The Space

If you want to go back in time to see how Barcelona may have looked during medieval times and before, come and stay at our apartment in Barcelona's most popular neighbourhood, El Born. Aside from the trendy shops, restaurants and modern transportation, very little has changed over the years. From the small winding streets to the large squares where people go for lunch or dinner, El Born is undoubtedly the best place to spend your holidays in Barcelona.

Just a stone’s throw from the stunning 14th century Santa Maria del Mar church, our apartment is perfectly located. You have the main thoroughfare in the neighbourhood, Passeig del Born, (an old jousting ground) right around the corner, so you are literally in the heart of everything the moment you step out of the door. Within five minutes you can walk to the beach, the port, the Ramblas, and the beautiful Ciutadella Park. You also have several buses, two metro stations and the international train station Franca within a 3 minute walk.

Our apartment is on the fourth floor of one of the oldest buildings in the area (no elevator so great for keeping fit and working off all that tapas!). It is full of gothic charm with low beamed ceilings and a view to one of the most historical arched streets in the neighbourhood. The street is also pedestrianised so you don't have to put up with noisy traffic all of the time, and only have a little noise on weekends from the adjoining Passeig - a small price to pay for such a great location!

With two bedrooms (one open-plan double and one single), the apartment can host up to three people and is equipped with everything you need to explore the city, including WIFI and cooking facilities. It has just been renovated so is all freshly painted and restored with a combination of vintage, up-cycled and brand new furniture. Prices start from €60 for two people - for the entire apartment! In this location you are unlikely to find anything as good... more to spend in the local boutiques and experiencing all that this beautiful city has to offer. :)

As your hosts, Chris (airbnb user 493394) and I (Sarah) are here to look after you and can provide you with all the information you need on where to go and what to do during your stay. We provide all the latest city magazines so you know what's happening while you are here and to make you feel at home, we even throw in a few essentials such as freshly baked bread, milk, tea, coffee... and Spanish wine!

Please note - we only make up the single bedroom on request, so please let me know in advance if you require it - otherwise it makes a perfect space for dressing, storing luggage, etc.

Feel free to drop me a line with any questions. :)

  • We cannot recommend Sarah’s apartment highly enough. Our whole trip was absolutely perfect with Sarah’s apartment being the icing on the cake! Despite having to meet us at midnight, Sarah was all smiles & extremely welcoming. We absolutely adored the rustic charm & quirkiness of the apartment and the neighbourhood it is located in had an amazing feel to it with so much to offer. We have already told several friends & family that they must visit Barcelona & more importantly must stay at Sarah’s property, we know we certainly will the next time we visit!

  • Sarah welcomed us into her nice apartment with a bottle of wine and highlights of the area. GREAT neighborhood near everything. Whether you want to walk or use the metro, you're nearby.
Restaurants in the area are superb. Great place to stay and quite roomy.

Excellent welcome from Sarah, we arrived at 11pm at the airport and Sarah was waiting for us as planned in the apartment around midnight. The apartment is in line with what is advertised, simple but warm. We walked a lot across the center of Barcelona and we can say that the location of the apartment in the Born is ideal. Many addresses of restaurants and tapas bars within 500m, and unlike other
tourist areas, these bars are "genuine".
Opportunity to go walk around at Barceloneta and also rent bikes just around the corner.
Thank you again to Sarah for his welcome and tips.

  • Great place, couldn't be more central in Barça. Great reception by Sarah including a bottle of wine ;-)
I spent 3 days with my son and from Sarah's appartment moving around the city is so easy! I definitely reccomend this place, unless you have problems walking stairs (you have to walk around 16 3-step stairs to enter the appartment. Very good doable and totally worth it ;-) )

  • Staying in Sarah's apartment was like being let in on a Barcelona secret. Nestled in the El Born neighborhood, Sarah made our stay in Barcelona unbelievably memorable. Complete with the cutest decoration possible and a bottle of Rioja, we sat on her terrace and planned our first excursion into the artsy and craft-filled Born. Armed with stellar recommendations from Sarah, we ate, drank and wandered to our hearts content. I couldn't believe how at home I felt in the quiet, serene pedestrianized streets of the neighborhood, or how many wonderful public spaces were just steps away. If you have the opportunity, definitely select this site. You will not regret it!

  • Cute upcycled flat in El Born. 10m to anywhere in Barcelona! Excellent location to the beach, Picasso museum, La Boqueria, wonderful tapas bars, and shopping. Sarah was so welcoming and accommodating. She greeted us upon arrival, gave us a bottle of wine, and later provided us with a generous list of places to eat and things to see. We definitely wished for more time in Barcelona, and hope to go back & stay with Sarah!

  • We simply had a great visit in Sarah's centrally located and charming little apartment in Born.
Sarah (who was extremely kind and helpful) was there to welcome us with a bottle of wine (though we couldn't find an opener and had to buy one the next day) and lots of tips for eating, seeing and doing stuff in Barcelona.
The only thing we'd point out is that the flat is perhaps slightly more medieval than the images would suggest - and a bit rundown, to be honest. But it was clean and had everything we needed (apart from the bottle opener, that is) and it all adds to the charm :-)
Oh, and beware of the hot water which is positively boiling - as an angry, red welt on my hip can attest after having brushed against the shower pipes... (But rather this than no hot water, certainly!)

  • Me and my boyfriend had a wonderful time here - Sarah was an extremely welcoming host and gave us some brilliant (website hidden) apartment is very thoughtfully furnished and homely. The location literally doesn't get any better, we will now always stay in the El Born district, it strikes the perfect balance between beach time and city buzz. There may be a few flights of sairs to climb, but come on people, embrace a little mild exercise!

    Thank you Sarah!
