About This Listing
Minutes away from the Downtown Mall, UVA, Darden, and Barracks Road - this house is the perfect place to stay when you visit C'ville. Available for short or long-term stays, the master suite has the amenities of a hotel with the comforts of a home.
Please pull-in via the entrance the right and park parallel to the house in any of the three spots at the left of the driveway.
This spacious, private room within a home is the ideal way to experience life in Charlottesville. Whether you're here for a vacation, visiting the University, or considering moving to our small city, a stay at this house on Rugby Road will give you a sense of what it might be like to live here.
Furnished with a queen-sized/pillow-top bed, antique dresser, chaise lounge, and a small eating area, this peaceful space has everything you need for a restful stay.
There is a mini-fridge and coffeemaker in the room and coffee and tea supplies are stocked for your convenience.
Everything you'll need during your stay is contained within the room: including a mini-fridge, coffeemaker, and beverage supplies, located in one of the double-doored closets. There are common areas of the home that guests are welcome to visit: comfortable living room and side patio over-looking the goat pen. Use of the kitchen and dining room is reserved for long-term tenants. The laundry room may be available upon request.
Interaction with Guests
My schedule is varied and I am often on the go, but you may see me about the house or more likely out in the yard, wrangling goats! I respond quickly to text messages and am happy to offer any assistance that may be needed. In my experience, most guests prefer their space - my goal is to never hover but be available when necessary. Don't hesitate to contact me during your stay!
In addition to the Master Suite, there are two more upstairs bedrooms in the house occupied by tenants/guests who share the common areas.
My two goats, Harvey and Edward, are tenants of the yard and love interaction, if you should be inclined to visit them during your stay.
The Meadowbrook Heights neighborhood is convenient to anywhere you need or want to be but feels tucked away from the hub-bub of Downtown and the Corner. It also has some of the prettiest homes and yards in Charlottesville.
A walk to UVA grounds takes about 20 minutes - to walk to the Downtown Mall about 25 minutes. There's a bus stop close by on Preston Avenue.
Other Things to Note
Check-in and check-out times are fairly flexible. I like to personally greet my guests if possible and am typically available to do so between 1 pm and 3pm on the day you arrive. Special arrangements can be made if you can't arrive during that particular time frame. Check-out time is noon.* Because I accept one-night/last-minute reservations I need to allow enough time to turn the room for the next guests. Later check-out times are available upon request if there is not another incoming reservation.
* You're welcome to leave your car/luggage here past check-out time if needed.
While you are renting a private room, the common areas of the house are shared with other guests/long-term tenants, and myself. Please be considerate of the presence of others when you are occupying any part of the home outside of the master suite.
Beautiful home, wonderful host and precious goats! I definitely would recommend Anne's home for all of our out-of-town guests.
It was perfect. Just an overnight, but I've stayed with Anne before so i knew i could count on an immaculate room, immaculate private bath and a sweet chocolate mint. Again, perfect.
My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Anne's, and it was utterly charming and lovely. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting her, but she checked in to ensure we had everything we needed, had delicious scones waiting for us on arrival, and generally make sure we had a great stay.
Both the room and the location were perfect for my needs. The room is spacious and comfortable. The location is convenient -- about a 20 minute walk to UVA; 10 minutes to a major shopping area. I recommend it highly and would certainly stay here again on my next trip to Charlottesville.
About the Host, Anne
In addition to managing the rental and maintenance of this beautiful home, I bartend/serve at two great local restaurants, and I am a freelance videographer/editor. I also raise goats! I have two Nigerian Dwarf wethers - Harvey and Edward. They are great entertainers and helpful, if somewhat lazy, ecologically friendly stewards of the yard. They are also the subjects of a children's book I am writing.
