The neighborhood

It is located in the historical center of Villa Populi Porto Seguro surrounded by tropical gardens with swimming pool, convenient to downtown and beaches with bus service to 100 meters.Porto Seguro (Portuguese for "Safe Port") is a municipality in the Brazilian state of Bahia. It is the site where the Portuguese explorer Pedro Álvares Cabral first set foot on Brazilian soil on April 22, 1500. It was the busiest port of the developing Portuguese colonies from 1500 into the early 19th century and is now a major tourist destination.
Porto Seguro is located on the Atlantic coast at a midway point between Salvador and Vitória. It is 707 km. south of Salvador and 613 km. north of Vitória. It is 62 km. east of the connection with the important BR-101 highway at Eunápolis.
The region is also notable for its many beaches and vestiges of its colonial past. There are still vestiges of the Atlantic Tropical Forest nearby. There are also a number of beach-side dance floors, playing Bahia's popular music, known as "Axé".
Tourism has expanded fast in recent years and there is highly visible growth in Porto Seguro. What was once a small town of fewer than 10,000 people in the 1970s has become a city of ov people. One suburb on the southern bank of the Buranhém River, Arraial d'Ajuda, has grown from approximately 900 people in 1990 to 11,411 in 2005.

Our stay the Pousada Populi is especially influenced by the kindness and care taking of Fulvio and Maurizio! At our arrival my friend was very sick and they both did they very best to help and support me handling the situation until she felt better. I cannot be thankful enough for theor help!! Luckly she felt better soon, so we could actually enjoy our stay at the pousada and Porto Seguro. The area of the Villa Populi is beautiful and peaceful (depends on the other guests, of course). We loved the pool! The room was clean and neat and totally fine for our standard and expectations. In case of anything you might not be happy with, the team will do their best to change it! The center of Porto Seguro is a little walk along a main street, not a big fuss...and even if you feeling 'not safe': a taxi drive is very fast and cheap. The really nice beaches can be reached easly by bus. No problem. Yes, there are the planes arriving or leaving the close airport (btw: both, airport and main bus station are really close, very convenient!) but it only happend a few times during the day, it wasnt a problem for us. Overall: We really enjoyed our stay! And sending best wished and big hugs to the Populi team!

We stayed 4 nights during January in Lanfranco's House and despite the friendly hospitality of the people working for the residence we were quite disappointed about the place. First of all the location of the residence, be aware that it's quite far from the city center (30min walk) and we strongly recommend you to take a cab during the night, the neighborhood is not that safe. many point make our stay a bit disappointed. In addition of the excessive price we were able to have hot water for the shower only one day in our stay. Same problem concerning internet that was working only during our first day. I haven't sleep in such a terrible mattress for a long time... even in most hostel I stayed they provide you better bed. And the last point is about the noise of the plane that are landing and taking off every hour (even during the night) that make your sleep impossible. (You really feel that the Plane is going to crash in your house) Positive point: Clean and Tranquility of the place with a nice infinity swimming pool and the friendly Italian people that take care of the place and gave us precious advice.
