About This Listing
Great ski place and good for hiking and biking in summer
Saalbach-Hinteglemm is one of Austria's premier ski resorts offering a wide range of runs, extensive off-piste tracks and an excellent snow record. It was the host of the 1991 Alpine Ski World Championship and subsequent annual Worldcup races.
The apartment is located in Hinterglemm, some 200 metres above the foot of the Reiterkogel with direct decents from the slopes and an amazing view on the entire valley including Zwoelferkogel and Schattberg.
The apartment occupies the ground floor of a 3 floor Alpine Style House with a little river running through the property and ample parking space in front.
The apartment features two bedrooms (one large double bed and two single beds that can be combined), a living room with kitchenette, a bath with bath tub, a toilet and a drying room for skiing boots and clothes. It is equipped with functional chalet style furniture.
Tip for powder fans and freestyle fanatics: The pistes on the south side of the valley (north-facing side) are normally in the shade, so have better snow cover, particularly in late season, as well as more trees. Much of the off-piste skiing is found on the north side, where thigh-deep, untouched powder can be found only metres from many of the pistes. There is a small snowpark in Hinterglemm, but experienced snowboarders and skiers prefer to head to the snowpark in the adjacent valley in Leogang, which boasts superior kickers, as well as rails and jibs. Saalbach-Hinterglemm also features 6 and 8-man chairlifts with heated seats and retractable covers for use in bad weather.
Saalbach Hinterglemm is renowned Party Territory. The après-ski starts early, and for a while happens simultaneously with the skiing. Among the more lively haunts in Saalbach is Bauer’s Skialm—a really popular venue at the foot of the nursery slopes, with indoor and outdoor bars and tables, and lively, eclectic music—always busy, with a multi-national ambience. In Hinterglemm, the Goassstall offers a similar ambiente.
Although the apartment is located close to the slopes of the Reiterkogel (with direct descent from the sunliner chairlift) it is recommended to arrive by car, as public transport is limited and the apartment is some 200 meters above the main street level.
