Cute 100 yr old mountain cottage on private 10 acre secluded mountain side, small farm property. Perfect getaway for a couple or small family. Affordable & quiet. Firepit in the back yard - bring your own wood. 15-30 minutes from the area attractions. Please keep expectations in line with the age of the cottage -this is not a sterilized hotel-you may see an insect! NO INTERNET & cell service is spotty. *Note: Winter months-driveway requires 4wd.*

The space
NO INTERNET! This home is charming and old, and has many features of an older home, such as creaky, not perfectly level wood floors, smaller spaces, and a feeling of stepping back in time - like visiting grandma. The shower is super small, and the bathroom is small as well, so if you are a bigger person, this may not be the most comfortable accommodation for you. We work hard to keep the space clean and bug-free, but because of it's age, you may see an ant, bee, fly, or any other little bug or critter passing through. We do have a service, but somehow, we still get them on occasion - please do not book with us if this scares you, or you are going to write us a bad review because you found a bee or bug in the house. Furnishings are new. The best thing here is the peace and solitude you will feel. Perfect nature getaway with plenty of privacy. Although there is no AC, the home is mostly shaded and has ceiling fans and box fans throughout, and with average summer temps of 75 degrees, it isn't needed at all! Home is heated with 2 monitor heaters in kitchen and living room, which provide ample heat; however, in the coldest months, be sure to dress appropriately. Bedrooms are not heated, which provides the perfect sleeping temperature; however, there are electric blankets on the beds to keep you toasty! Bedroom slippers or thick socks will provide extra comfort on wood floors. The kitchen is stocked with the basics (plates, cups, silverware, pots, pans, pizza pan, coffee maker, toaster and microwave.

Where you’ll be

Newland, North Carolina, United States

Although the cottage seems somewhat removed from the mainstream of things, it is only a 10 minute drive into the town of Newland. We do recommend that you purchase any groceries/necessities before you arrive. This location is for folks who want to be out of the mainstream of things - you will be OUT in the country. It is "off the beaten path" - although you can get to many of the areas biggest attractions in 15-30 minutes.
