About this listing
Delightful double en suite in our elegant Victorian terraced house overlooking Endcliffe Park. Close to bus stops for both city centre and Peak District. Fantastic location close to vibrant Ecclesall Road area with woodland walks on the doorstep.
This is a lovely bright and very spacious room on the 2nd floor of our home overlooking Endcliffe Park. A shower, separate toilet and large vanity unit with wash basin are incorporated into this room. Basic toiletries are provided including shampoo, conditioner and shower cream. Tea/coffee making facilities are available in the room.
The location is superb for visitors with parks, shops, takeaways, restaurants, coffee houses, wine bars and buses all close by. We are well placed for getting to both universities and hospitals. We are very happy to consider longer lets from time to time so please ask. The Hunters Bar area close by has a delightfully bohemian and arty atmosphere with many individual and different shops to enjoy. A half hour's walk will either take you into the city centre and theatres, or out into the heather clad moors of the Peak District through wooded parkland and the Porter Valley. Buses into the city or out into Derbyshire leave from the end of the road - about 100 yards away.
There is masses to do in Sheffield. It is ideally placed for exploring the Derbyshire Peak District and there is ample scope for walkers, climbers and cyclists. The city centre is lively with theatres, street markets, excellent restaurants, music festivals and museums catering for all types of visitors. The Millenium Gallery and Winter Gardens are worth a visit. A number of stately homes are close by including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall. Bakewell, Buxton, Edale, Castleton and Chesterfield are all worth a visit. If shopping is your thing, Meadowhall is a 15 minute drive or you can take the tram.
We have lived here for many years and have entertained visitors from the theatres, university and hospitals, all of whom have appreciated the wealth of activities and the warm Yorkshire welcome they have received.
Guests can make use of the kitchen and the small private and south facing garden. A help yourself breakfast of cereals and toast with tea or coffee is available. There is on street parking and a garage in which to store bikes if necessary. We will respect your privacy and ask you to respect ours, but we will always offer help, advice and lifts to our guests as required. We are not originally from Yorkshire but we just love Sheffield - and we want you to enjoy it as we do!
We booked our 4 nights stay with Ali and Andy because we were attending a Graduation Ceremony at the University of Sheffield. The location was ideal for this and also for easy access to the City centre. Ali and Andy gave us a warm welcome, with tea and cake!
Our room was at the top of the house, on the second floor, with its own shower and toilet. It was easy to park the car opposite the house and the area was very quiet at night. Our room was light and bright and we slept very well. We loved the view from our room, which overlooked the park.
Ali and Andy were excellent hosts, with Ali suggesting places to visit, ensuring that we could see some of the beautiful countryside nearby but also kindly offered to show us around the City. We were very comfortable and felt free to come and go as we pleased.
This was the best overall AirBnB experience I have had. I have had a lot of great experiences, but Ali truly knows how to host a house guest. I could go on and on about Ali and Andy, but I won't belabor the point: Suffice to say, they are fantastic hosts.
The actual room is charming (pictures tell the story), but the location was unexpectedly lovely as well. The description is accurate. There are lots of shops and (good!) eateries in the area. You can walk around quite easily. Bus access is excellent. A series of adjoining parks starts (literally) outside of the front door and goes on for miles. There is rural English beauty about a mile west of the house that goes on until you reach Manchester.
Also worth noting, the room and the house (and garden) admit a lot of natural light, which I appreciate. Also, wifi is fast and reliable, which is important if you work from your AirBnB, or if you like to stream a film now and then.
This is a fantastic place to stay. If you're in Sheffield and intend to use AirBnB, look no further.
Ali was a very welcoming host. Her house is lovely, in a gorgeous part of Sheffield. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
I really enjoyed staying at Ali and Andy's place. The room was just perfect, plenty of space and comfortable.
Nearby there are many places to eat or drink and of course the park.
Overall, Ali's welcome was wonderful, warm and friendly. No hesitation in recommending her and I would love to stay here again when in Sheffield.
Very welcoming. Had a great sleep. It's a really nice room. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely stay at Ali and Andy's. They were very flexible with our arrival and even offered to give us a lift into city centre! Ali and Andy gave us lots of tips on cafes and restaurants nearby, and also suggestions for our day trip to the Peak District. The room is clean, well-appointed and has amazing views over the park - exactly as described in the posting. What a great base for exploring the Peak District and Sheffield!
Really nice room. Lovely part of Sheffield. Comfortable bed etc. Ali was also very kind and welcoming. Highly recommended! I will stay again.
About the Host, Ali
Hi - We are Andy and Ali, a friendly, sociable couple who enjoy all that Sheffield has to offer including its varied culture, lovely warm people and access to the big outdoors. Andy worked in computers and was a member of Mountain Rescue for many years. I was an English teacher for some time, and subsequently an HR Manager of a large IT company. We are now enjoying early retirement! We like music of all kinds, I sing in a small choir, we enjoy good food and drink, love to travel and we adore the NW coast of Scotland. We have welcomed guests from Sheffield theatres and universities and are used to sharing our house with others. Do come and see us!
