I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in La Fortuna. This hostel is very homey, quiet, and everyone had such great vibes. Heidi from the start was incredibly helpful and gave us so many ideas of what to do in the area. She also made sure we were comfortable with our room and she went above and beyond to make our stay the best experience possible. Thank you Heidi!
The sleeping Indian was a great place to stay there were several other couples and other world travelers when we stayed. We usually had a change to catch with someone in between tours and excursions. The place was clean and Heidy, who ran the place, was very knowledgable about the available activities. She even had a better rate on tours than most of the tour companies. She booked the tours and they picked us up just outside the Sleeping Indian. Great place to stay. I'd do it again.
The guesthouse is in the center of La Fortuna and really spacious. Heidy, the receptionist, helped us with a lot of information. It was nice to meet other guests. We even could join another ones car-trip to the south of Nicoya.
Located downtown next to the church and the post office, I had to deal with Heidi nice person for its formations and kindness, the square shared with adjoining kitchen is spacious and well furnished pleasant to relax, all rooms have one or more windows except the room number 3 where I was staying that instead had none at all, then avoid it.
I had a very nice time . Thanks so much for all your help Heidi :)
We enjoyed our stay at the Sleeping Indian. Our room was a good size and we enjoyed the private bathroom. The room does tend to get hot because the window does not open to let fresh air in, although there is a fan. The bathrooms have suicide showers (as most places in Costa Rica) and our hot water stopped working, but they allowed us to use an open room's shower so it was handled well. The kitchen use and two nice balconies were great. The best part was the location. It was right in the center of town by the central park and you can see the volcano in the distance. Heidi was extremely helpful in recommending places to eat and go to.
The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse was lovely! We were just there one night, but it's got a lovely setup. Rooms are spacious and cozy, and the common area is fantastic. Centrally located and super reasonably priced! Great spot in lovely La Fortuna.

Peter Ferguson the owner of the The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse and welcomes international travelers from all over the world.. Peter is a world traveler who has explored many varied countries and environments and has chosen La Fortuna as his favorite place on the planet and is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of this special area of a special country. The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse is centrally located in downtown La Fortuna named after a little chain of mountains next to Volcano Arenal in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The wind and rain of millions of years of evolution has formed a chain of mountains that looks just like a sleeping indian. The more you look- the more you are amazed, since it seems that these giant mountains actually are a big fat Indian lying down. We think that no matter what kind of traveler you are, everybody likes to feel at home. Making you feel at home is Peter's goal. He loves people and he loves hosting.
