Interaction with Guests
I live abroad with my family. The Facilities Manager Getrude, maid Noku and gardener Luckson are always available to assist guests. A peaceful and comfortable stay is guaranteed.
Malborough is a leafy northern suburb of Harare known for its spacious gardens. The living space is ideal for relaxing and meditating indoor or outdoor.
The home is 30 minutes taxi ride from Harare International Airport. Private taxis in Harare are normally very affordable but get the recommended ones. Westgate Shopping Mall and 3D Cinema are a 5-minute drive away. It takes 5 minutes to drive to Arundel Office Park & Mt Pleasant Business Park; 15 minutes to Harare city centre. Plenty of parking space.
Other Things to Note
Safe and secure home. Four-tier intruder barrier/security system - indoor alarm system with panic buttons, out-door virtual perimeter surveyed by powerful alarm censors (all reinforced by Securico reaction service on panic signal), perimeter wall plus electric fence.
Electricity outages are common in Harare. This has nothing to do with me or my house. Instead I provide solar water heating, rechargeable lamps for alternative lighting and gas cooking. A 5.5kva Diesel Generator system is in place though I always avoid it to save the environment and prevent noise pollution. If you badly need it, please buy the diesel and it will be on in minutes. The gardener can help with this.
A 30% security deposit applies upon check-in and can be refunded at check-out time upon verification that no damages or losses have been caused by the guest and that all agreed terms and conditions were met.
Non-smokers and non-alcoholics are preferred. Generator works on diesel only and is fueled by guests who need it but operated by helper Luckson. Keep the house clean by all means even though the helper Noku will assist with thorough cleaning at least once daily. Guests may receive visitors on approval by host. Guests' visitors who sleep-over will be charged at $30 per person per night. It is not a walk-in guest house, it is a private home. Access to the property must be through Getrude the Facilities Manager who will delegate some degree of access control to checked in guests. Please pay the maid for your personal laundry but do not give her adult underwear to wash - that's un-Zimbabwean.
That swimming pool is as good as it looks. My children were in there every single day, cold days included. They also had their own sort of adventure playing around your large grounds/garden and feeding the chickens everyday. All your staff members were very kind and helpful to us. We loved everything about your place. We had an opportunity to have a BBQ Zimbabwean style and really enjoyed. We really enjoyed staying in your house and expect us again next year.
A real paradise!!! We stayed 5 nights with our 2 year old daughter and we really advice this place for many reasons: From the booking, communication with owner was efficient. The welcome was very warm and professional thanks to the manager Gertrude. The caretakers Noku and Luckson and were always around (and still gave us all the privacy – we felt at home) we felt supported and safe. . The place is generally well maintained. The garden is huge and so beautiful; the pictures of it on this website are underestimating the reality. The big covered veranda is a big plus (for a sunny morning breakfast and that late evening drink, or just relaxing) as well as the huge kitchen and the bedrooms. This place is located in a quiet area and, how peaceful at night! We had the whole house for ourselves and we could invite a few friends over for some cool afternoons. The house is equipped with all the basics we could need on our short stay. And some more extra comforts; - Thorough cleaning was done daily, security alarm system at night, machine laundry is possible, a very clean swimming pool (with the beautiful weather in Harare I loved this part). Oh, and the barbeque in the garden (we did not use this one but it was just a matchstick away with the help of Luckson). Yes some parts of the house could do with some refreshing work and touch ups, but this you won't notice once you settle in with the rest of the comfort and you’ll feel at home - unless you are really picky. We will go back there for our next visit and for the price; this is definitely a place to recommend!!
We had a very warm welcome from the team Getrude, Noku and Luckson. The house is so spacious with a very large garden. We were able to host family and friends and they were all impressed by the environment. Noku was exceptionally good she would efficiently communicate our needs to her manager and she made us feel at home.I was impressed by her cooking she made very good meals. The house was kept clean at all times.I will definitely book this accommodation (website hidden)'s good value for money. I will recommend this to friends and relatives who are visiting Zimbabwe. The communication was efficient. The security was good and also I liked the availability of gas stove, borehole water , generator and WiFi. So many good things about this (email hidden)pliments to the whole team.
The communication was excellent beforehand , very personal and appreciated. The house was just fine, a little run down but good value for money. We thought it was worth around $100-120 per night. Unfortunately we had a disagreement about how much extra guests should be charged. We had 4 adults and 4 small children (states sleeps 6) and the house was big enough especially with the huge garden. I hope the host was satisfied with the outcome, we thought it was fair and we have done a lot of travelling in Southern Africa. Thank you Clever.
Enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. The manager, maid and Gardner were all very helpful. Our son enjoyed running around in the big garden. We had family and friends around and felt very relaxed and comfortable. This house has good access to shops and town. We highly recommend this lovely home. We will definitely stay at this lovely home next time we visit Zimbabwe.
We had a mixed experience. The good: the huge, lovely garden, with nice spots to sit outside and enjoy. The children loved the space and guinea fowl. The pool was also nice, but a little cold this time of year. The house was furnished and the kitchen was spacious and had all the basics for cooking. Gertrude was responsive and helpful, and the daily cleaning was a appreciated.
The bad: the "occasional" power outages were an average of 4-5 hours/day, and although we limited our use of the generator, we had to buy fuel to replenish it, and spent many evenings in the dark. Fortunately we could cook on the gas burner, and the house was equipped with many solar lanterns. The hot water was solar-heated, meaning that we often had cold showers in the mornings (our children bathed at night and used up the available hot water). While there were originally 5 towels (one for each of us), we ended up with only one towel provided by the housekeeper. Finally, the house was a bit run-down, with the bathroom ceiling sagging and the kitchen in so-so condition.
Overall, for the price, it was ok.
Our stay at the Maputseni home was wonderful. A clean comfortable place with plenty of space for a family. The manager, maid and gardener were very helpful. Uninterupeted water supply and a gas cooker plus generator made our stay great. Plenty of space for children to run around freely and secure. Conviniently located to visit places of interest in the Capital and very quiet neighbourhood. A very good place to stay for a family, would definitely stay there again in the future. Our son didnt want to leave coz he felt at home, thats how good it is and he is a very fussy kid.
I live an organized life surrounded by family and friends. I am happily married with three sons. Our boys - all primary school aged - are sporty and active. You are less likely to meet us during your stay in Harare as we all live abroad and visit home when we need to. We are well-traveled and open-minded people tolerant to most cultures. Most of the time our Facilities Manager and family friend Getrude, our maid Noku and gardener Luckson will guarantee you a well appointed living environment in the home and its mature garden.
