What a cute little place! Just 7 minutes walking to the town center, and maybe 5 minutes waking to the beach. The bungalows are so cute with lots of character. The owners, an Italian couple, were so nice and accommodating and helpful. They have a family of docile cats and dogs roaming around too.
The included breakfast is pretty good too! I recommend the "Tico", which is rice and beans and scrambled eggs, and you also get fruit juice and great coffee too.
The only thing is, if you are afraid of bugs (mainly large ants, mosquitoes, and the occasional palmetto bug coming in from the rain) you might be uncomfortable. I just kind of thought of it as a natural thing. I mean, they were there first! We shared our room with a gecko or two. They occasionally make their funny sound but it's kinda cute and makes it feel like you're in the jungle. Just keep an open mind. We saw howler monkeys outside too.
This place has a nice vibe, and pretty reasonably priced. Stay here if you're interested in character, rather than a sterile looking place. However, if you are a person who cares about luxury and amenities then it might not be for you.
Thank you Luna Llena!
I felt welcome, however I was the only one to stay here, so the pool was empty.
The hosts were very friendly, and since the entire city is so small, it's a very quick walk to town.
This was a perfect landing spot for the beginning of a fantastic vacation for our family of 4. Having a pool, ac, a tv, (we even ordered in dinner one night) made the transition into Tico culture for our kids first trip out of the US an easy start for the more adventurous trip ahead! The location for us was perfect - not right in the hustle of town but a simple stroll down the dirt road. Breakfast was pleasant. The only small complaint we had is that the communication could have been a bit better and a bit more hospitable. We had to change casitas and although they did ask us, they did not inform us of the timing and went ahead and moved all of our belongings for us while we were out despite us having been there in the afternoon. Nothing missing and all was fine but this was not comfortable. Still our experience was good.
Overall, we loved Hotel Luna Llena! The bungalows were inexpensive for the amount of space we had. Nice little kitchen in case we would've wanted to cook (we ate out every night -- just too much good food to try in town!). The breakfast was complimentary, decent portions, but you could pay $2 for extra if you wanted (we did every day!). Good coffee. Made for a great start to our days. The only issue I had here was the young girl working the front desk when we arrived was a bit rude and acted as if we were a huge inconvenience to her for wanting to book our shuttle to the airport. Besides that small hiccup, we loved our stay here!
This place was simply magical! We loved our little bungalow and Luna Llena provided us one at the center of the pool which was a plus. The pool and bar were perfect and a fun way to relax in the am and at night. This was our longest stay area in the country and we came over Easter weekend. The complex is extremely safe and walking distance to the restaurants, shops and bars. The breakfast was amazing every morning and all the hosts were extremely friendly. We will DEFINITELY be staying here the next time we come back to CR! Of our entire stay in CR this was our favorite!!!!
Loved this place!!! The 2 room casita was great, walk out the door to our patio, 3 steps to pool, what more could anyone ask for. Everybody was helpful. 5 relaxing days. Host were always ready to help. Would return and highly recommend.
