restaurant where you can have a margarita or some tacos outside on a warm night.
Sunny and quiet, the apartment is on the 4th and top floor (with elevator) . Ideal for couples, families with children or friends.
The apartment has a living room, a bedroom with a double bed, a small bedroom with a single bed, a bathroom with shower, a small, well-equipped kitchen, and a small storage room with closets. The living room has a sofa bed that seats two, which turns into a double bed.
Elevator, bed and bath linens, kitchen essentials, washing machine, microwaves, cafetiere, oven, closets, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, TV, internet wifi, air conditioning and baby crib.
Situated in a lovely neighborhood in the heart of Madrid, the apartment is a five minute's walk from Malasaña and Chueca, a stone's throw from Gran Vía and Plaza de España, and near historic points of interest, such as the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol.
Very good public transport connections. Near metro stations Noviciado (line 2), Plaza de España (lines 3 and 10), San Bernardo (line 4), Tribunal (line 1) and Bilbao (line 1).
A basic, comfortable and compact apartment in a very quiet building (with lift up to 4th floor) on a very quiet street in a lovely neighbourhood - western Malasana/Conde Duque/university. Lots of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops nearby; and all the attractions of the centre of Madrid within walking distance, or within 5 minutes of the nearest Metro station (Noviciado) if you don't want to walk. The rooms of the flat are small with a living room, 2 bedrooms, dressing room, kitchen and bathroom and with a lot of wasted space in an internal hallway. It will sleep 4-5 people. The bed in the double bedroom is small (120cm/ 4 feet), so not really enough space for two; there is a comfortable single bed in another room and there is a large sofa bed for two in the living room. The Wi-Fi was excellent. Overall the apartment, is very basic and the fittings and fixtures are old and tired and in need of deeper cleaning and some refurbishment. However if you're not too fussy, the apartment is good value for money being well-situated and well-equipped for a short or longer stay. The host, Rafael, is a gentle and lovely man, very friendly and helpful at all times. It's been a pleasure to meet him.
Rafael was a great host. He helped us one time very quickly gettin back into the room, because we forgot the keys! That was amazing... Thanks again.
I would recommend the flat only for young people which are backpackers, students or couples. Also, for 3 people the flat is sufficient. Otherwise mates have to sleep on the couch.
The dishes, furniture and rooms are old but still working, unfortunately some of them haven't been cleaned...
I would not stay longer than 5-10 days in the flat, it's really just a short term opportunity/ or for vacations useful.
I lived in this apartment for 4 months while I was studying in Madrid. This apartment was in the perfect location!! Very close to Gran Via, one of the main streets, but far enough away that you aren't constantly surrounded by tourists and noise. It is also in the great neighborhood of Malasana, which has tons of trendy bars, restaurants, and shops. The apartment is across the street from a really cute cafe and in walking distance to everything you could need.
Rafael was a great host. He gave us some great recommendations at the beginning and responded to our questions quickly. We had some problems with heat and hot water, but Rafael brought us space heaters and worked with the mechanics to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
The only negatives about our time in this apartment were that it was very small and old. The rooms were tiny and we had some problems with the heat and hot water because the apartment was older. However, I still really enjoyed my time in this apartment and I would recommend it, especially to young people or students.
Rafael's place was nice and cosy. Perfectly located and easy to get to everywhere we wanted to be and in the middle of great cafés. The kitchen was fully equipped and nice and big compared to European kitchens. The apartment was very hot and sunny though but the air conditioning helped a lot. There is an elevator which was handy too. Didn't see much of Rafael but he is super friendly and helpful and I'm sure he would have helped if we needed anything.
Rafael was great! He made sure that we had all the information we needed before he left us in the apartment. He provided a map and recommendations for places to eat and get coffee in the neighborhood. He made our stay very enjoyable.
The location of the apartment was great. Every place that I needed or wanted to go was within a 30-minute walk of the apartment.
When the lightbulb in the smaller bedroom stopped working, Rafael replaced it the same afternoon!
The flat is greatly located. Its just minutes away from Plaza de España and Gran Via.
The flat is located in a neighbourhood with a great night life, so you have great restaurants and pubs a few steps away from the flat. It has a lot of local supermarkets near by, too.
The flat is small but has all the mod comms you will need for your stance. I spent 3 weeks with my husband and my baby there and I will definitively come back!
And the last thing is that Rafael is an amazing host. He waited for us even when the plane was delayed and he even left us some food for the 1st night as we arrived there really late. We had a minor problem with the vitro in the kitchen that stopped working and he came with an electrician to fix it just straight away.
It was an awesome experience and I do definitively recommend Rafael's flat!

I'm a friendly, sociable person who is easy to deal with. I love meeting people from different countries, and helping visitors in whatever way I can to have a great time in Madrid. I've travelled around Europe, America and Asia, and speak Spanish, English (not perfect), Italian and some French.
I shared my apartment for many years with Spanish and foreign roommates, short and long term. I now rent the whole apartment, but I don't mind sharing some times.
I love my city and I'm an expert on Madrid, its neighborhoods, buildings, history ..... and of course great places to shop, eat and go out and have fun.
