ABOUT PALERMO SOHO

Location, location location. The apartment is located in a strategic spot on Honduras Street and Scalabrini Ortiz Ave. (see the mini guide below). This location is pretty much as good as this neighborhood gets. Honduras St is the main core of Palermo Soho with its designer´s shops, coffee houses, cool restaurants. NOTE: Even when the apartment is located on an avenue, the apartment itself is completely silent since is on the back of the building, heading NORTH EAST. Sunrise and sunset right in front of every window. Very unique features for this neighborhood standards.

A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THE APARTMENT

It was my home for several years, and since 2003 I'm renting it fully furnished to people looking for an inside look of the city, not a made-for-tourists fake facade. I was really lucky since the beginning: my first tenants were great people. First, Danny Palmerlee (well known Lonely Planet´s guides Editor). He lived in my place for over a year during the process of writing Best of Buenos Aires, a book available at Amazon.

Then arrived Nadya S, NYU law student who not only was amazing to meet, also she quickly became my friend, and so far Nad is the most ironic, clever and funny English speaking I´ve met (despite the fact she is a big time lawyer). She fell in love with the place. And after her it began a new chapter after the other in this story that finally leads to Asli Akin, adorable turkish Art Director now back in Istambul. I promise to update the whole thing soon.

ABOUT ME

I live 5 blocks away from this apartment. I know how to make people at home and welcome. I'm a world traveler myself so I take care of every detail.

  • Julies apt is nicely located with a lot of hotspots just nearby. It's a quiet neighbourhood and the view from the balcony is really pleasant. All facilities worked without problems and the apt is charmingly furnished. Julie responds quickly to inquires and is an excellent host. Recommended.

  • Absolutely fantastic accomodation! It really is in an amazing location right in the heart of Palermo Soho, a very beautiful and trendy neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. The flat is great and Julie is lovely, very helpful with plenty of advice and assistance during my stay in Buenos Aires! Couldn't give a higher recommendation!

    May 2013
  • I had a great time in Julie's appartment. It is well located, in a very safe area and I enjoyed very much the balcony. Julie is a sweet girl. On my first day, she showed me the neighbourhood around and how to orientate mysefl in the city. Too bad we didn't get the chance to meet again before I leave... Gracias Julie y hasta luego!

  • For me Julianas apartment was absolutely the perfect place to stay in Buenos Aires. It is located in probably the most exciting area of the city and surrounded by an uncountable number of great cafés, bars, restaurants and shops. The apartment itself has a lot of charm and I felt at home immediately. Juliana is a fantastic host trying to do everything that one has a perfect stay in the city. Next time I will definitly try to stay at her apartment again.

  • Very nice flat in the best place to stay in BA.

    January 2013
  • Juliana was an absolutely fantastic host... she answered our every question, provided us with some brilliant recommendations and even invited us round for dinner!

The flat itself was in a perfect location (5 minutes walk from super trendy Palermo) and the view from the balcony was made for the New Year fireworks.

It served as a perfect base, and was well worth the incredibly low price (not even the hostels were that cheap).

I'm really going to miss it...

    January 2013
  • just for the view it worst it. I stay a month and the last night I couldn't go to bed....I stayed untill 4hAM to watch it & listen music.
of course you can also get out of the place and then, you don't even have to walk. you're in the place ! everything happens around coffee restaurant bar shop party ...

    Julie (Juliana Actually)
    Response from Julie (Juliana Actually):

Hope to see you again Ben! It was an absolut pleasure to meet you.

  • OK! Wow what a great trip.

Now the apartment is in a 1960s block of flats. The block is on a busy main road, but this flat is at the back and looks west over Palermo (i.e. looks away from the city centre). Its five flights up. The view is great and gives you some perspective over the neighbourhood. I would describe it as quiet by BA standards - it still gets street noice from the side streets running in to Palermo. That said - we got some solid sleeps.

The bed is a queen mattress on a double frame, which kind of makes one side stick up a bit. The stain mentioned in earlier reviews on the comforter is still there but its obviously been cleaned, its more of an ink stain.

The apartment was clean when we entered except for the floors. Julie offered free cleaning straight away for this.

Check in, check out and comms in between were flawless.

This apartment forces you in to deep relaxation mode, Buenos Aires style. To fully experience it, grab a take away Bife de Chorizo from the Parrilla at Scalabrini Ortiz 1538 and enjoy with a beer on the dining room table, then crash out on the couch for an hour.

    October 2012
  • Julie was a great hostess. Communication with her was quick and easy. The apartment is in a fantastic neighborhood in Buenos Aires, just a few blocks from the center of Palermo Viejo, and easily accessible to transportation. The apartment itself is fantastic -- fast Wifi, quiet (despite being on a busy street), and very comfortable. I would definitely recommend Julie's apartment to anyone traveling to Buenos Aires!

    September 2012
  • Juliana is a great host - she gave us a little tour of the neighbourhood even though we arrived late on a freezing night and kept in contact through our stay to see if we needed anything. The apartment is in a great spot - lots of bars and restaurants and clothes shops. We loved it.

Im a Journalist by profession and I run my own Public Relations practice, mostly in the Entertainment field. I love my own country and Im a world traveler myself so I know what people usually need to feel welcome when visiting other latitudes. I try to understand their needs to take care of details, so my tenants have the best experience while in a beautiful -but not always easy to find out- city like Buenos Aires. Im currently living in the Palermo area, +10 blocks away from this Funky Flat which was my home for several years. It has a great vibe and the view from the balcony is breathtaking. I adore it! I try to keep it simple but furnished very cool with vintage and new items from here and there.
