The Space

Built in the mid-century for the 1960 World's Fair, The Melrose Court Apartments provides an authentic Seattle experience at an affordable price!

This is private apartment. You will have the entire space to yourself and your guest(s).

There is a full kitchen, full bath, and laundry facilities available on-site (detergent provided). There is a comfortable queen size mattress fitted for two people. The apartment is probably better suited for only two people, but there is a couch in the living room should another person choose to stay. I do not charge for additional guests.

Guest Access

I provide towels and clean sheets. There is a kitchen stocked with dishes and pans for any guests that wish to cook during their stay. Basic cooking oils and condiments are available. A small selection of tea and coffee is also provided for guest use, free of charge.

There is also a television with a Roku box that has Netflix, Pandora and a variety of other streaming channels.

Interaction with Guests

Check-in and check-out is done through a lock-box, instructions are privately messages 48-72 hours before check in. There is someone that lives on the property to attend to guest needs, so there will be someone available for questions or concerns you may have during your stay.

The Neighborhood

The apartment is located at the end of Seattle's vibrant Capitol Hill, which makes it at 5-10min walk to Broadway (Capitol Hill's main street) and a 5-10min walk to Downtown. We are located walking distance to the Convention Center and is an ideal place for anyone attending a conference.

Supermarkets, restaurants, gyms, yoga studios, coffee shops and lounges are all located nearby. Capitol Hill is known as one of the more interesting neighborhoods of Seattle and has plenty of character! You're sure to find something interesting just walking around the block.

Getting around

We are located within walking distance to all major bus lines, including the Convention Center Tunnel Station, which takes you anywhere inside and outside of Seattle. Pike Place Market is about a 10min walk downtown and I have tour maps and traveler guides available to help you enjoy your visit!

Walk Score of 92
Transit Score of 100:

Parking is a bit tricky because I live in a very dense area of the city. There is free two-hour parking around the area that go between 7am-6pm (unrestricted after 6pm), and it can be easy or difficult depending on what day and time you arrive. Much of the parking can be found on Melrose, past Olive Way until Denny Street. I've also been told there is parking north of Thomas street. Parking enforcement does patrol the area so I would recommend moving the car every two hours during the restricted timeframe. Otherwise, there are pay parking sites nearby, that charge a daily rate of about $13. On Sundays, parking is free throughout Seattle.

Other Things to Note

There are two sleeping areas in the apartment: 1 queen sized mattress, and a couch in the living room. I've been told in the past by other guests that it is a bit cramped for 3 people. Other guests found the space to be enough. The square footage is 440, so please take that into consideration if booking for 3 people. I do not charge for an extra guest.

There is no elevator in the building but this unit is located on the first floor. However, guests with disabilities or trouble climbing stairs should still take this into consideration.

There are not any pets inside the room, nor have there been any pets since the place opened, but some other tenants in the building do have cats. The animals are typically confined to their own units, but it is something to note.

This location is fitted for travelers who are a laid back and would like to experience what it is like to actually live in Seattle. If that sounds like you, please do not hesitate to book!

Prices reflect a 9.5% sales tax for WA state. In the event where a refund is issued, both AirBnB charges and 9.5% sales tax will NOT be included in the refund.

We have just hired professional cleaners to turn our units and are here to address the concerns we've heard from past guests. The cleaning fee goes entirely to the service to ensure guests have a clean room ready for them when they arrive. And always, please let us know how we're doing!

  • Great communication throughout and thorough instructions about arrival/departure.
The apartment itself was lovely: exactly as described in walking distance of downtown with all the facilities anyone could need (living room with sofa, TV etc, fully kitted out kitchen, nice bedroom and bathroom).
Haven't got a bad thing to say about it, thank you Nick and Nicole - A* AirBnBers!

  • Nicole was responsive prior to our arrival. Very good directions were given to the apartment and to accessing the lock box for the key.

The apartment is in need of a deep cleaning. The bed is very soft. There were no bugs in the apartment.

  • Nick provides plenty of information to his guests---where to eat and play in Seattle. His information is very helpful for tourists and visitors. The apartment is very clean and neat, just as is described. The neighbourhood is very quiet and close to bus and subway stations.

  • Great Neighborhood. Clean and simple place. Worth with you pay for it.

    Simple checkin and checkout process.

  • Everything was good except the couch. It looked to be very old and rough. Almost like it had been in the rain for days on end. Neither one of us wanted to sit on it or even put our luggage on it. Also, the fan in the living room must've had been burnt because it was black and one of the prongs were missing.
Overall though, it was a decent place to stay.

  • Location, location, location. This place has an excellent location. It is within walking distance to all the cool tourist spots. The neighborhood around the apartment has lots of cool bars and restaurants to check out. Plus you can't find a place even close to this price anywhere near the city. But this is just an apartment. No frills room but has everything you could need besides a microwave. This place gave us a good preview of what it would be like to live downtown. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • "Nick's apartment is very well situated, a 5-10 min walk from Capitol Hill and 15-20 min walk from Pike Place Market and Seattle Centre, all places which we have enjoyed visiting. Convention Place is only a 5 min walk as well, and is a major interchange for buses which made it perfect to visit places like the The Northgate Mall (where there is a great Seafood and Sushi buffet restaurant - Bluefin buffet) and the University of Washington. Visiting for 2 days from France and UK, Seattle was our third city break after Toronto and Vancouver where we stayed in modern high-rise apartments with stunning views which greatly enhanced our trips, but the equivalent in Seattle would have proven a lot more expensive, so we chose Melrose Court for its great all-round location. The description and photos on the Airbnb site are accurate, there's plenty of room for 2-3 people (large lounge and fair size bedroom), tv with Netflix, lots of guides and maps for Seattle, not much of a view from the windows unfortunately which have to be left open during part of the day preferably to avoid damp, and Nicole is quick to respond to any queries. All in all a good stay.

As an avid traveler, I have always felt the people along the way have been just as important as the place I visited. I traveled alone in Latin America for about two years, and spent a good part of that time working in multiple hostels. I always enjoyed learning about my guests, providing good accommodations, and showing them the best parts of a city. The apartments are located in a 36-unit apartment in the heart of Seattle, and I have completely furnished an apartment for the purpose of providing affordable housing for visitors. Right now, I'm currently out of town, but my friend and business associate Nicole is handling all reservations and has proven to be responsive and responsible for all guests who have stayed thus far. We provide simple but comfortable accommodations, and realize that this location is suited best depending on your travel plans and the type of things you are looking for during your stay. It does help, however, to be as detailed as you can in your request so we can best meet your needs. We try our very best to provide a pleasant stay, so please rest assured that we will do the most we can to resolve any issues during your stay. I hope we get the chance to show you the best parts of Seattle!
