The River House provides you with maximum privacy while only a short drive from all the necessities and tourist attractions. If you feel like just relaxing at home, you will love the private 35m2 saltwater pool and pool house guaranteed.
The River House is nestled in a very private 1.5 acres tropical garden, only 5 minutes from downtown Uvita, the national park and beach of Ballena as well as Playa Hermosa and a fast array of restaurants and tourist attractions. The house with its adjoining guest cabin fits 6 people (3 queen size beds) and features a 35m2 salt-water pool with a big outside recreational area to play ping-pong, relax or just enjoy nature. A guard lives nearby on premises to ensure your 24 hour security.
The house sits right next to the Higueron River, which allows for perfect wildlife watching right from the leisure of the deck, bedroom or living room. At dry season, you can also hike up the river or down to the ocean.
Pick your breakfast from the own exotic fruit featuring banana, mango, lemon, orange, avocado and guava trees or start your day with a peaceful Yoga session by the pool. Whether you like watching toucans, parrots or monkeys straight from the comfort of the hammock or prefer to have an action filled day surfing, ATV-ing or whale watching, you will find the River House to be your perfect vacation rental.

Such an amazing value for the money, and a great experience overall. Located several minutes drive from downtown Uvita, the house and attendant Gumercindo were welcoming and perfect for a week-long getaway. Uvita has a small local vibe to it which I didn't see in many other places on the Pacific coast, really giving you the feeling of living as a local.
Like others have said, the driveway is steep and your car needs some clearance to access the house and bring your own toiletries! Washer, dryer, and wi-fi were a nice plus. Other than that, enjoy the pool and house far from the tourist-y areas of the area.
We had a wonderful family vacation at the River House. The caretakers, Gumer and Cecilia, were kind, attentive, and friendly hosts. They really made our stay even more enjoyable. The house has a rustic, cabin feel, and is tastefully done. It was close to town, yet it felt like we were deep in the jungle. I would've loved to stay during the seasons when the river is flowing, as the house sits above it. We spent most of our time in the beautiful pool which was the best part of the house. The only downside to our experience is that there minimal toilet paper and dish soap made available to us.
The best place to stay at in Costa Rica. The place is awesome, very private, safe, and comfortable. Its a great location (4x4 is a must), close to many beaches, conservation parks, rivers, waterfalls, supermarkets, banks and gas station. The pool is great at night. The main house has a very cool wrap-around deck. The kitchen supplies need an upgrade and there is no microwave. Overall this place is super awesome and you leave wishing you could stay longer.
The booking process and the whole experience was super easy, Simone is a great host and the couple that take care of the farm do an excelent job.
Nice place and nice surroundings. It is very challenging to find with the instructions. We did not manage!! It was impossible. Need to update the description. Gumercindo and wife are the best - so friendly and helpful!!!
The house has a very good value for money. The pool i great and you really feel inside the jungle !!
There could be more furnitures as an inside table to eat or more Kitchen tools. Arrive by day as it is not easy to find and 4wd is required.
Perfect home - possibly the best I've ever stayed in! Very nice caretaker that opens it up and gets out of your way. Look for the PILATES sign on the main road as a landmark, as the sign for Jardinne La Morette is a little hard to see. Turn on your 4 wheel drive and shut your windows - it gets muddy but in a good, fun way (like a truck commercial) The turn is the left road after the beautiful monkey/toucan gate, near a garbage holder that resembles a rabbit hutch/chicken coop. We never saw the turtle rock, so thought we would mention it.
Nice to have a free local phone - we had to call caretaker to turn on the hot water, so write down his number.
The pool is gorgeous and even better than expected! Many doors to the house open to the forest, which is incredible. We slept in the guest house one night because it smelled so good - brand new with gorgeous wood. House would be fine for 1-4 people and guest house is good for 1-2 other people. Toucans and hummingbirds everywhere! Lime tree and orange tree were in bloom - good thing there was a blender! Unfortunately, there was no toilet paper in any of the three bathrooms (my only complaint about the house, but might have been a mistake - but hey! Three bathrooms! Cool!). Also, no coffee filters, shampoo, or conditioner, so make sure to bring some! Soap was available. The BM grocery store near the house is VERY expensive for some items (sunscreen $14-$30, toilet paper: $3 per roll, almond milk $6), so I would stock up before hitting this area - Uvita, Dominical, etc. are more touristy than many of the smaller towns near the airport.
Otherwise, neighborhood is wonderful - we saw MANY monkeys at the national park. Great view at the Whale & Dolphin lodge next door - worth the drive up the hill. Most of the local bars and restaurants have WiFi if you need it (but don't do it! You're on vacation!)
We were so moved by the beauty of this property that my husband and I plan to build a house like this in Costa Rica when we retire. Looking up at the endless stars by the pool house was very memorable. Wish I could have met the owner so I could talk to her about how she made this place so darned great! Thanks for being so great and responsive!
