Established in 1911, Pine Rest Cabins has been home away from home for generations of travelers. We are delighted to welcome you to our home at this historic Black Hills family owned / operated lodging establishment.

Aspen, Birch , Cedar and Dakota are the newest additions to the Pine Rest Cabins lodging establishment. Our family built them in 1999. The CEDAR is one side of the Cedar/Dakota duplex building.

Aspen & Birch are two cabins in one building and Cedar & Dakota are in another. These four cabins share one parking lot – there is room for one vehicle per cabin and we can help you find parking on the premises for additional vehicles if needed. You park right next to your cabin when you book the Cedar. Cedar has a ramp vs. steps to get into the cabin.

Open all year and featuring a gas log fireplace and knotty pine inside and out, each of the four cabins is approximately 500 square feet and has its own 8x8 covered porch and separate entrance on opposite ends of the building.

There is a queen size bed in one bedroom and small second bedroom with built in twin size bunkbeds. The 8 foot walls are open at the top and share the vaulted ceiling for a spacious feeling and good air flow. Of course each of the duplex units is totally separated from the other with a full wall between them. The queen bed is made up. Linens are provided for you to make the bunk beds.

These cabins are ideal for 1 or 2 adults and 2 children. When traveling with all 4 adults, we recommend booking both sides of the duplex , or one of the other cabins.

The TV is in the queen bedroom. There is also a single sofa-bed/love seat in the living room/kitchenette area if needed for a child. This area features gas log fireplace, a kitchenette with microwave, electric skillet, chef's pot for boiling or slow cooking, toaster, coffee maker and under counter refrigerator. A table, four chairs, and a rocker complete the room.

The Cedar has an entrance ramp and a bathroom with walk/wheel -in shower.

Hill City is a small, friendly , eclectic , year round mountain town. Arts, music, museums, timber, ranching, mining, hospitality, commuting and grit keep our community thriving and surviving here. Living in the center of the Black Hills - the " Paha Sapa" - we respect the spirit that drew us here and appreciate having the Black Hills National Forest as " our big back yard". Surrounded by an abundance of natural wonders , springtime brings a trickle of visitors from near and far. It is full steam ahead throughout the summer with attractions like Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Badlands, the Caves and the 1880 train. Soon it's September and we relax into hiking the trails , biking the Mickelson , and we try to make our way over to Custer State Park for the Buffalo Roundup . As we slow to the pace of wonder once again in the winter, we look forward to the line up of local entertainment at the pubs , wineries and eateries, heartily enjoy some cross country skiing and rarely miss church or a pick up games of broom ball at the local ice pond. We are truly grateful for a community that is filled with life , laughter and love year around.

I'm a country girl at heart with a passion for all things vintage, outdoors and active. I love to hike, bicycle and kayak at a casual pace, not a race. Winter is the best because of broomball and sledding. I find a garage sale much more exciting than shopping at the mall or on -line .

Work is a blessing and having a family is my dream come true, so I have no bucket list, but LOT's of things I'd still love to do , and that includes hosting you!

My husband thinks I'm crazy and my grandson adores me - what can I say? I've promised to hike the Himalayas with my youngest son when he is 60 and I'm 100! OK , you guessed it.... I'm vivacious and a bit of a silly poet always hoping to tip the scales of life to the joyful side.

We live on the property and tend the " Perky PINE cafe " coffee shop and cabins during the day with the help of our great staff. After hours we are available by phone but do appreciate a bit of privacy and totally respect yours.
