Situated only a kilometer from Bantry town centre, Ard Na Ghleanna (“Top of the Glen”) is a stunning contemporary home hiding behind a traditional exterior. It is the perfect base for your stay in this beautiful part of the West Cork region.
Built in 2006, this 180 sq. metre 4-bedroom house offers you all the comforts of home in a distinctly modern setting. The main living area located on the upper level is open plan and furnished to a high specification. From here you will enjoy a rustic panorama and a beautiful setting sun behind the Caha Mountains to the north-west.
On the lower level two of the three spacious double bedrooms have the benefit of large wardrobes and French doors opening out onto a spacious wooden deck overlooking a large grass lawn below. Two of the lower level bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, one with a large bath as well as open shower, with Villeroy & Boch sanitary fittings.
The two largest double rooms also open out onto a spacious decking area with outdoor table and chairs: ideal for sharing a home-cooked meal together or just relaxing after a day out.
The upstairs living area has oak floors and is furnished with beautifully designed Italian furniture. It is surrounded by well stocked bookcases containing a mix of Irish and international works both fiction and non-fiction. There is a flat screen TV receiving Saorview (Irish), UK satellite channels, radio stations and a DVD player with a small collection of films. For your audio enjoyment, you have the use of a Cambridge Audio amplifier/CD player/speakers and hundreds of CDs to satisfy most musical tastes.
The kitchen area is defined by the large island unit with a pristine granite worktop. For cooking you have a Siemens electric hob (5 rings) and a Bosch double oven/grill. For storage there is ample cupboard space and a large double refrigerator. You will have the use of all the usual kitchen appliances, toaster, coffee pots, cooking utensils, kitchenware and cutlery.
The fourth bedroom containing a single bed is also located on the upper level and can double as an office as it contains large desk. There is also a utility room containing a Bosch washing machine, ironing board/iron and plenty of cupboard space for suitcases etc.

The house was beautifully presented, with everything we could possibly need at hand. A very well equipped kitchen, interesting books, comfy beds, TV ... It is a really lovely house - and much more spacious than we anticipated. As we had bad weather - we did light the fire twice which was lovely - but as I had my teenage sons with us I would have felt happier leaving them with the fire with a spark guard! That was the only slight concern on my part! Many thanks Stephen - I hope we get a chance to stay again!
We really enjoyed our time at the accommodation. It was very clean, well stocked and conveniently located in Bantry. Excellent space for a large group, we were 7 people and there was plenty of space.
West Cork has so much to offer in terms of scenery and facilities. Quality accommodation is the icing on the cake. Stephen's house IS quality accommodation. It's modern and pristine, while also being homely and inviting. Views from the window show off the beautiful countryside, but the town with all it's amenities is just a short distance away. Perfection. We really enjoyed our visit, thanks Stephen. And thanks also to Mary the housekeeper who was so friendly and welcoming. All I can say to other potential guests is - come and see for yourself!
We loved Bantry and the house. There were plenty of room for six people. Mary the housekeeper was very helpful and we got all the information and help we needed.
The house was clean and spacious. Perfect for our group. There were up to date guides too. Mary, the housekeeper, was so helpful. She met us with the keys even at 10pm and bought milk for the kids!
Lovely house, huge space, well equipped and clean with really nice view. Warm welcome from Mary :) Good location.
Now based in London, I lived in 3 Ard Na Gleanna for 3 years whilst working in the Bantry area. A frequent visitor to the area with many familyand friends still based locally, I hope our guests will enjoy 3 Ard Na Gleanna as much as I did!
