Thank you for hosting us, Patricia and her father are sympathetic! The flat is as it is described by Patricia and very cheap for a week in Cuzco. Although it is a bit far from center (20 mn by taxi), the area is really quiet and safe. But two negative points: there is a huge problem about water (apparently due amenagement works in the area), it was very sporadic, and we never know when we can use it for washing dishes, use shower, or simply to use toilets! Second, which is related, hot water is linked to solar energy tough... when there is no sun, you don't have any hot water... It could be better to know it before fixing a deal!
Whatever, it is cool to have its own flat when you are traveling for a long, even if it's not the best comfy option!
Ada has a decently clean 4th story apartment in Cusco. If you're going to do anything touristy in centro this might not be the best place. We didn't realize how far away it was from the plaza de armas because we couldn't google map it. We just knew it was behind a university. We didn't know it was behind a university clear on the East side of town. But the taxi rides are fun in the theme park ride sense. They feel dangerous but probably aren't. It was fun being away from the tourist part of town but it's not cheaper than a hostel especially when you factor taxi rides. We also had to throw our used toilet paper in the garbage and had hot water less than half of our stay and the apartment would stink sometimes. The bed also isn't too great, if you're over 6', forget about it. But this is all kind of par for the course in South America. It's not an awesome value when you can have a decent hostel room for the same price and save on taxis (note: we did go in the low tourist season). I'd recommend it if you're going for the authentic Peruvian experience but not if you're only going for 4 or so nights like we did. Now we realize why there aren't many Airbnb apartments for rent in Peru. They're kind of a poor value because everything is pretty cheap.
