If you want to go back in time to see how Barcelona may have looked during medieval times and before, come and stay at our apartment in Barcelona's most popular neighbourhood, El Born. Aside from the trendy shops, restaurants and modern transportation, very little has changed over the years. From the small winding streets to the large squares where people go for lunch or dinner, El Born is undoubtedly the best place to spend your holidays in Barcelona.
Just a stone’s throw from the stunning 14th century Santa Maria del Mar church, our apartment is perfectly located. You have the main thoroughfare in the neighbourhood, Passeig del Born, (an old jousting ground) right around the corner, so you are literally in the heart of everything the moment you step out of the door. Within five minutes you can walk to the beach, the port, the Ramblas, and the beautiful Ciutadella Park. You also have several buses, two metro stations and the international train station Franca within a 3 minute walk.
Our apartment is on the fourth floor of one of the oldest buildings in the area (no elevator so great for keeping fit and working off all that tapas!). It is full of gothic charm with low beamed ceilings and a view to one of the most historical arched streets in the neighbourhood. The street is also pedestrianised so you don't have to put up with noisy traffic all of the time, and only have a little noise on weekends from the adjoining Passeig - a small price to pay for such a great location!
With two bedrooms (one open-plan double and one single), the apartment can host up to three people and is equipped with everything you need to explore the city, including WIFI and cooking facilities. It has just been renovated so is all freshly painted and restored with a combination of vintage, up-cycled and brand new furniture. Prices start from €60 for two people - for the entire apartment! In this location you are unlikely to find anything as good... more to spend in the local boutiques and experiencing all that this beautiful city has to offer. :)
As your hosts, Chris (airbnb user 493394) and I (Sarah) are here to look after you and can provide you with all the information you need on where to go and what to do during your stay. We provide all the latest city magazines so you know what's happening while you are here and to make you feel at home, we even throw in a few essentials such as freshly baked bread, milk, tea, coffee... and Spanish wine!
Please note - we only make up the single bedroom on request, so please let me know in advance if you require it - otherwise it makes a perfect space for dressing, storing luggage, etc.
Feel free to drop me a line with any questions. :)
- We would prefer only singles, couples or families of up to three please.
- Respect the neighbours - Strictly no parties and no noise in the stairwell when leaving or entering the apartment, especially with luggage.
- PLEASE be aware that the apartment is on the fourth floor with a winding staircase and no lift. Although we can sometimes help with carrying luggage, we advise that you do not bring large and heavy suitcases.
- Towels provided are for use only in the apartment. If you plan on going to the beach, please bring your own beach towels.
- We are flexible with check-in and check-out times. However, where we have same-day check-ins and check-outs, we ask that guests departing can leave by 11am and guests arriving, come after 1pm. This allows us to clean the apartment thoroughly in between.
- If you are going to arrive earlier or later than the pre-arranged check-in time, please contact me. :)
We had a great time staying at Sarah's flat! It's in a really fun and nice area of the city, and the flat was historical and very charming. Sarah greeted us with some vino tinto after our travels, and gave us recommendations for local places to eat and shop. We relied on her list a lot. It really made our trip to have somewhere so lovely to stay. And our leg muscles got a good workout on the stairs!
we loved our Barcelona experience.
The location was great, lots to do and see just around the corner.
the little flat was sweet, boosted with local charm and the feeling of the old city of Barcelona.
we enjoyed every moment...
Sarah was a lovely host. she was very helpful, gave us recommendation where to go, what to eat etc...
its that kind of place for those who like feeling the history in the walls... we clearly r.

Sarah was communicative, punctual, and helpful throughout our entire stay... in short, an amazing host. The home is also in the ideal El Born area, which happens to be our favorite place to stay in Barcelona (after multiple trips). The home was designed very well, maintaining an authentic Catalonian style. Most importantly, it was clean and served our purposes very well for a 5 night stay. I would not hesitate to bug Sarah again in the future for our next Barcelona trip.
This was a great experience all around. The apartment is wonderful, super-central, quaint, comfortable, and with a cool vibe. Sarah is a great host. She is responsive to all communication, friendly, and sets you up with a great email full of tips for all sorts of activities. With such a great base, we were able to enjoy Barcelona to its fullest.
The apartment is set in one of the small pedestrian streets, and is so typical for El Born that people stop to take photos of it. The apartment itself is just as the pictures say- add only the charming ambiance of being in the middle of El Born. But if you need a big comfortable luxurious bed and a big bathroom, this apartment is not for you. Otherwise, it has everything you need.
Sarah is very welcoming and truly wants you to have an amazing stay in Barcelona. Her tips for restaurants, bars and things to do is definitely worth a try :-) I would add Tapeo (restaurant) and Aire de Barcelona (spa/hamam)!
Sarah was very accommodating and always responsive via text. Listing description was very accurate. Before arrival Sarah let me know there was a minor issue with the Bathroom. It was indeed very minor and virtually unnoticeable. In any event she’s redoing the whole bathroom anyways, so the next person doesn’t even have to worry about it! Can’t say enough great things about the location/neighborhood. Everything is close and easy to navigate.
