About this listing
Wake up to fresh, warm sunlight in a calm, comforting space. The ceiling fans, high windows and large rooms with near 12 foot ceilings will take you back in time. You may even hear a rooster crow or a train whistle. Downtown and ULL are steps away!
The duplex apartment is furnished with a parlor and fully functioning kitchen, 8' front porch for soaking up the atmosphere, large backyard, washer and dryer and reference on where to eat and play. The two semi-private bedrooms, one queen and one with two doubles, in a shotgun style, sleeps a maximum capacity of 6 guests.
When arriving you can park your automobile in the on-street parking provided, and approach the orange door using the front entrance deck. On those rainy days in Louisiana, you will be pleased to note the deep porch that keeps all your belongings dry while you enter.

A rich and vibrant neighborhood, Freetown was voted "Best place to live downtown" in 2013 and for good reason! With easy access to all the hot spots and the infamous I-10/I-49 intersection, this location is ideal for night-owls and day-trippers alike. Be sure to reference our custom made local guidebook on where to eat and play!
While the house sits firmly in the neighborhood, just a short walk in any direction brings you into the best of Lafayette culture. Within one half mile of the house is the heart of downtown, Jefferson St. featuring an array of at least 20 restaurants and bars, a public library, the Rosa Parks Transportation Center (train/city bus/ greyhound bus station), major banks, historic buildings, galleries, a splash pad, hair salons, retail shops ranging from crafts to bicycles to pastries, museums, great live music venues, coffee shops, the oldest continually operating ice cream parlor in America- Borden's, a farmers' market Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings, plus, the highlight of our spring and summer Friday nights, Downtown Alive! and our two largest spring events- Mardi Gras and Festival International de Louisiane!!
Within one mile of the house we have a large, lovely park which is the location of our largest fall event, Festival Acadiens et Creoles, a dog park, a variety of churches, a larger farmers' market on Saturday mornings, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the Oil Center, the historic Vermilionville, and more restaurants.
Within two miles of the house we have yet another Arts and Farmers' market on Saturday morning, the Heymann Performing Arts Center, a hospital, The Cajundome, Blackham Coliseum, the LITE Center, more parks, a movie theater, and of course more restaurants.
Beyond the two-mile mark, we have a large mall with several department stores, the Vermilion River with landings at different entry points, and a development that is a village within the city called River Ranch that features shopping, eating, drinking, and which hosts its own spring/fall series Rhythms on the River.
Acadiana is not just Lafayette. Outside of town but within ours and the neighboring parishes, our quaint nearby towns feature their own character. You may enjoy antiquing in Washington or Breaux Bridge. Or maybe a trip to the Atchafalaya Basin for a tour is of interest. Then there's the State Capitol just 45 minutes to the East. Keep going and you'll get to New Orleans, but you may never want to leave! To the West you'll find the Boudin Festival in Scott come April. Go south and run into Abbeville, but stop and enjoy some fresh-shucked oysters at Shuck's or Dupuy's. "Up north" 30 minutes you hit Opelousas. And go a little further to find some of Lafayette's locals' favorite camping at Indian Creek.
No matter where you turn or how far you go, you'll find something to do!
We have so many things to do and see within walking distance, you may never need to get in a car, but if you do, driving around is pretty painless. If you want to get around hands-free, Lafayette now has UBER! This fast and reliable option is accessible through their website or smartphone app.
The nearest city bus stop is half a block away and their routes are found on (website hidden).

The house was lovely and the neighborhood was beautiful. We received an nice note from the owner welcoming us and letting us know what to do prior to departure. We also received coupons to a nice breakfast joint down the street and enjoyed our experience there as well. We had a wonderful couple of days in the Lafayette area and staying here made our family feel welcomed to the city.
Lilian's house was the nicest Airbnb that I stayed at on my trip! It is super cute and easy to find. The inside is GORGEOUS! It is extremely clean and well kept, and there is amazing artwork all over. It's beautiful! Memory foam mattresses made for an awesomely comfortable sleep.
Also loved that the recommendations that are on the map along with this listing! We stopped at Taco Sisters on our way out of town in the morning and got some truly delicious breakfast tacos! I could eat there for every meal!
Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour chez Lilian. Son accueil était très sympathique et le logement, situé dans une rue calme, présente un réel charme grâce à une décoration originale. on se sent chez soi. Rien à redire!
Our trip to Lafayette was perfect and very relaxing!
The home could not be more comfortable or centrally located.
It is obvious that this house has been loved for many years, the space felt just like home. Clean and quaint, open and bright, private and quiet...perfection.
My favorite room is the kitchen! We spent most of our time around the lovely retro table enjoying each other and that sweet energy. I love that you guys designed the entire kitchen around the table.
The location cannot be beat. We were two doors down from Taco Sisters which was great for lunch. And a short walk to downtown which houses plenty of entertainment. We checked out French Press, a tapas joint, and Jefferson Pub for food...Art-Mosphere and Blue Moon for music. Loved each place and obviously loved the Zydeco music at Blue Moon.
On a quiet evening walk we met a neighbor playing the fiddle on his porch and were asked to sit in to listen for some time. The next night we stumbled upon another porch party with the same fiddle player, he playing with a full band. Again we were invited to their porch for a drink and some tunes. Such a friendly small town.
Lilian, her sister, and their mom Dixie were so helpful and kind. The house is set up in such a way that we didn't have too many questions for them. But it was nice to know that they were there if we needed them.
We will definitely be back soon!! Thank you for everything.
Barrett, Roger, and our girl Lena
Our host Lilian was welcoming from the start. This is the perfect place to stay if you're exploring Lafayette. You are a 3 minute walk to downtown with cafes, museums, shops. The house itself is very cute and eclectically decorated - I loved it.
The only thing I would point out is that the second bedroom does not have curtains that block out the sun. Other than that, it's all good.
De communicatie over het aankomen, vertrekken, sleutels enz. Was perfect geregeld. het huisje beantwoorde aan de beschrijving met prima keuken. De ligging perfect voor ons doel. We hebben genoten.
About the Host, Lilian
Hi! I embarked upon this adventure with my mom, Dixie as an experiment and it has been beautiful! We love meeting guests and hearing of their travels. We also love to travel when life allows!
The space we offer is a part of her house that we sectioned off, so she is right next door. Not to worry, she is naturally non-intrusive. I live just a block away, which is convenient for me to visit her and to assist you as a guest with any unforeseen needs. I have three small children and work another part-time job, just a few blocks away in our lovely downtown.
As hosts, we strive to offer you an authentic, local experience in our much-loved home. By home, I mean our house, our neighborhood, our town, our Acadiana.
