A 2-3 month stay at the Morningstar House is a great way to make new friends and get settled and connected if you are planning a move to Nashville. Since my practice here is more like sharing my home, and less like a motel rental, I especially appreciate people who bring an open, cooperative, friendly spirit to the process.
In a quiet wooded area near Percy Priest lake, we are still just 5 miles east of the Nashville Airport, (pickup available $10) , 15 minutes from downtown, and the Opryland Hotel area. I have an art room, activities for children, (my grandchildren live nearby) a Playroom where we've held house concerts, and many workshops, wireless internet, a wide selection of music. My space is ideal for artists, writers, or musicians, business people, travelers, people new to the city, or anyone wanting a getaway or just a fast, easy, comfortable place to sleep while on the road! There is a relaxed, friendly vibe in the house. There are supplies on hand for you to prepare food for yourself.
I offer creative process coaching in expressive and healing arts. As a community artist for over 25 years I have an extensive network of creative friends doing interesting projects in and around Nashville. I can offer expressive arts/creativity sessions upon request. : )
I've done lots of traveling around the world, and learned the beauty and value of hospitality... I enjoy people and seek to provide guests in my home with support, nourishment for body and soul, information about the city, as well as honor needs for quiet and privacy. Please read my reviews and references, they will help you connect with the "spirit" of the Morningstar House before you get here. : )
Two rooms available for women only- 2-4 months (May thru Aug) in a nice suburban 4 bedr house just 10 miles east of downtown. $600 pr mo, pr person for twin (shared room) and $850- queen/private room/bath- https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2710049
The 4-5 bedroom house is spacious and guests are welcome to share the open space--- outdoor deck in the back, well-stocked kitchen, sit down dining, and music and lounging space in living room, washer/ dryer, fenced in back yard and plenty of parking on the quiet cul-de-sac.
Interaction with Guests
I am open to interaction with guests and can be available for conversation, support for making the most out of your extended stay in Nashville, some transportation, and expressive arts sessions if that is a desire. I am also available to connect guests with other guests or creative Nashville folk. I can also offer space, peace and quiet to guests who want that... Sometimes "less is more" when it comes to contact... : ) I will be a little less available this summer as i'll be spending time with family in southern tennessee, but am always just a text or phone call away.
I'm very near the Percy Priest Lake, natural areas such as the Greenway, several restaurants, two grocery stores, as well as a short drive downtown (about 10 miles) to all the music and fun stuff Nashville has to offer.
GOOD NEWS! A bus route to downtown has opened up to downtown just one mile from my house, and with the train- the Music City Star (the only train in the county) 2 miles away, and the newly opened LYFT car service, you can choose to be car-free! Often, both myself and nearby friends are available to share rides
Other Things to Note
Some changes and now we are offering stays of more than one month... I have several friends and family members nearby who are also opening rooms in there homes to accommodate guests PLEASE INQUIRE EVEN IF IT APPEARS I'M booked up for your dates, I have a network of friends to refer you for short term rentals, and also some people who are seeking roommates.
I'm fairly flexible and open.. I see this service as more like "sharing my home" than "renting a room"... it's a subtle and friendly shift we are making... It's safe, comfortable, spacious, and quiet here...
we can discuss guidelines when you arrive...
just generally enjoy sharing clear communication about needs and expectations... : )

playroom! My favorite room in the house! Room for workshops, concerts, or just hanging out!
It was a real treat to end our two-week trip with a stay at Diana's home.
The place matched exactly the description posted on the site. The room we got was very spacious, had its own bathroom and was very clean. We were able to use other parts of the house as well - the living room, kitchen, etc. With all the toys and decorations it was a perfect place for our kid to play in.
We would certainly choose Diana's home again if we ever traveled back to Nashville.
This was our first time in America - my Mum's and mine as we are Polish. Diana made us feel welcome even before we arrived! She took care of us and we felt like home from the moment we walked in the door of her house. She told us about all the places we might want to see in Nashville and out of all the recommended places we made a few our new favorites. We met some beautiful on the inside people while staying there - Diana's friends as well as those who were her guests just like us. We got to have a few adventures too like a spontaneous road trip to Graceland, Memphis, TN for my Mum's birthday! Thus if you want some privacy that's exactly what you can count on, that's exactly how this place works. If you own a car there's plenty of an outdoor parking space, if not you can always ask the gorgeous hostess for a ride and for a tiny charge she will take you wherever you need to go - that's how awesome she is! :)
The Morning Star House never feels like a house, it feels like home - you just never wanna leave! So if you're sitting there thinking whether you should book a room here or not, let me tell you one thing: GO FOR IT! You won't regret it for a second! And you will want to come back! Guaranteed.
Thank you Diana for a lovely time and your truly motherly hospitality! :) xxxxxxx

Hi Sepp.. Thanks for coming by! Here's your review translated to English. "I never met Diana, unfortunately. But her friend Kate and her daughter Sara filled in for her well, they showed me everything I needed and wanted to know. Diana's house is very cozy and is in a quiet location. The bed was comfortable and I slept well in it. The bathroom was clean and everything was working well. The descriptions are very true to reality. I can definitely recommend this accommodation."
You couldn't ask for a more gracious hostess. Diana wasn't home when I got there because she had gone to the airport to pick up another guest who got stuck for a ride, but left the door open. That, in itself, is over and above. She arrived shortly and showed the other guest and me to our respective rooms and invited us to kitchen, TV, and family room use. This was my first AirBnB and I didn't know what to expect, but Diana made this a very pleasant stay. I slept great on clean sheets and had a nice shower with clean towels. Coffee in the morning and an extra sausage biscuit she happened on to. It's a nice quiet neighborhood not too far off the beaten track. I was pleasantly surprised by how open and friendly it all was.

About the Host, Diana
For 25 years I've been serving the world as a community organizer, artist, expressive arts facilitator, and traveler and now I find myself in a very large, beautiful house with plenty of space for welcoming the world here in my home. I have a passion for community building across lines of race, class, and culture and have found work on the boards and staff of many church and community non-profit organizations, locally, regionally and internationally.
I am the oldest grandchild in a large farm family in Southern Tennessee and learned the fine art of hospitality from my ancestors, especially warm-hearted grandmothers and great-grandmothers. There was a great synergy and sustainability in the collective, cooperative work of my large family, and in the few years I've lived in the "city" I've brought this ethic and value to my life in community here.
After 10 years of leadership in the forms of InterPlay, I am currently designing MorningStar Community Arts, linking arts and social transformation, writing, and performing. I've written poetry all along the journey and am currently publishing an extensive collection with a title something like: Radical Hospitality: Grief, Grace and Grits. I love to travel and has been to Morocco every summer for several years with extended family there. Hawaii and Australia are favorites, too. I have 3 small grandchildren who live nearby and my space is equipped for children of every age with art supplies, books, games, movies, etc.
I love hosting house concerts, circle gatherings, and potlucks in my home and am enjoying taking this longtime practice of hosting friends and family in my home to a new level with airbnb and other networks by hosting strangers that very often become friends.
I spent 20 years traveling the world with my cultural work and my favorite way to visit any city is by doing a creative homestay with hosts that were sometimes friends, and sometimes friends of friends. It's such a sweet way to come to know a city by having a safe, friendly, homey landing place. So that's what I want to offer now. The spirit of hospitality comes naturally and easy to me. My family used to say "I never met a stranger" I really enjoy people in all their variety and would be happy to provide you a good balance of quiet and private time, and also friendly, helpful support as you encounter Nashville."
I would also like to offer expressive arts facilitation and support to travelers interested in that, and possibly even collaborate with guests to create concerts, workshops and other events in the PlayRoom which holds about 55 people for a concert, and 30 for workshops.
