If you want to go back in time to see how Barcelona may have looked during medieval times and before, come and stay at our apartment in Barcelona's most popular neighbourhood, El Born. Aside from the trendy shops, restaurants and modern transportation, very little has changed over the years. From the small winding streets to the large squares where people go for lunch or dinner, El Born is undoubtedly the best place to spend your holidays in Barcelona.
Just a stone’s throw from the stunning 14th century Santa Maria del Mar church, our apartment is perfectly located. You have the main thoroughfare in the neighbourhood, Passeig del Born, (an old jousting ground) right around the corner, so you are literally in the heart of everything the moment you step out of the door. Within five minutes you can walk to the beach, the port, the Ramblas, and the beautiful Ciutadella Park. You also have several buses, two metro stations and the international train station Franca within a 3 minute walk.
Our apartment is on the fourth floor of one of the oldest buildings in the area (no elevator so great for keeping fit and working off all that tapas!). It is full of gothic charm with low beamed ceilings and a view to one of the most historical arched streets in the neighbourhood. The street is also pedestrianised so you don't have to put up with noisy traffic all of the time, and only have a little noise on weekends from the adjoining Passeig - a small price to pay for such a great location!
With two bedrooms (one open-plan double and one single), the apartment can host up to three people and is equipped with everything you need to explore the city, including WIFI and cooking facilities. It has just been renovated so is all freshly painted and restored with a combination of vintage, up-cycled and brand new furniture. Prices start from €60 for two people - for the entire apartment! In this location you are unlikely to find anything as good... more to spend in the local boutiques and experiencing all that this beautiful city has to offer. :)
As your hosts, Chris (airbnb user 493394) and I (Sarah) are here to look after you and can provide you with all the information you need on where to go and what to do during your stay. We provide all the latest city magazines so you know what's happening while you are here and to make you feel at home, we even throw in a few essentials such as freshly baked bread, milk, tea, coffee... and Spanish wine!
Please note - we only make up the single bedroom on request, so please let me know in advance if you require it - otherwise it makes a perfect space for dressing, storing luggage, etc.
Feel free to drop me a line with any questions. :)
- We would prefer only singles, couples or families of up to three please.
- Respect the neighbours - Strictly no parties and no noise in the stairwell when leaving or entering the apartment, especially with luggage.
- PLEASE be aware that the apartment is on the fourth floor with a winding staircase and no lift. Although we can sometimes help with carrying luggage, we advise that you do not bring large and heavy suitcases.
- Towels provided are for use only in the apartment. If you plan on going to the beach, please bring your own beach towels.
- We are flexible with check-in and check-out times. However, where we have same-day check-ins and check-outs, we ask that guests departing can leave by 11am and guests arriving, come after 1pm. This allows us to clean the apartment thoroughly in between.
- If you are going to arrive earlier or later than the pre-arranged check-in time, please contact me. :)
We had an absolutely lovely stay in this flat. The location could not be better. We walked everywhere. The Santa Caterina Market close by is excellent for provisions although the many great tapas places nearby will make you want to eat out and the cafes and bakeries will supply you with breakfast. The flat not only had everything we needed but also felt very warm and welcoming. We didn't want to leave. The only caution I would offer is that if you are noise-sensitive you might want to bring ear plugs for sleeping. I would say that is true pretty much for any Barcelona flat so I am not singling this one out - it was true when I stayed elsewhere in the city and I have also heard this from other travellers. It can be a noisy place and the way buildings are constructed noise travels. It's good to know this so you can be prepared. Communications with Sarah before arrival and departure were timely and easy. It was lovely to meet her and we felt very well looked after. Her recommendations were great too. If (when?) I return to Barcelona I would love to stay in Sarah's flat again.
Very well located apartment, in the old city of Barcelona. Very warm welcome of Sarah who took time to introduce the flat and send an email with all needed information for our trip. One point: the flat is based in a an ancient building in the center which it means classical and typical in a way but noisy in an other way. Except this point everything was perfect!
We had a great time! What lovely place. Although in the centre of Born it is quiet because of the location. Plus a big thank you to Sarah for organizing a baby travel bed!
Excellent service. Met at accommodation and were given a list of places to visit.
Apartment was very central and close to transport links and excellent bars and restaurants.
We will be back.
Really loved staying in Sarah's lovely little apartment, it had everything we needed and Sarah was super helpful and welcoming even sending us a list of recommendations of places to eat and things to do while we were in Barcelona! The apartment was the perfect size for me and my mum and in a really great location. We loved el born - so many lovely independent shops and cafes and the apartment is walking distance to much of Barcelona and also close to train and metro stations if you want to explore further afield.
Thank you so much for a lovely stay and for all of your help.
We spend a wonderfull time in BCN and enjoyed Sarah's cosy Appartement! It's the place to be in the Old Center of this beautifull city. Sarah's recommandarions for Restaurants & Bars are on top! Sarah was very helpfull all the time and we've to say THANK YOU again.
