Minutes away from the Downtown Mall, UVA, Darden, and Barracks Road - this house is the perfect place to stay when you visit C'ville. Available for short or long-term stays, the master suite has the amenities of a hotel and the comfort of a home.
This spacious, private room within a home is the ideal way to experience life in Charlottesville. Whether you're here for a vacation, visiting the University, or considering moving to our small city, a stay at this house on Rugby Road will give you a sense of what it might be like to really live here. There is a mini-fridge and coffeemaker in the room and coffee and tea supplies are available. As a thank you for choosing my home as your C'ville accommodation, I am happy to provide a breakfast of homemade scones and fruit *one* of the mornings during your stay. Please inform me prior to your arrival if this sounds appealing so I can prepare and accommodate special requests.
Everything necessary is contained within the room: including a mini-fridge, coffeemaker and beverage supplies, located in one of the double-doored closets. There are common areas of the home that guests are welcome to visit: comfortable living room and side patio over-looking the goat pen. Use of the kitchen and dining room is reserved for long-term tenants. The laundry room may be available upon request.
Interaction with Guests
I live in a garden-level apartment within the home, so I am often close by and am happy to offer any assistance that may be needed. I also understand that most guests prefer their space and I fully respect that. There are two other upstairs bedrooms in the house occupied by other tenants/guests who share the common areas. My two goats, Harvey and Edward, are tenants of the yard and love interaction, if you should be inclined to visit them during your stay.
The Meadowbrook Heights neighborhood is convenient to anywhere you need or want to be but feels tucked away from the hub-bub of Downtown and the Corner. It also has some of the prettiest homes and yards in Charlottesville.
A walk to UVA grounds takes about 20 minutes - to walk to the Downtown Mall about 25 minutes. There's a bus stop close by on Preston Avenue.
Other Things to Note
Check-in and check-out times are fairly flexible. I like to personally greet my guests if possible and am typically available to do so between 1 pm and 3pm on the day you arrive. Special arrangements can be made if you can't arrive during that particular time frame. Check-out time is noon.* Because I accept one-night/last-minute reservations I need to allow enough time to turn the room for the next guests. Later check-out times are available upon request if there is not another incoming reservation.
* You're welcome to leave your car/luggage here past check-out time if needed.
While you are renting a private room, the common areas of the house are shared with two long-term tenants. Please be considerate of the presence of others when you are occupying any part of the home outside of the master suite.
Great room - just as advertised. Glad to stay here, and we recommend it if you're in Charlottesville.
We booked Anne's master bedroom for a short stopover on our road trip. We were very happy with the property and the location. But the room was fantastic. The space is great with a small table and chairs for snacks, and a really comfortable chaise to relax on. The bed is super comfortable too. The house is a bit older and has that rustic warmth that makes you feel happy to stay in. I would gladly stay there again in the future. Thanks Anne!
This is a really nice, spacious room with private bath in a good location close to downtown. Anne provides nice touches like toothpaste if you need it. I would strongly recommend this room to anyone!
My daughter and her partner stayed at Anne's house for a week over Christmas and it was perfect! Lovely room, great bathroom, and a wonderful living room with a deep window seat and plants. This is a quiet neighborhood of older homes within easy walking distance of UVA and shopping. I would (and will) recommend this place to anyone!
I had a great first airbnb experience at the Arrington house! The room was lovely and comfortable, the location was great, and the scones were delicious.
As always staying at Anne's place in the master suite was awesome refuge. Maybe I just click with the location , house and pleasantly laid out master suite but I find it very homey and hospitable every time
I loved staying at Anne's big house in lovely, leafy area very close to University of Virginia in Charlottesville. The master suite, in her big home, is perfectly appointed and aesthetically pleasing; with great views of wooded, rolling hill neighborhood about. Probably one of the best beds on which I've slept in all my travels: pillows and mattress perfect for me! Bathroom adjoining is roomy and one could luxuriate there. The common areas of the home, are inviting and open to all. Anne was most communicative and helpful, and insured a great visit! I'd definitely recommend staying here, if you're staying in Charlottesville.
In addition to managing the rental and maintenance of this beautiful home, I bartend/serve at two great local restaurants, and I am a freelance videographer/editor. I also raise goats! I have two Nigerian Dwarf wethers - Harvey and Edward. They are great entertainers and helpful, if somewhat lazy, ecologically friendly stewards of the yard. They are also the subjects of a children's book I am writing.
