In addition to your downstairs suite, our guests have access to the large deck on the main floor of our home, which has a grand view of the Bay/mountains/glaciers, an outdoor dining table w/ chairs, a gas grill, and lovely flowers (the deck is located just outside of the dining room where your breakfast will be served). Please stroll around our garden to view our blooms too!
Interaction with Guests
We fully respect our guests' wishes regarding privacy & interactions :) Generally, our main interactions will occur during breakfast, as this served upstairs on the main floor -- and we leave it up to you regarding how much you'd like to interact with us :)
We live upstairs above the B&B suite, and do our best to be quiet & unobtrusive during your stay :)
Our B&B is located atop a bluff in a very scenic, forested, quiet, and peaceful residential neighborhood consisting of a few homes tucked among the trees (well separated & screened by trees for plenty of privacy). We are situated 10-15 minutes by vehicle from the town center, where you'll find excellent visitor attractions, amenities, and facilities (museums, art galleries, tasty eateries, etc.). The Wynn Nature Center, with its nice strolling paths, hiking trails, & environmental education facilities, is found just 5 minutes from our place; the Ohlson Mountain Ski Area (15 minutes away east on Skyline Drive) offers both Alpine (tow rope) and Nordic (with excellent groomed trails catering to skiiers of all abilities) winter recreational venues too. The world famous Homer Spit has many shops + dining spots, and is the jumping off point where all manner of outdoor recreational activities on Kachemak Bay & Cook Inlet/the adjacent Kachemak State Park (e.g. sea kayaking, wilderness hiking/camping, ocean fishing, etc.), plus visits to the charming hamlets of Halibut Cove & Seldovia (across the Bay, reached by boat), begin. Lots to see & do in Homer By The Sea!
Unfortunately, public transportation is still not available in Homer... Guests without vehicles can use a taxi to visit downtown, see the Homer Spit, etc... Fares are approximately $25 each way. Bicycles can be rented in town to ride on our nice paved pathways, which include a lengthy route along the Homer Spit (where you can view nice scenery, marine birds and wildlife, and other features).
Other Things to Note
Please be sure to check out our Guidebook for information about the interesting sights and things to do in the Homer area :))
No smoking indoors please!
It is also an Alaska custom to remove one's shoes when inside homes too...
