The Space

Tastefully appointed ground level in our 1890’s Brownstone. This one bedroom is completely private with its own entrance and garden access. It has old world charm with its original details such as wainscoting, ornamental fireplaces, exposed brick, and hardwood floors. Modern amenities include a flat screen satellite-TV, wireless internet, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

The large bedroom has a full sized bed and sleeps two while the modular sofas provide comfortable additional sleeping. An open plan living-room/dining area has full access to the backyard as well as 2 large couches that can be repurposed as twin beds if need be. The kitchen is equipped with a convection oven, microwave, cookware, dishware and cutlery. The bright, clean bathroom has a full sized shower/bathtub combination and is fully stocked with towels.

Our home is located along the NYC Marathon route, just steps away from Pratt Institute, on a tree lined block in the historic neighborhood of Clinton Hill. Cozy eateries, farmer and flea markets, shops and boutiques abound. We are a short walk from Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Barclay Center and several of Brooklyn's most historical churches. The Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Heights Promenade are a short train, bus, or even bike ride away. Clinton Hill is uniquely central to many of Brooklyn’s other trendy neighborhoods. Subway and buses stations are less than 2 blocks from the house and it's less than a 30 minute ride into Manhattan.

  • A beautiful space in a great neighborhood! We found ourselves walking more than the freezing weather would have warranted because there were so many interesting places to see, and Shirley's apartment was a cozy, comfortable home to return to at the end of a long day in NYC with a 6-year-old. Highly recommend!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this ground floor apartment. It was warm and inviting after trekking around a snow covered Brooklyn. The decor is clean and modern, yet fits the historical ambiance of the brownstone beautifully. The location is fantastic as well - just 2 blocks from the G train and 1 block from a great supermarket, with lots of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Shirley was a fantastic host. She was able to be flexible with our arrival and departure times, which we greatly appreciated. She respected our privacy and yet was immediately available if we needed something. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the Fort Greene / Clinton Hill area!

  • Wonderful accommodation in a very convenient location. We loved staying in this secure apartment (street level, one bedder) within a beautiful, classic Brooklyn brownstone. The apartment is spotlessly clean and comfortably furnished with great style. After a chilly winter's day of sightseeing/shopping/wandering this toasty warm accommodation is a pleasure. It's located within a short block and half of the "G" train (a fabulous and frequent local) which can take you to other vibrant areas within Brooklyn or to connecting trains that can convey you to anywhere within Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens etc. Within easy walking distance is a well-stocked supermarket, a number of friendly bars, restaurants, cafes and gorgeous surrounding streets filled with quintessential Brooklyn homes. Also the Pratt Institute is a pleasure to stroll through to see magnificent sculpture and grounds. The basement washer/dryer is very useful as is the full kitchen. Also v. close to Dekalb and Myrtle Streets with all they have to offer. This Clinton Hill apt should be at the top of your short list. Brooklyn is definitely a must-see destination with so much to offer. We love, love, loved our lengthy stay at "Fresh, Clean Brooklyn Garden Apt." Oh yes, Shirley and Liam are wonderful airbnb hosts who have thought of everything to make for a relaxing, stress free stay.

  • Very clean, quiet and well appointed place. Lots of privacy but hosts were very accessible. Wish I could have stayed longer. Will definitely consider booking again for a return visit.

  • S and L had the most beautiful place to stay! The apartment was like the best of both worlds--the luxury of staying in a nice hotel, but the charm of staying in a Classic Brooklyn brownstone. The appliances and the bathroom, the linens--everything--was in perfect and seemingly new condition, which was wonderful. The apartment was in a cute, cozy setting, and very comfortable. We loved that we didn't have to walk up stairs after our long days of trekking around the city. What we especially loved, having stayed airbnb in the past, was that the apartment seemed as if no one lived there, we weren't sharing a lot with strangers, yet there were thoughtful appointments tucked away for our use. I forgot a hair dryer, etc., and one was conveniently there in the cupboard. We even had grocery bags for our use. Very thoughtful! The hosts were there for any issues if we had needed them.
We were staying in A and S's place over a holiday and found everything in the kitchen we needed to serve our turkey dinner. That was truly appreciated. The decorating was minimal but lovely! It is a terrific place to stay when visiting New York/Brooklyn.
The location is nice and quiet and close to transportation, as well.

  • We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in NYC! The hosts were gracious and accommodating (even when our flight out was canceled at the last minute, and our plans for leaving had to change a bit). The apartment was spotless, comfy and a short walk to everything in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill. (An absolute bargain, if you ask us.) This kind of experience is the reason we always book with Airbnb when we travel. Lovely on all counts!

  • As we arrived in Shirley´s and Liam´s Brownstone appartment, Shirley welcomed us very warmly. She is an open and friendly woman and introduced us to all necessarily items and things to know concerning keys, sightseeing, underground, garbage and last but not least the devices in the flat (dishwasher, stove, TV, ...) - by the way, we loved to had WLAN!
Furthermore Shirley gave us hints for events in the surrounding, i.e.
when there is the Brooklyn Flea Market. And every time we needed something we could ask her and she made everthing possible as far as she could.
The flat itself is very comfortable, very clean and cozy. We
appreciated the stay in Shirley´s flat and we highly recommend her
accommodation in Brooklyn to everyone who plans to visit New York and needs an appartment.
The surrounding of the flat is quiet, although you have almost everthing you need within a few steps: a supermarket, a restaurant, a deli (very important in the US! ;-) ), a french bakery (!!!), a pizza service and a great Wine Shop at 305 Franklin Ave at Lafayette.
If you want to go to Manhattan you can use the underground line G to which you have only 3 minutes to go and 2 stops later you change to line A (express, which does not stop at every station) or line C (local, which stops at every station).
Altogether we were very satisfied with Shirley, the housing and the area we lived in. Whenever we will visit New York again we would try to live there ...
Thank you Shirley for making our stay such convenient.
