They were great and very accommodating. Made several suggestions of things to do in the area and advised us on the somewhat inconsistent weather
Located right in the middle of town. The layout of the place was really cool. It has a balcony in front and the back. The receptionist Heidy was extremely helpful. She help book our shuttles for our entire trip and recommended the best tours in town. Highly recommended place!
We had a wonderful time at The Sleeping Indian. La Fortuna is a beautiful and welcoming town, and the hostel is perfectly suited to that. The common room is large and cozy, with inviting couches and bohemian accents.
The room itself is wide and well lit with a private bathroom- with a shower set at the perfect temperature for this hot and humid climate. Nothing fancy, but simple and accommodating. Very well located, and surprisingly quiet. It does get really hot though. Air flow is limited and the fan does not always compensate.
Heidy was perfect. She was courteous, friendly and extremely helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. She has an intimate knowledge of the town and was very approachable. Heidy took care of booking our trips and transportation for us, which we greatly appreciate. Thank you!
We didn't meet Peter, but Heidi was extremely helpful and sweet. The place was great, good value!
I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in La Fortuna. This hostel is very homey, quiet, and everyone had such great vibes. Heidi from the start was incredibly helpful and gave us so many ideas of what to do in the area. She also made sure we were comfortable with our room and she went above and beyond to make our stay the best experience possible. Thank you Heidi!
The sleeping Indian was a great place to stay there were several other couples and other world travelers when we stayed. We usually had a change to catch with someone in between tours and excursions. The place was clean and Heidy, who ran the place, was very knowledgable about the available activities. She even had a better rate on tours than most of the tour companies. She booked the tours and they picked us up just outside the Sleeping Indian. Great place to stay. I'd do it again.
The guesthouse is in the center of La Fortuna and really spacious. Heidy, the receptionist, helped us with a lot of information. It was nice to meet other guests. We even could join another ones car-trip to the south of Nicoya.

About the Host, Peter
Peter Ferguson the owner of the The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse and welcomes international travelers from all over the world.. Peter is a world traveler who has explored many varied countries and environments and has chosen La Fortuna as his favorite place on the planet and is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of this special area of a special country. The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse is centrally located in downtown La Fortuna named after a little chain of mountains next to Volcano Arenal in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The wind and rain of millions of years of evolution has formed a chain of mountains that looks just like a sleeping indian. The more you look- the more you are amazed, since it seems that these giant mountains actually are a big Indian lying down. We think that no matter what kind of traveler you are, everybody likes to feel at home. Making you feel at home is Peter's goal. He loves people and he loves hosting.
