Hotel Luna Llena is in a wonderful location (yes along a dirt road not too far from town, about 200m from the beach, but very safe and easily accessible). Staff: Super knowledgeable and kind throughout our stay. Greeted upon arrival and looked after while on site. So nice even bumping into one another in town! Breakfast: We were there during the off-season so the restaurant wasn't open - a bit of a bummer when there was one rainy evening and didn't venture to town - but daily breakfast (the Tico and the Gringo were awesome!) was just fantastic. Room: Our bungalow was perfect and right near beach chairs on the deck and the pool - what more could you ask for?! WiFi: This left a little to be desired when inside the bungalow, but outside and near the reception area (arguably where the router was located) signal was fine. Inside the bungalow it's pretty slow and not always reliable, but then again what do you really need it for when you're in beautiful Costa Rica!

Hotel Luna LLena was a delight. The location is very close to the beach and central Tamarindo stores, but you are tucked away from the busy touristy nightlife noise that plague other rental options. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful(might as well wait to book day trips until check-in). The pool is a nice change of pace at the end of the beach day.. well maintained and clean. Convenient on premise restaurant offers affordable edibles. Bungalows on a budget!!

We loved everything about Hotel Luna Llena. The staff was incredibly accommodating and welcoming. The entire place was a welcome peaceful quiet close to the main strip of Tamarindo. We stayed in a bungalow and it was a ton of space. Would be very good for a long stay as it has a kitchenette. While the description is accurate the pictures don't do it justice. This place has a beautiful wonderful vibe. It is a close walk to the beach and lots of restaurants. The pool is wonderful - and Stewart the bartender was the best. Highly recommend his fruity beverages and margaritas. The restaurant is also very good and breakfast is provided. Wifi throughout. So glad we stayed here and will stay the next time we travel to Tamarindo.

Five of us stayed for two nights in Bungalow 3: three single beds in the loft and a king sized bed in the lower room. It was comfortable and fun! The whimsical lodgings nestled in lush tropical gardens at this boutique hotel consist of a cluster of yurt-shaped bungalows, all surrounding a beautiful freshwater pool and a few other huts for lounging and dining. We were there at the beginning of February so no crowds. (There was a swim-up bar, too, but it wasn’t open during our stay – not a big issue for our family!) Very relaxing place and just a few minutes’ stroll to the beach and many shops and restaurants. Daily complimentary breakfast on site starts with delicious coffee and fresh juice - and then a choice between tico, continental or gringo entrée. Most of us chose the tico meal ("gallo pinto" rice, beans and scrambled egg) but the “gringo” breakfast (pancakes with banana slices and syrup) was wonderful too! After a day of sightseeing in town it was so nice to come back, swim in the private pool, and relax in the lounge chairs just a few steps outside our door. Other features we appreciated: a warm welcome by our hostess, Simona; a safe place to park our car on the premises; free wifi throughout the complex; a lockable safe for personal items; plenty of pleasant outdoor nooks to read or chat, enjoy a drink, or connect on-line; the bungalow kitchenette with a fridge to chill our drinks and water bottles; lots of outlets for our chargers; a hanger rack in the bathroom for our damp bathing suits.

Tamarindo has something for everyone: tour the nearby national parks and see indigenous wildlife, watch the sunset aboard a sailboat with a cold drink in your hand, take a surf lesson and find out what all the fuss is about
