Family owned and operated for over 20 years, this Lincoln Park vacation rental is on a quiet side street in one of Chicago’s premiere neighborhoods thanks to its beautiful architecture, abundance of parks, and close proximity to the lakefront and downtown. From Blarney’s Brownstone, you will enjoy easy access to Chicago’s many activities including the Loop/downtown, Grant Park, Navy Pier, Wrigley Field, the lakefront, Millennium Park, State Street, Museum campus, the Art Institute, Michigan Avenue, and many of Chicago’s endless activities.

This top-floor 2 bedroom, 1 bath unit is tastefully furnished and comes with a fully equipped modern granite kitchen, small dining area and a living room in addition to the 2 bedrooms (one queen bed, one double) and bath. A fold-down futon couch is in the living room for additional guests. Full marble bath with skylight.

GETTING AROUND from this central location couldn't be easier. Located 1 block from the Fulllerton L stop (with Brown, Purple and Red Line service). Walk 1.5 mi North to Wrigley Field or take the Red Line 2 short stops to the famed 1060 West Addison. In addition to the L, the Halsted bus 3 blocks away will bring you to Greek Town and the Stadium for Blackhawks and Bulls games, and the Fullerton bus on the corner will whisk you to the lakefront, Lincoln Park Zoo, Peggy Notebarte Nature Museum and more. Wicker Park and Bucktown are easy to access by bus or a short cab ride. If you’ve brought a car, we will provide you with complimentary Zone Guest parking passes.

THE AMENITIES include hardwood floors throughout; exposed brick walls; granite kitchen; dishwasher; high-end cotton linens and towels; hair dryer; soap and shampoo; tea and coffee; secure high-speed wireless Internet; cable; TV; and central air conditioning. The building’s amenities include an equipped outdoor garage roof deck with gas grills, a small fenced-in back yard, and an abundant herb garden that can complement any meal.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD is packed with activities. Within a few short blocks, you’ll find shopping opportunities galore on Halsted, Lincoln, and Armitage; an abundance of bars and nightclubs; restaurants from the gourmet Charlie Trotters to the original PotBelly’s Sandwich Works and Lou Malnati’s pizza; the Vic concert hall; and famed Blues clubs the Kingston Mines and Blues Etc. Dominick’s grocery store is 1 block away. Charlie Trotter’s Take Out is 2 blocks away, and both the DePaul Athletic Center and Lake Shore Athletic Club are within 4 blocks and offer day passes.

FEES/PAYMENT DETAILS
A minimum of 3 nights midweek or 4 nights if the weekend is included, and 5 nights for holiday weekends or weekends of high demand such as Lolapalooza, the Cubs-Cardinals series, DePaul orientation and parents' weekend, PitchFork, and the Air & Water show. We will accept shorter rentals mid-week or on a last-minute basis--you can always email or call with your inquiry, especially if it is close to your desired date. Additional charge of $15 applied for additional guests. Cleaning fee of $90 assessed on all rentals. Chicago tax of 15.49% on all rentals.

Payment by PayPal or credit card accepted 14 days or more prior to rental with a 3% service fee or 4% for international cards or corporate cards. Payment by electronic check, ACH bank transfer, wire or cash also accepted without service fee. $200 Security Deposit required or $400 deposit if guests are under the age of 28 (children with their family excluded, of course).

OTHER
This is a dog friendly building and neighborhood (Wiggly Field Dog Park is 4 blocks away). Well-behaved pets are welcome on a case-by-case basis with a small fee. We are happy to provide a baby pak-n-play; lawn seats, coolers, grill equipment and other items to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Laundry facilities are also available (for guests staying a week or longer).

    This was my first booking through Airbnb. I didn't sent the message to talk and get a feel of the renter first. So Booking with this renter made me a lot more nervous. After she accepted my stay, the only message I got back was "great" as short as it was I was left blank what the next step I need to do. I booked 12 days before my vacation. I was hoping I would get more information, nothing I heard back after the first message. I waited till 1 week before my arrival, I emailed, texted, left message, I heard nothing back. I decided to call Airbnb, Airbnb helped me reach to her and she sent me email said normally she won't give information until 2 days of arrival. About the place, Great location, the bedrooms are tiny for 2 people per room, the bathroom shower curtain was so dirty, mold and the bathtub was clogged. I called, left a message, nothing had fixed. We bought a new shower curtain and drainer. We fixed the problems ourselves.She did brought me 2 more blankets as I requested, since we had 6 people total stay. We paid for extra people since I booked. I would expect to have those blankets before we arrive though. The wireless internet, have only signal in the kitchen area.
    Summary, Great Location, The House was ok, I would complain about cleanness, The communaction with the host was the worst. Not timely manner at all. I noticed after I had experienced to book another place in NYC. My communication with other hosts was far better.

  • Despite calls and e-mails ahead of arrival, I had no information on how to get the key or gain entrances to this unit. The owner was not available by telephone when we arrrived and no one was available to let us in. It was raining and we were standing on doorstep as it got darker and darker. AirBnB did answer my phone called and said they woould research the problem -- I got an e-mail from them at 2 a.m. the next morning with the combination for lockbox and access to key. By that time, we had gone to Doubletree Hotel (which was more centrally located and fine).

  • We (two adult couples) stayed at this apartment for 5 nights in Spring 2012. We felt that the price for the apartment was too high and that the pictures and description posted online were quite misleading. The apartment is in a nice safe location, walkable to red/brown Fullerton line and restaurants/stores, which is the best selling point of the place. The kitchen is nicely updated. The apartment overall was clean. The deck area looked fine, though we did not use it. The one exposed brick wall is nice. That's where the good stuff ends! The apartment is furnished in what I can only describe as "thrift-store/mom's hand-me-downs" style. I would definitely not call it "tastefully furnished." The futon was uncomfortable to sit on, much less sleep in. The "high-end cotton linens and towels" were mismatched towels that we had to ask for more of, as there were only two of each for four people, and older sheets/bedspreads. There were two rolls of toilet paper for 4 people for 5 nights. The two bedrooms (one queen, one full) were both very cramped. The bathroom was adequate, and the toiletries provided were half-used bottles of Suave and such under the sink. I would not call it a "full marble bath" and the skylight was stuffed with newspaper around the edges. We were in the third floor apartment, which is two flights up a dismal and awkward staircase. The cable TV said "channel not working, try again later" more than half the time. Shannon was pleasant when we met her. However, following the booking she did not return calls/emails in a timely manner. Upon booking and getting charged the money, I didn't hear from her, then closer to the date called and emailed to confirm...no response for days until I called Airbnb and they tracked her down. On the second day Shannon left a note stating that carpet/sofa cleaners would be coming at 11:00 the following day. This was very annoying as we had to make sure to be out of the house, and they left the sofa dismantled to dry. This should have been done in between guests, not during someone's stay and with a half-day's notice. Overall, if the price was lower, this all would have been fair and fine, but we felt a bit ripped off for the price ($262 night, including all fees) and liberties taken in the description.

  • Very comfortable accommodations in a great location...

    There was some miscommunication and a few minor snafus upon my arrival, but those were worked out without too much trouble.

    Loved the location, just a couple blocks from an El station that can get you downtown in 15 minutes, and with plenty of shopping and restaurant options within walking distance as well. The apartment itself was very comfortable, with all the furnishings that would be needed.

    Overall, a great place to stay if you want a real Chicago neighborhood experience in a convenient location!

  • Location was great and the property was well maintained. It was perfect place for me and my buddies to bunk for a big race in Chicago. We felt like we were crashing at our college girlfriend's apartment.

  • Shan's place is great. Fabulous location. Walking distance to tons of amenities (including "Trotters to Go - the best take out food I've even seen), easy access to public transportation and not far at all from downtown. Shan was easy to deal with, easy to get hold of and responsive when I needed something. I hope to stay there again next time I'm in Chicago.

Travel is fun and exciting but can be hard on the wallet. It doesn't have to be that way. Email if you have questions, especially if your requested dates are in the near term and I will do my best to work with you! Having spent more time than I care to remember in sterile, uninviting hotel rooms, I was initially attracted to vacation rentals as refreshing, and often more affordable, alternatives. What I found were the same white walls and beige furniture or, even worse, cluttered rooms and Aunt Edna's donated dilapidated couch in the living room. Well, welcome to something different. Take a break from your busy schedule by relaxing in clean, inviting rental that that feels enough like home that you're immediately comfortable while being so special you'll look forward to your return. Many of my guests have been back 2 or 3 times, and some have found themselves venturing across the country to check out another Red Hot Vacation Rental. My places are located in Chicago, Miami Beach and San Francisco. I've lived in all 3 cities and am happy to suggest hidden local gems or recommend the best nearby dry cleaner.
